My bulldog broke his leg as a young pup. Had to go in for an emergency visit. The vet who saw him recommended that either his leg get amputated, and that he didn't suggest it because he's a front heavy dog and wouldn't have a great chance at life and that he didn't think surgery would be able to be done. Needless to say we left. Have never been back. My pup had his surgery else where and you could never tell he even broke his leg. We live in Grinnell and I'll just be making the trip to Marshalltown to a great vet instead of here. read more

I have been taking my dog here since the spring of 2008. She loves to go in. They are friendly and gentle with her. I am always able to get appointment times that work with my busy schedule. Plus they are available short notice and take emergency calls should your pet get sick or injured. Oh and they seem extremely knowledgeable about dog health. Note that they do not staff overnight so if you need to leave your pet they will be kenneled and left by themselves. This was not something that I was comfortable with after having her spayed. I asked to pick her up at the end of the day instead of leaving her overnight for recovery which wasn't an issue. read more

When you take your pet here make sure you INSIST on seeing either Dr. Brennan or Dr. Frischmeyer. They are the owners and between them they have over 50 years experience as vets. They are excellent and really know what they are doing. The other doctors in the place have far less and it shows. Their support staff is frustrating to deal with because they're all young and don't understand the importance of focusing on your job and/or paying attention to detail. BUT, that's okay as long as your pet is seen by the owners and NO ONE ELSE!! read more
