Let me start by saying that my first experience with travel was with the Greyhound Bus company. I enjoyed the trips very much! I remember the chairs with the little TV's that you had to put money into to watch a program! Great stuff back there in the 1980's! But I must let you know that the service has slipped since that time. Many of the major stations have closed, leaving passengers outside. Also, the Customer Service Agents are hazardous to customers. I met an agent at Port Authority in Manhattan, NY that was dating an enemy of mine, that being said you can guess that I got the worst service ever from Greyhound. I was stranded at Port Authority for several days due to her poor customer service efforts. She would not refund my ticket nor schedule me for the next bus. After a days of a long mix up, I was refunded my money. Next, I would like to say Greyhound purchased Flixbus, that being said I want to say that it was awful dealing with this new addition as well. There were mean Asian Customer Service Rep. that refused to refund my ticket. Then an Indian Customer Service reps, on the phone, took my banking info but he did not return my money to the account. To conclude, I must say, when I thought thing could not get any worst, I was in an accident on a Greyhound Bus. First the driver drove off route. Then, he drove into a ditch. The bus almost topple over on its side in slow motion. The bus company was called but never the police. After an assessment, a new bus was sent to continue on. Get this, the same driver who had the accident continued on, to deliver the passengers to the destination. He wasnt taken to the hospital for evaluation. The worst... Ok this past weekend I took a round trip from NYC to MD and back. I left NYC at 2:00pm on Friday and honestly did not have any issues at Port Authority at all. My gates was assigned I arrived earlier hardly even a line....heck I had my own seat all they way to MD. However, my issue with Greyhound is the inconsistency with service. I know things happen when traveling on the roadways but your equipment must be up to par...AT LEAST. SOOOO on the way back before we could even get on the bus good, the driver is telling us that the bus is old and not running that well?!?!? We need to keep our coats on because the heat is not working, it may get up to 60...smh. But what else can we do so we board the icebox and honestly the ride was fine...until the last 1/2 mile. The bus breaks locked up and caught FIRE...YES FIRE!!! The dilemma was of course some people wanted to jump off the fiery bus into traffic...the only thing that kept me calm was I could see the bus station from where we broken downtown. When were let off the bus I just hiked to the subway. Other people like the elder and folks with large bags had to walk and wait...smh. I cant say I will never ride greyhound but just let this be a warning. They seem to have no real protocol if the bus is on FIRE!!! read more

Extremely late busses, no communication when this occurred, and the phone help was worthless and kept trying to cancel our tickets rather than fix them. over all good, my bus journey great. but trying to contact their station or talk to anyone who may be able to locate a missing item is impossible. i know where i left item, what stop, where it should be. but i can't get any information- find a station is just for booking not for contact. if they find and return my list item i'll revise this to 5 stars but tryin to hunt this down feels impossible. i can't get ahold of anyone who can help/ the station (not stop) i need to talk to i will say usually amazing- customer service post journey with issues has kinda sucked. read more

Atrociously bad service-- never use Greyhound! Now that I see lots of other bad reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor, I realize I'm not the only one.... This past Saturday I had a ticket to go from Boston to Newark, NJ. The bus from Boston was almost 2 hours late. No Greyhound employee at South Station seemed to know what was going on, have any updates or be able to suggest anything. It was supposed to leave Boston at 1:00 and actually left just before 3:00 pm. Once on that bus, we made it to about Natick (30 mins) before the bus driver began repeatedly pulling over. He let the passengers know the temperature gauge was elevated and he was calling Greyhound. They told him to continue driving. We made it to Hartford at about 5:00, where we waited for about an hour. The driver was waiting for a call back from Greyhound after letting them know he didn't feel safe driving the bus anymore. There was another bus scheduled to leave at 6:00. The driver couldn't tell us anything because he was waiting for a call back. The employees at the ticket window had no info, no suggestions, zero solutions. They said they'd see what happened when the 6:00 bus arrived. I wanted to be sure I got on that bus, which they told me was nearly full, so I purchased a second ticket. That bus arrived and the drivers spent 45 minutes trying to determine how to handle the situation and load the bus. We finally departed at 6:45. Some people did not get on, but I did because I had a ticket, which I should never have had to buy. The next stop was the GW Bridge bus terminal. Once in the Bronx and Manhattan, the driver kept making wrong turns. Finally, at 9:30, I ended up getting off the bus at the GWB stop. I was originally supposed to arrive in Newark (the next stop) at 6:05 pm. I got to upper Manhattan at 9:00 pm. The next day when I called customer service, they told me I had to request a refund online because the ticket was for the previous day. I submitted my request, explaining all of this. I got a reply that they would not only not refund both tickets, which I thought was fair, but would NOT EVEN refund the second one from Hartford to NYC that I NEVER should have had to buy! I was shocked at how poor the customer service was. At the very, very least, I should have been able to get a refund for one ticket, but really both because the trip was delayed 3 hours. Their own website says their policy is that you can request a refund if you are 2 hours delayed in departing, which my first bus was. In addition, I should have been able to expect I would get to my destination and not have to buy any other tickets, so I should be refunded for both. read more

Customer service is a slogan and a pretense but it isn't anywhere to be found in reality. there is no way to speak to anyone other than people taking your money for booking a ticket. That's all you need to know about greyhound pretend customer service. I guess greyhound isn't alone in this. It's the genuis marketing dystopian nightmare from every big corp. but it is pathetic none the less. I left something of personal value in my seat. I have the bus info, seat 6B... the bus is arriving at nyc port authority and there's no way to speak to anyone who can help. Greyhound sucks and their phone robots suck and they will tell you all day how much they care and appreciate your choosing to give them your cash...They are a hollow, lame, crappy corporation without a soul or any possibility of care or concern for anyone or anything other than getting a buck as easy and quick as they can. As someone who works for another Transportation Company Greyhound has become a horrible business to travel on every morning when I come into work in Newark Penn Station there are passengers from Greyhound who have been sitting and waiting for their bus to come for hours if not days sometime people should really save themselves the heartache and not even travel with them from what I understand they were bought out by Flex Bus Flex Bus is proving to be horrible at customer service because they don't give people any solutions or answers and people are left standing outside in unsheltered areas waiting for buses that may not come for hours on end please if you're thinking about taking the bus at least this bus company think twice about it because their buses don't run on time they have no customer service people at their locations and if you get stranded you're nine times out of 10 going to have to buy a ticket with another company to get to your destination read more

It was an ok bus station. it is pick up transfer to the port authority in Brooklyn, NY, when I would travel with greyhound buses out of town in port authority and I have a problem with my ticket I would come down here to talk to sales representative instead of going away to manhattan - port authority bus terminal ( some people prefer to talk to live person instead of an operator over the phone ), it is very convenient for Brooklynites. read more

If you buy a non-refundable ticket and THEY don't show up, they won't reimburse you. I repeat. THE BUS did not pick us up from the station. And customer service simply told me that because my ticket was not refundable, they can't help me. They are thieves. They stole $86 from me. Use Megabus instead. read more

Booked a round trip ticket from State College, PA to Rockaway, NJ. First leg of the trip was fine, second leg of the trip was non-existent. The bus never showed. Greyhound will not issue a credit. I'm out money for gas, a hotel room, and the second leg of the trip. read more

When I got to port authority 3:30pm..I went to information booth n asked where would I purchase ticket for Atlanta City I was send all the way to the back of port authority.. There I was told go to gate 79..At gate 79 I was told I have to go back upstair..right off escalator..once there to late to purchase ticket for the 4 o'clock bus. I do e print ticket for 5pm..4:45 pm no bus.5:10 bus show up..no air condition..5:35 still waiting in the port authority...first n last time I will be taken greyhound..question if I would of miss my bus greyhound would charge me $20 to reschedule my trip 5:47 47 mins later do grey hound give me $20 for them being late...42st port authority horrible...-10 read more

DO NOT BOOK! DO NOT BOOK!!!! If 0 stars was an option, I would do that. This company DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. Here's why: I purchased a round trip bus ticket on 7/19/22 for 8:30am bus on 8/12/22 from NY, NY to Albany, NY & return on 8/14/22 at 6pm from Albany, NY to NY, NY. On FRI 8/12, my 8:30am bus from NY, NY to Albany was CANCELLED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE (no text, email, or phone call), & I had to find out through calling customer service at 6:30am when I was getting error messages to check into my bus. I called customer service where the woman informed me my bus was cancelled. On top of that, after asking about my returning bus (that I was supposed to be riding with my partner) is SOLD OUT & that we are both not ticketed passengers for that bus; EVEN THOUGH WE BOTH PAID ALMOST A MONTH AGO. The woman rescheduled me for the 9:50am bus to Albany&the 5:40pm return that following SUN without my 100% approval as I needed to speak to my partner to confirm if these times are plausible. I asked the customer service woman repetitively if I would get a full refund if I was not able to go on the bus as I needed to speak to my partner who WAS SLEEPING about how I am going to make my way up to Albany now as this bus is at my inconvenience. I called to cancel & she stated I needed to email Greyhound. Greyhound is refusing to give me a refund. After taking the Metronorth to Poughkeepsie where my partner was required to drive 2hrs to pick me up & another 1.5hrs back to Albany, we spoke and decided that he call Greyhound to confirm that we would like to take the 5:40pm bus on SUN 8/14/22 to go back to NY, NY as we have work at 7am the next day & we do not have WFH jobs. We were confirmed for this new bus time. At 2:18 that SUN, I received an email from Greyhound stating that there was a change in my bus, but didn't see until 4pm. if negative stars were an option id give a lower rating, horrible company that will undoubtedly fail if it keeps treating costumers like trash. myself and 2 friends (along with 10-12 other people) were traveling from new York to Pittsburgh on July 6th 2022 at 1:30 am , We were all instructed to wait at gate 81/82 myself the 2 people I was traveling with and 10-12 other people were all there waiting for the bus one hour prior (12:30 am) to its scheduled departure at 1:30 am on the 6th of July , 1:30am July 6th came and went , at 1:45am a greyhound bus terminal employee approached all travelers that were waiting for the bus that it had already left from gate 64 and that we should go upstairs to get a refund, at which point customer service agent at the front desk told myself, the 2 others I was traveling with and 10-12 other furious costumers to go online to request a refund , as of this review I was only offered voucher for myself and the 2 others I was traveling with , and no explanation as to why a refund is not an option , even though greyhound is fully responsible for misinforming myself the 2 people I was traveling with and 10-12 others about the departure gate , they refused giving me (and surely the other 10-12 furious customers) a refund for a mistake that was fully greyhounds fault , I would walk from new York to Pittsburgh 10 times over and still not consider riding with greyhound ever again , save your money and rent a car or get a flight to where ever you are going because greyhound will not own up to any of its mistakes, exhaust all option before even considering greyhound and even then id cancel my trip before ever using this garbage excuse for bus service company read more

Had to take this Greyhound to Atlantic City, DONT DO IT, if possible, the bus smelled of urine from the moment you step into it.... God Bless You, if you have to use the lavatory, its from hell and you cannot breathe in it. The windows were streaked with dirt, the floors were filthy, and I was actually afraid to lay my head back on the headrest for fear of bedbugs, that is how unclean the bus was. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT? Unsanitary, unhealthy, and they give the Greyhound dogs a poor name .... ugh. I attempted to take Greyhound for the first time. The trip was to have left at the 206 Livingston Street location at 9:10 on Saturday May 26, 2018. I was at the station before 8:am an I left at 10:15 and a bus never arrived. The representative who told me his name was "EP" was ineffective and lost. Before I left, he stated that he was unable to to contact Manhattan.There were about 20 people there and the Customer service rep at the Greyhound number stated that bus had visited Brooklyn and was on its way to Atlantic City. Hey all, I dont usually write feedback posts, but I just experienced the worst travel experience with Greyhoud bus USA. I had a bus booked from Boston to Atlantic city, via New york city. The Boston bus took off 30 min late. The ride was pretty ok. Once we reached Manhattan, the driver freaked out and started running the bus in circles within the city. He hit a pavement, backed up on a signal nearly hitting cars, until they honked. By now everyone in the bus were uncomfortable. A passenger had to look into his google maps and guide the driver to the bus station. Finally I made it to Port authority NY bus station an hour delayed from my expected arrival. That meant my connecting bus to Atlantic city had already left. After figuring my way inside the bus station, I finally found greyhound helpdesk. It was midnight by now. I went to the lady and told her that my connecting bus left because their incompetent driver didnt make it on time. The rude African american lady replied screamingly, "So what am I suppose to do". We will rebook you to the next bus which departs at 7:30am in the morning. As if she was doing a big favor for me. I was shocked and perplexed at the same time. I mean for all the mess they had made, they could "Atleast" give a sincere apology. I was obviously charged for my overnight hotel booking in Atlantic city. And I had to spend a cold night walking in Times Square. All due to the incompetent Greyhound bus service. Now Im on way to Atlantic city boarding the 7:30am bus. And yes there was a Cop scene in the bus, where a passenger was thrown off by calling a cop. Thats a whole another story. I called the hotel people and they said they dont have my reservation, as I didnt checkin on time. Even though booking.com charged me the full room amount as it was past cancellation period. IF I CAN GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. First off, I highly recommend everyone to go to the original location in Manhattan NOT IN BROOKLYN. 2 of my friends and I called the location beforehand 3 TIMES (212-222-8470) to make sure we didn't waste a trip, but it rang continuously. So, we disregarded it. We drove down to this location to see if they can do refunds/exchanges for our tickets. We get there, the worker was SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. Right off the bat, he said to a customer how "he couldn't wait to quit" before we even inquired about our request. Once we asked him, he gave us a short and sarcastic answer of "no, he can't. because the tickets are print-at-home." As concerned customers, we were asking him the next steps to take... yet, he was being so disrespectful and condescending saying "wait in line. I'll answer you one-by-one" in front of a handful of customers trying to embarrass us. maybe, as an employee, he should've ANSWERED THE PHONE when it rang to avoid this issue for all of us. I even called the location while we were there to make sure the number was correct- it rang with neglect. UNBELIEVABLE. WE ARE NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN. read more
