Cameron is the guy you want to talk to. Out of all the locksmith companies we called, he was the only one to tell me that he could charge less if I got my key code from the dealership. We paid $25 for a key cut with this code, and it took about 10 minutes tops. He also specified the type of key he had in stock would not fit into our key fob, but he could order it. If you don't want to read the entire review, here's the cliff notes. They come, screw up your locks, leave, then want to charge you extra for coming back to fix their own mistakes. If I could give them a -5 star rating, I would. I've used their services twice with highly variable results. I used their services both times because of a roommate with an iq that hovers around 34 depending on if she took the Stanford-Binet test or the Standard revision of the Stanford-Binet. Said roommate lost a key and offered to make a copy of said key. I declined her offer and decided that she should pay to have the entire house rekeyed. The first time the service was quick and efficient. No complaints. Work was done in less than 1 hour. The second time, previously mentioned roommate refused to return the key upon being evicted. I told her I would have the house rekeyed at her expense. She did not respond, so I called Griffin again. I explained that I may not need them if I get a key and to call me before to see if I needed the key. They called me when the service man was at the front door. I told him I was waiting on the key, but I told him which locks needed to be replaced. By the time I find idiot roommate's key in the mail box, he's already taken all the locks off. I find him in his van about to work. "No, wait, I have the key." He says, "I'll just charge you the service fee." "That's fine." I pay the $35. He leaves. I check the locks. I notice that he screwed up the front deadbolt so that he's opposite from all the other doors. I notice that the kitchen door to the garage door no longer works. I call them back, and I'm told that it would be an additional service fee to fix those mistakes. We have a long discussion on the problems. I'm put on hold for 12 minutes. They say "Fine. $10 per lock that needs to be fixed." I think I can tackle the problem so I try to switch the timing on the front door deadbolt myself. This is some tricky stuff. I spend nearly 30 minutes on it. I call them back, and ask them to fix this one deadbolt. They say, "It'll be $10." I agree. She talks to the boss for a second. "I just talked to the boss. He said it would be an additional $60 to fix it." I say, "No thanks, " and I hang up. Screw that. Literally. I fix it in 3 minutes. Summary: They wanted to charge me for stuff they broke. I spent 30 minutes fixing it. How's that for a business model? I love paying others to break things in my house, and then spend time fixing it. P.S. I'm glad that Ding Bat roommate is out of here. read more

I'm not one to dwell on bad things, but I was told these guys were the best in town. There was a miscommunication, I wanted all new hardware and they though they were just going to rekey the locks, and so they had to go back to their place to get some stuff, and so they had to charge me for a second trip charge. OK... I called them back to fix a lock that wasn't working within a couple days and they repaired it at no charge. Then I had to call them back within a couple months to fix another one of the locks because it wouldn't work. They had to take it apart and clean it. They said that was a part they didn't replace because there was no need. He had me test the lock after he cleaned it and it was fine. They then charged me for the trip charge and put the end plate back on. I expressed that I was not happy and asked that my dissatisfaction be relayed to the owner or manager. After he left the lock didn't work! I had to loosen the plate he screwed on so that the lock would move again. I never heard from them again. When I told the friend that referred them to me, he told me the owner is a really good guy and he probably never found out about any off it... read more

Needed to duplicate a few keys to a lockbox that I own. Every other place in Bryan/College Station was either closed or their key machines did not work. At Griffin Locksmith, I was in and out in 5 minutes and the service was amazing, despite having a lot of customers there early on a weekday morning. I recently had to call on Griffin Locksmith to help me out when I had locked my house keys in the house at 8:45 PM. Went to get a copy of a key. Was in there for less than 2 minutes and only spent $3. Highly recommended for quick and good service.

Called in the morning; job completed by 2:00 p.m. Replaced and rekeyed two exterior locking doorknobs and even provided a replacement strike plate at no extra charge. Would definitely call again. read more

Called them earlier and they quoted me $70 to cut a new key from them. Called them later that afternoon with a OEM remote key from the factory and they were asking $120 for the cut, more than the dealer price and with my own key provided. The lackadaisical man I spoke with didn't seem to care when I told him he lost my business because he uncharged $50 from my previous quote. These guys are crooks, plain and simple. I've been to Griffin a handful of times and only once did I leave without having been rude to or wasn't flatly refused to purchase the items I was seeking, which they sell and had in stock. The young man recently working there who kindly cut me a copy of my house key did so with efficiency and kindness. Every single other employee gives me the impression they don't want my business, from the man I assume is the owner down to the women working the counter. I'd be surprised if that one decent employee sticks around long. I've left empty handed more often than not, even though they sell the items I wished to purchase. How they stay in business like this is beyond me. Gerald's Advanced Locksmith is just across town in College Station. He's professional and courteous and I wish I'd found him long before Griffin got on my last nerve. Use him instead, period. read more

After driving from El Paso to College Station to check on our son's apartment which had been unoccupied for several months due to the Pandemic, we found that the key did not work and we were locked out. It was Saturday morning at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend and the leasing office of the apartment complex was closed, no one answered the phone, there was no answering service, no emergency number or maintenance personnel on site. So we decided to call a locksmith. After spending 30 minutes calling three other Locksmith's, Griffin came to the rescue. We explained our situation and they went over pricing, verified we had a current lease for the apartment unit, luckily we had a copy on our phone, and asked for identification. They were then onsite in about 10 minutes. Cameron was friendly, quick and professional. After trying our key for several minutes he determined that the lock had failed. He was able to drill out the failed lock and replace it with a new one. One we called Griffin, the whole process took about an hour. As mentioned above, before coming out they told us there would be a $65 fee for the service call and $25 for the labor and If they had to replace the lock there would be a charge for the new lock and a fee for the installation. The new lock was $20 and the charged $15 for the labor to remove the old lock and install the new one. You get what you pay for so we were OK with the price and extremely happy with the service. We were only going to be in town Saturday afternoon, so Griffin really got us out of a bind. Based on their professionalism of verifying our lease, giving us an accurate estimate before doing the work and efficient and friendly service, I highly recommend them. read more

Worst experience I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and use someone else. After doing some searching there are much cheaper alternatives.

On time, courteous and professional. One of the locks had been damaged earlier, and he fixed it for an extra $5.

They charged over $ 500 for a lock, then charged a $ 45 trip fee and $85 for about 5 minutes of work. Most places do not charge a fee if you buy the part from them. Then they pre authorized my card 3 times because their "technology" screwed up. When I called them, all they said is the preauthorized should go away in a couple of days, there was nothing they could do and it was not a big deal. NOT TO THEM! They are knowledgeable about what works and doesn't work when it comes to locks. I wanted to have multiple heavy locks that could use the same key that I already had so I would only have to keep up with 1 key versus many. I was helped primarily by Dawn, and she is awesome! Everyone was nice to talk with and I will definitely be a repeat customer if I ever need anything again. Their pricing was much more affordable than what the local Nissan dealer quoted me, which was ridiculous. Please understand that another dealer might be more reasonable. It stinks that the modern keys are so very costly when a plain key used to cost $5, but I was able to get out with two keys, that I supplied (no guarantee from Griffin which is understandable) that were cut, coded, and the internal fobs working for about $200. I call that a deal since that was about what I was quoted from the dealer to get one plain chipped key. Call ahead for a quote and compare with your dealer, but I'll bet if you go here you will likely get off a better deal. read more
