'Fette Kuh' or the fat cow, in translation is a really popular and widely known burger place in…read moreCologne. I have heard a lot about it, but never quite decided myself to visit it. Till recently. With a group of 3 friends went there to try the so preached burgers. And OH MY GOD, it is worth it! But till you actually get to taste them, you will struggle with a lot of other things. For example the queue is huge. Like doesn't even matter if you go on weekends or trough the week, early or late, there will definitely be a queue. Then, after you order, the wait begins. take time with you. 20 minutes are easily in. So no you are bored, hungry and tired of the small talk people try to kill the time with... Suddenly your name is called. You get the burgers, but surprise. If you made the mistake to eat in, it will be impossible for you to actually find a table or place to sit. But if all this suffering is over, OMG you can get fett. The first bite, and you will realise why this place so popular is. The burgers are just amazing, to be honest I will go as far as saying the best I have ever tried. Meat prepared by own recipe, fresh veggies, and own sauces.... Your mouth will just explode from the mixture of fett and taste. So if you are in Cologne, and consider having a burger, don't consider any other places. This is the one to go to, even if it's not quite central, or easy to get to.

It's quite shocking for me to read such good reviews from americans about this place…read more I was here for the first time, and i was truly disappointed. I had a BBQ Bacon Burger, it was good, but nothing from other world. The paddy was big, 200 grs, cooked to the exact point, bacon crispy and tasted great, the BBQ was just regular bottle sauce from the Supermarket :/ the bun well, not the regular kind, but also nothing fancy, i found the patty a bit flavorless. The fries? Don't get me started! The waiting time was like quite a lot, but i'm not someone that complains about that, and i understand, because there is a lot going on here! But after the wait was over and my name was shouted, i got my burger, but no fries, but the guy behind the counter managed that pretty well, he apologized for it and told me i was going to get a big bowl, even though i ordered a small portion, and i also got 2 different sauces when i just ordered ketchup, KUDOS! The sauces overall were bad, flavorless. The Burger looked really great, i just don't know where the taste went, seriously! The service is... well... there? People are friendly, they are like really really under pressure, there are a lot of people coming and going. Like really a LOT of people. I've always heard pretty much only good things about this place and maybe i expected too much, but for me, it was truly just another burger joint with regular burgers. That's what really shocks me the most about the reviews from fellow american yelpers.

Korean BBQ meets the electric grill! This is the way to do Korean BBQ, I think, if you have an…read moreengagement after dinner. While the electric grill doesn't eliminate all the meat odor from your clothes, you could get by with a nice walk outside. (I did this before a concert and no one gave me the stink eye during the show, so I am assuming that my strategy succeeded.) Meat.ing is quality Korean BBQ in a chic setting. You will be comfortably full, but this is not what you would necessarily seek out to pig out. Its side dish offerings are delicious and apparently use very little or no MSG, evidenced by how comfortable my stomach felt after the meal. The kimchi is on the sour side, which I personally prefer in ramen soups rather than eating it as a side dish. But all the other side dishes made up for it. The meats are well prepared and quite tender. We came for dinner and chose Menu 1, which includes 3-layered pork belly, sirloin, and three types of marinated meats (chicken, beef, and pork). The marinade was a good balance of sweet and savory. The dinner offerings are stylized as course offerings, so you can expect appetizer (fried dumplings) and dessert (honey yogurt with fruit). Lovely dinner option in Koln and a must visit if you want a great Korean BBQ experience!

The friendly waitress greeted us with warm towels to clean our hands and a free dumpling appetizer (mandu) to start. The banchan (side dishes) were also a great variety (and for those unfamiliar with Korean restaurants, the plentiful side dishes are always free.) The presentation was also nice, and the meat was well-marinated. We chose Menu 1, which included pork, chicken, beef, samgyupsal, and bulgogi. Dinner ended with a refreshing yogurt/fruit dessert that was simple but hit the spot and cleansed the palette after a hearty meal- also included in the menu (complimentary). Cost was very reasonable, considering the sheer amount of food- 22.90 per person (excluding drinks). Another bonus- they use electric grills, which means no smokey charcoal smell on your clothes afterwards. Some people prefer coals, but I sometimes prefer the simple method of electric- seems better for the health too (less carcinogenic fumes, hopefully?). If you haven't been here yet, go! Service is very friendly, and most of the servers can speak English, Korean, and German very well. (Note: I've been to some of the best Korean BBQ places in America, and I have to say that European Korean BBQ is much different. Atmosphere is different, taste is slightly different, and I've yet to see a place offer LA galbi. It's the same way that Italian, Spanish, and even American cuisine is interpreted and presented drastically different in Europe, probably because of different ingredients, as well as the need to meet the European palette of the typical clientele. It's fascinating for me to go to Korean restaurants in Europe and see the cultural translation and spin on it.)
