Leaning Oaks Ranch was a perfect venue for my daughter and new son-in-law's wedding! With 150…read moreguests invited, the setting was great for the 100+ attendees. Landscaping in the front area where the ceremony and most bridal party pictures were taken is beautiful. The plants offered greenery and a beautiful array of fall colors for the occasion. We were terrified that we might get rained out, but Barbara (owner, proprietor, sanity savior!) had connections to vendors offering tent options but assured us we would be okay without said tents after scouting the weather and staying in constant contact with us. (She was 100% correct) We then moved from the picturesque ceremony area to the back for the reception. This also did not disappoint. There was a good flow to the venue between the bar, the food serving, the tables for dinner and visiting with guests, to the Gazebo and dance area. It was cozy for guests but never crowded. The staff was attentive and extremely helpful...our guests wanted for nothing. I was pleased and impressed with the professionalism and hospitality at the wedding and reception. Leaning Oaks was completely accommodating and helpful every step of the way. For a wedding, you simply don't want to leave things to chance; the day is just too important. It felt like the staff were ready to meet our every need and offer suggestions when needed. I can honestly say that the guests, family, and the bride/groom were 100% satisfied with Leaning Oaks as a venue and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a local, outdoor, beautiful, and professional venue. We worked with Barbara and Keith to get everything we needed dropped off the day before the event so that set-up was a breeze the day of the wedding! Positive communication was a huge key to this very successful event. My daughter and son-in-law now have amazing memories they can look back on for the rest of their lives and smile. Choosing Leaning Oaks took away much of the stress of planning a large event and an important day! (More pictures will be added as they are received...)

I have had my horses boarded at RREC for over a decade. It pains me to write this review, but our…read morecommunity needs to be made aware of the poor quality of their service. First, the positives- one of the owners(owner B) is there everyday caring for her own horses, so getting ahold of her is quite easy. Also, there is easy access to the river trails. Now for the unfortunate parts: 1. The entire facility is in such disrepair that over the span of 6 months, my horse had no water for nearly 2 days because the automatic water bowl was completely broken and nobody noticed. I personally witnessed 3, fully grown trees FALL OVER! Two of which landed on pens and hitching rails. Further, the stalls dividers often break or fall down! Not to mention, there are shar wires and paneling impinging upon the feed areas. 2. They nickel dime you into the poor house. They require first and last month payment upon signing your contract. If you want a tack room, it's an extra $10/month. If there is an extra shade structure (all of which were built decades ago by horse owner and cost the facility absolutely nothing), it's another $15/month! 3. Serious safety concerns! The fencing which makes up the stalls often breaks, falls completely down, or the rods come in welded and stick into the stall. Sharp wire jut into many stalls as well. One of the riding instructors gives lessons to upwards of 10 BEGINNER students at the same time, most without helmets, and has kids interacting with horses completely unsupervised. 4. Obvious discrimination. There are several boarders to whom the facility rules flat out don't apply, but everyone besides these people are held to them. 5. The most frustrating thing is the unbelievable lack of concern for boarders. Any time there is a legitimate request made (moving stalls until repairs are made, safety concerns, repairs), they are met with the line, "We would fix that, but the owner won't allow it." I asked numerous times to get in contact with owner A(the person who is rarely seen), but was met with pushback each time. The lack of accountability from the owners and never ending safety hazards/disrepair have forced out numerous people, including myself. I recommend finding somewhere else to board horses.

From the owner: We have multiple arenas (some with lights for night riding), round pens, trail challenge course,…read moredirect access to trails, restrooms on site, horse wash stations, cameras, automatic gate that closes at night plus different size stalls with individual tack rooms. On a road trip, my friend Denise and I were looking for a convenience store in roads that were not…read morepaved with cement nor were they in the center of a chic boutique and a hits-the-spot every time boba shop. Yes, we were basically on dirt roads that saw a few scattered homes here and there, and visible old school phone towers (the brown kind) connected with wires (where crows sit on a row) existed, and not much else. We drove around in some circles, looking for this fabled store and found nothing, not even a Bigfoot. We noted how the moment felt like we were on an Iowa highway because we saw expansive fields and experienced a Middle-America atmosphere. I wanted a small stalk of wheat in between my teeth. As we drove, we saw this place and decided that this joint would replace the store we were looking for. At this point I started to listen to Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If you know, you know. As soon as I entered I felt like I had stepped into a diner in the middle of nowhere, the type of spot where brothers talked about saving people, hunting things, you know the family business. My friend Denise did not know what I was talking about and when I tried to introduce the world to her with corny prompts she decided not to play along. Still for a fan the experience was nothing but a win!(chester). I cannot remember the person who helped us but she was a server who reported that she had lived in the surrounding area for most of her life. She was deepening the believe that we were on a route diner neglected by city reality. During this visit, I had fried okra for the first time in my life. It was weird to taste but not in a bad way. More like I had never tasted this texture before in my life. The texture that I had not tried before in my life was a gooey vegetable. Like the texture of the outside was exactly as advertised--- fried goodness. The actual okra was the gooey part. I do not want to sound crass, truly, I do not, but it did feel like enjoying something slimy, and I will leave it at that. Again, not wrong, just weird But I will not get it again. The server- the homegrown one- gave us fried pickles and these were much more to taste. Like, I i have had fried pickles before and I loved them but I had some that were not for me. But these, these, were pickle spears fried to brown goodness, and the mixture hit green- which does not mean go, more like Hulk enjoys, instead of smashes. It was a simple dish yes- green spear pickle fried but sometimes the goodness of a county fair is exactly what a roadtrip snack should be. The fair came to my table and I am not mad at that. On this trip I did have the Willow Dip which I feel is a close cousin to a french dip. What this place did well, at least I think, is putting it on an onion baguette. I am not sure if onion baguette is a middle-of-nowhere bread, but, I allowed it because the taste of the bread was, like tailored made for me, I am a sucker for onion, and not just because it gives me sexy breath. The food was standard, solid fare. Everything was just good nothing wrong with it, all good with it. The sauces were tasty, and added smoky sweet flavor that was welcomed. So this elevated the dish by addding a hickory taste. It did not save the dishes, but did make them better. The decorations were texas heavy. I should have taken more pictures. But sometimes the imagination allows for a space to feel more than at it is.

However, dealing with Morgan, the wedding coordinator, was not an easy or enjoyable experience. Morgan never seemed to have time for questions or to meet to discuss the wedding and made us feel like we were bothering her. One time she actually asked my daughter to meet her at an out of the way high school for a 5 minute meeting during a break in her child's sport. We had JEH Ranch do all the flowers and decorations, but they made them more elaborate with more than double the flowers then my daughter wanted. Morgan said she would make the toss bouquet from leftover flowers, but she didn't so my daughter had to give away her bouquet. On the day of the wedding the neighbor yelled comments and insults, including racial slurs, at guests and the wedding party before, during, and after the ceremony making everyone uncomfortable. Right before the ceremony began, the wedding party asked where the boutonnières were and Morgan just shrugged and said she didn't know. They showed up half way through the pictures after the ceremony. I never received a statement of any kind for the wedding. In fact, beside the initial deposit Morgan didn't ask for any money until a late night 3 days before the wedding and even then she still didn't have a final cost. even though it was only an estimate as she still didn't know the final cost. She asked for the balance while the wedding party was getting dressed. We didn't even know what we were paying for or getting but it was to late to do anything. I would recommend JEH for the location and catering, but bring your own coordinator, flowers/florist, and DJ.
