I have NEVER had something like that happen from a business. Locals said that it was a den of illegal behavior. I cannot testify personally but the locals were strong in their option to STAY AWAY. Good hotel (beautiful) with excellent housekeeping and maintenance staff who were very kind and…read moresuper helpful. This hotel is an older, historic structure and is super quiet. No noise from other rooms or guests. I am convinced there are a few benign ghosts here (felt someone was walking behind me on stairs and watching me). This was creepy but fun. Large windows with lots of light and great views. Beds super comfortable. Great bathroom, instant hot water, heat lamp over bathtub. Abundant towels, free personal care items. Good climate control in room. Room super CLEAN! Restaurant seemed very nice, but limited menu options for diabetics and vegetarians. Jonathan is a great housekeeper- very fun to talk with, knew about history of hotel. He was very accommodating. Reception desk staff unfriendly, and could be more focused and guest-oriented - reading a book while interacting with us, no eye contact, spoke in monotone, seemed irritated and very annoyed by our simple questions about location of ice machine, workout room, luggage carts, and prices of snacks. Poor listeners. We felt like we were unwelcome while checking in. Was embarrassingly rude and unfriendly to an elderly visitor we invited to meet us in lobby. Messed up our reservations. All desk staff very unpleasant to deal with. Sometimes no one at desk for 15 minutes and no bell to ring to summon anyone. None of these people seem to like their jobs or hotel guests. We booked a reservation for a room with a fridge and microwave - ended up volunteering to help super friendly maintenance man Paul carry microwave and heavy fridge from another room 100 feet to our room because the room we were given had no fridge or microwave as we requested. This great hotel would be even more wonderful if it had better reception desk staff who were more focused on helping guests, more polite, who made eye contact, and were less focused with catching up on their personal reading or arguing with other staff. Otherwise, I would have given them five stars. Please remember to generously tip housekeepers and maintenance staff. They are the best in the world! This hotel is in a lovely, historic downtown area, safe, well illuminated parking, within walking distance of numerous restaurants and stores. Lots of visible law enforcement presence in safe area at night. Abundant free parking. I took several lengthy walks and really enjoyed myself (some towns have no sidewalks). Other hotels in Greeneville are on the highway and not within safe walking distance of any amenities And are in unsafe neighborhood. Kind of weird to have a piano in the lobby with a sign forbidding anyone to play it, sit on the piano bench and even forbidding anyone to even touch it. Why bother having a piano? Why can't the piano be touched?

I'm not sure what that wrinkled drape is covering behind the bar, but it's hideous. Service is good, not great, but they haven't been trained. Raw bar needs cocktail forks and crackers. Main dishes are just barely warm and not seasoned properly. Bake fresh rolls and serve hot! It's like a country menu that tried to grow up. Desserts are shameful.

We checked in around 11:15 PM after a long drive from Atlanta on the night of 6/2, expecting a…read morerestful night before continuing our trip to VA early the next morning. We had stayed at this location several times previously as a midpoint between Atlanta and VA. Unfortunately, the hotel lost power around midnight for several hours, leaving guests without air conditioning on a hot summer night and causing significant disruption. Another guest even became trapped in the elevator and required assistance from the Fire Department, adding to the commotion. What made the situation particularly frustrating was that the hotel was aware of the planned outage in advance, yet no proactive notification was provided despite having my contact information through my BW reservation. I only learned about the outage through a casual conversation at a nearby gas station directly prior to check-in. Had I been informed ahead of time, I would have made alternative accommodations. When I raised my concerns the next morning and simply asked about refund options, the front desk associate was dismissive, argumentative, and repeatedly placed responsibility on me for not canceling my reservation. This was especially unreasonable given the non-refundable booking terms and the fact that we arrived late at night with few practical alternatives. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience, I was told that I should contact the utility company, which was clearly not an appropriate resolution. I appreciate that the manager, perhaps owner, that ultimately came out front, as she was calm, professional, and willing to listen. However, the employee's lack of empathy, accusatory tone, and insistence on shifting responsibility to the guest significantly worsened an already difficult experience. At point telling me to "Leave....Just Leave....Leave!!" after I stated that her tone was overly apathetic . This situation was not simply about the power outage itself, but about the hotel's failure to communicate in advance and the poor customer service that followed.

This place was an absolute dump. Someone had a dog in this room, and you can see the pee stains on…read morethe carpet, and it smelled. Closet door was broke, Phone didn't work, Ceiling stucco was dropping, toilet seat was loose, no towels in the room when we checked in, Bed was literally 8 inches from the wall A/C unit so you could not get into bed on that side, curtains were stained, and they didn't even clean our room the last day. I had to keep going down to get towels and wash cloths from the desk. They need to just burn this place down and start over because there is too much wrong with it. If you considering staying here please keep looking at other options and not here. Real Slum Lords run this place.
