Had to help plan my MIL's funeral about a month after planning my own Mom's funeral. I used a…read moredifferent Funeral Home (in Bucks County) for my Mom (unfortunately) and so I am comparing Cavanaugh to that one. All I have to say is dealing with the staff at Cavanaugh's was like night and day compared to what I went through at the another funeral home just a month earlier. A big plus is the staff and the crematorium. My MIL was cremated and they have their own crematorium so you can be assured that the body being cremated is your loved one. I highly recommend them. See details below. I initially contacted Cavanaugh when my MIL went into hospice and realized we should start planning. The women I spoke to who answered the phone was very patient and answered all my questions. She then sent me some literature for me to read that would help to explain the pricing. I received the literature in the mail and not long after my MIL passed and we decided to use the Norwood location since that is closest to my FIL's residence. Staff: Very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Gave great advice regarding flowers, planning the luncheon, etc.. They really went above and beyond with helping to finalize little details like, finding a pastor for the service, printing the prayer cards (we used our own words on the back) and then providing some encased in plastic to the family for keepsakes (not all do!), and making calls to locate the cemetery in NJ where a family plot was (we did not remember the name) just in case we wanted to have the urn buried in NJ, etc. Location: They have two convenient locations for folks living in the area, one in media and one in Norwood, PA. The Media location is where they do the cremations and Norwood sends loved ones there. I think the Norwood location is the original location and so it's a bit dated--in an old money sort of way--but not in an off putting way; it's perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. Pricing: The pricing is reasonable. After what I just went through a month before this funeral for basically the came things, I can honestly say Cavanaugh has very good pricing.

We learned that my brother passed away tragically and to be honest, we had no clue where to start. The rest of our family is all spread out so we did everything we had to do by phone. I was tasked to choose and contact a funeral home for arrangements. A quick google search showed that White-Luttrell was the closest to where my brother lived and had 5 star reviews. I picked up the phone on a Sunday morning and Jason answered my call. Again, having no clue what to do, what they would need, what I needed, what my last name was, or anything... Jason had such a kind and welcoming presence and it was much appreciated. Jason walked me through everything including what to expect next, when they would receive my brother from the county coroner, when we could expect his ashes to be ready, when the death certificate would be ready, and even filled out all the paperwork for me and simply needed my signature. I couldn't believe how seamless he made such an emotional process. My sister and I showed up 5 days later to meet Jason in person and retrieve the remains of our brother. While there, we were treated with the utmost respect and even humor, cause that's how my siblings and I have always been, laughing at all times (it's a great way to keep from sobbing 24/7). It was a fast visit. Jason had all the paper work prepared for us again, and we picked out a small urn for my brother's girlfriend. Signed some papers and swiped a credit card (FYI, cremation services are surprisingly way less money than I would have expected) and were headed out to learn to live with one less sibling. Cannot thank Jason enough for his kindness, compassion, and humor when my family needed it the most.

I would highly recommend the services of the White-Luttrell Funeral Homes. Directors Harold…read moreWhartnaby and Bruce Ertwine are extremely professional and caring. They will guide you through every step of planning a dignified funeral within your means, without being pushy, or trying to "up sell" you at every turn. They are very organized, and no details are forgotten or overlooked. I entrusted both my parents funerals to them, and they did not disappoint. Very happy with their services.

Sadly, our last memory of my beautiful sister was…read moretraumatizing and this will always be engraved in our heads because of their inadequacy and incompetence! We hired them to deliver what they advertised on their website "the funeral is an important opportunity to pay tribute to someone you loved. It is a time for relatives and friends to gather tell stories, to share memories, to acknowledge your loss and support one another" but instead, it was spent talking about how this did not even look like my sister and people were mortified. She looked like she was 80, not 48. I'd be more than happy to share pictures (privately) as to what kind of work they did. This image will always be engraved in our heads now and forever and we cannot change that. It was mortifying and a disgrace to my sister's memory. We requested a refund for a poor and unsatisfactory job (we think that's fair) however, they've stopped communicating after a few exchanged emails to resolve this matter. They have also taken down their negative reviews on their social media and webpage, so that makes me wonder how many other negative reviews have been taken down as well?. I would highly NOT recommend Kevin Lyons & The Marvil Family Funeral Home to anyone!!

However, from the moment Mr. Lyons came to pick up Mom's body till he said goodbye to us at the cemetery, our family was treated with the utmost respect and care. Mr. Lyons met with my father, sister, and I and explained everything thoroughly. He assisted my dad in choosing the casket and making arrangements for flowers, the obituary, and even contacted the church for us to make an appt. Mr. Lyons was kind and considerate. He did not try to sell us anything extra, nor did he recommend the highest price items. He was fair and professional. My mother's body was prepared for her funeral with the care and dignity. Mr. Lyons and his staff did an excellent job. Her makeup was perfect, as was her hair. She looked beautiful and natural, and I'm certain she would have been very pleased. If you need funeral services, I do not think you will be disappointed if you choose Lyons in Glenolden. I think they are trustworthy, professional, and very talented.
