I came here during the summer for a quick getaway. Grizzly Pines offers Day Pass and I took the opportunity to check it out. Driving from Houston was a breeze all the way to the freeway exit. After that was all rural routes in Waller County. I called in advance to ask for general information. The gentleman who answered the phone was very polite. He reminded me about 3 pm cutoff time for day pass entry. Upon arrival, I called him again to pay and check me in. I immediately went to the pool and changed to a suitable outfit. While I enjoyed the sun, I met a resident who travels across the country and happened to be at this campground for few weeks. He gave me a grand tour of the property. After I got home, I followed them on Facebook to receive frequent updates. Because I want to enjoy the camping experience one day, when it gets warmer. I'll be back in 2024. read more

Was there last weekend. Was in what they said was their best room over the pool. $200 per night. There was no soap in the bathroom and we were unable to find an office to check on some. The stairs going up and down were not lighted at night and the banister I found ended before the steps and I fell down hard. Even though we had paid for 2 nights we left at noon Saturday. I called during the week left a message with someone to have the manager or owner to call they never have. The guests were very nice but the management is very bad Think twice before going. read more

So there's been lots of upgrades I've heard like more cabins and the camp site we got didn't originally have power which was the primitive area but it does now !!! The general manager was super nice and helpful had us upgrade to a better site ... the staff are very friendly.. purple horned guy helped me every day with ice if u want a massage by the local massage guy I suggest u book early ! The food was great I suggest u pre order breakfast at the cafe by pool it helps when ur tired and don't want to cook in the morning.. definitely 70% nude and 30 % clothed so bring ur best jock straps or sheer clothing or ur fancy bathing suits with sunglasses.... The cabanas are perfect for shade and at great price I recommend getting one because getting sun burned will happen there are areas to stay shaded too but u will probably want to be in the sun and not realize ur burning .. lets there's definitely some late night activities lol ... Yes there is WiFi but super super slow ... so knowing this make sure u download your music for camp area or have other means for ur projectors because I brought one to watch music videos while I cooked dinner for group but only could watch two lol This a bring ur own poison kinda place so I recommend buying this canned drinks that u just pour over ice .. everyone had there own Stanley cup by the pool fyi !! I definitely made lots of friends and will definitely come back with a bigger pack ... the DJ was ok but not like fantastic but the sound was ok They did have a foam party one night and lots of bubbles so that kept them busy so overall it was fun experience except I was disappointed on Sunday my disco Sunday was kinda let down I feel like they didn't give disco Sunday a try at all its was like basic disco not at all eagle disco that my only complaint.. I found this place via personal referrals, and their web site. I was leery of the place because they want to charge the guest before showing the property. I went ahead with this expecting to rent a private sleeping room w/bath. When I got to this room it was a store room with a toilet and a shower, with no privacy at all. Most importantly there was nothing in the room but a bare mattress, with no sheets, pillows or towels. I called about the linen situation, and they wanted $27 more to rent towels and sheets. That was a turning point where I decided I'm not staying with any place that behaves that way. I didn't stay 0:30 minutes and told them flatly no. Then they refused to refund my money even though I couldn't get as much as a shower when coming in off the road. I'm not accustomed to staying any place with an exposed toilet next to my bed, next to a shower. There was no heat in the room, and the only HVAC a micro-window-unit not big enough for the space. There was full sized refrigerator in there, and a gas cook top. There were no dishes to cook with, or utensils or anything else. The room was not fit for habitation; plain and simple. It remains to be seen what happens about the room charge, as I didn't stay there, and they didn't earn anything. It might be OK if you are RV'ing, but I'm just a tourist equipped with my personal things and I don't travel with sheets and pillows. When I tried to connect to their internet, the bandwidth was pitiful, and it wouldn't communicate. Neither would my phone that far from wherever service is coming from. The property was little concerned with guest comfort, and not helpful at all. For these reasons I can't recommend this place, and I likely will never be back. Their policies are discretely not permitting all gay me and I was turned away. This is very disappointing they don't support all men of the gay community. Only ones that fit in their view. read more

My third time at Grizzly Pines And I never been disappointed. Start with a very friendly crew here. Every person that work here are mega helpful and friendly. Very safe place. Very clean place. The pool area. Amazing. Very large pool and a large spa. Clean showers and toilets. Good amount of seatings. The guests here are very friendly. Each time I come here I check out a different cabin. I went to Grizzly Pines a couple of times in March and April 2018, had a great time then despite the rain and cold. After planning to come back over the summer, I had a lot of things that prevented me from solidifying those plans but I finally made it back last weekend! I chose a non-event weekend because I wanted to see how much they'd grown with what they've built and expanded and wow - it's pretty great. The pool is awesome, all of the new cabins are great. Randy's Big Gay Taco has excellent food. I spent a lot of time just relaxing by and in the the pool, but getting up early to jog around the campgrounds was really nice as well. But coolest of all is that I met a lot of really nice people, despite it being a weekend without any big celebration or event going on. I'll be back reguarly now - definitely worth it. read more

The restaurant on site was very rude, they need to realize that new people may have questions about their menu and times, and it you are standing at the window someone may come to that window and ask some simple questions , the guy that was at the window on Saturday morning 8/17 was a complete dick, very rude, so several of us left and went into town and had breakfast. The Park itself we found the staff very nice, but someone needs to speak to ass at the restaurant window taking orders because it is a reflection of the park. read more

Cancelled our reservations with no explanation. We have only camped at Grizzly Pines once, and that was with the previous owners, it was an off weekend and was very nice and relaxing. Kind of sad that I have referred numerous people there and for whatever reason we can't even go call there with the people we referred to camp there. I LOVED this place so much. It's so idealic. All the pine trees keep it cool even while it's hot, the RV we rented was super nice, and the whole place just had this like super chill vibe. We weren't there on an event weekend, so I can't say what that was like, but we started planning a trip back before we left. We had booked it for 3 nights, but decided to go home a day early because of an inbound tropical storm. The guys refunded us for the missed night without even needing to ask. You guys this is everything a Gay Campground is supposed to be. Relaxing, fun, Pool, Hottub, Outdoor Movie. The staff are super attentive and always available to help. So, first impressions...instantly unwelcomed tone from check-in, ok fine that happens. After that situation had passed we were shown to our site that was unprepared, technically unavailable, and surrounded by decaying thrift store yard furniture. We really wanted to be there and support a gay owned business.we instantly recognized some of the pics from the website, and well, they did a REALLY REALLY good job making this place look clean and neat..online. Rolls of carpet on the side of the road, rusting pans with cigarette butts outside the taco shop, outdoor chairs covered in mold and rotting away..decrepit sheds, tools just laying around, and this was before some of the trailers that were falling apart in the back. This was a shock that this place has ZERO concern for appearances. As a Texas business I wish they would show some pride in their land, as a gay owned business I feel like they don't respect the community...we really were more heartbroken that this place was so deceptive and not like the website at all, it has so much potential...a day of picking up garbage would make a world of difference. read more

Stayed here October 16-20, 2023. Loved it. Beautiful clear-water pool and hot tub. No trash on the ground. The clientele and the staff were very friendly. Plenty of parking. The cabin was 5-star. Everything worked. Hope to go there again soon. read more

I have been Traveling for the past 4 Months I visited 7 different Gay Campgrounds from Ga to Texas. Grizzly Pines by far was the Best. The biggest issue at every campground from all the guys I met was the Wi-Fi Service. The Owners Conner, Jim, & Rigo have done their research and have invested the money into offering the BEST Wi-Fi at Grizzly Pines. It was by far the BEST Wi-Fi out of all of the campgrounds I visited. The Owners are also very Welcoming. Randy's Big Taco Cafe was outstanding the Prices & the portions are unbelievable. Randy the owner and his assistant were so welcoming and Nice. Please support it's well worth it! The Gift Shop Had leather, lots of camping items, T shirts, Good Homemade lube and the prices were Very Cheap. The Pool and Large built in Hot tub were Very Clean and Everyone was very Chill. Our first time at Grizzly Pines over Labor Day for a week and the sites do not have sewer, so that's a big inconvenience. While they boast that Labor Day is one of their biggest holidays, they couldn't handle the crowd. The pool turned green and actually had to be closed on Labor Day for several days due to the unhealthy water. The bathrooms were completely disgusting - never got cleaned during the busy holiday weekend and weren't cleaned for several days after. We were late checking out due to a jack that wouldn't retract on our motorhome and the owners harassed us about leaving although they had no one reserved for our spot. We've been to many gay campgrounds, and this was very disappointing. read more

"My experience here was awful"There were roaches everywhere in my cabin several crawling the wall, several came from around the bed. Mostly old people here. Public bathrooms were in terrible shape and not very sanitary. Hard to tell if it was a storage facility or restroom. Camp ground wasen't very well kept. Eye sore junk was through out the facility. On a positive note, they are building new/nice cabins. Food was tasty and jacuzzi/pool area was a fun place to meet new friends. read more

This place is just downright trashy! When we went, there were tall trashy weeds around the cabins, public restroom was dirty with overflowing trash onto the floor the entire weekend. We weren't even given a key to lock up the cabin. Don't eat their food, all the fried food tastes like old dirty grease and 3 of us had diarrhea all weekend. The tables that we sat around by the pool were dirty and never cleaned or wiped down all weekend. Parking is horrible and so tight. Didn't realize that after I got home that my vehicle had been scraped. Don't waste your money. read more

We have been "perms" for a year and a half now! Gay men's campground, clothing optional, and so much fun. Just celebrated my birthday weekend here for Labor Day. The owners and staff make sure that events are open to the entire campground, no cliques! We hosted a party on Sunday evening and the owners and staff made sure it was a success; providing speakers, a playlist, extra frozen drinks, tables, chairs, and heating up the queso for the party! This is a gay campground, didn't see a category for that. Very friendly staff, nice set up. You can rent a cabin or rv/camper on the grounds or bring a tent. Nudity is allowed but not required. Nice mellow place. read more
