Terry was referred to me by a co-worker and he delivered. The first time I spoke to him I told him my current tribulations and by the time we hung up he was able to explain to me some things I didn't know about our protections as Pittsburgh residents and how permitting works with master electricians. He was able to confirm in less than 15 minutes after speaking the other said "electrician" did not, in fact, pull a permit. Terry came by the house within a couple days and saw the shoddy work of the other as well as clearly identified a fire hazard and immediately protected our home by disconnecting what he needed to keep us safe until the actions could be taken to rectify the problem. The work was done in a day, including the inspection, so he has some good rapport with the right people at the city, this is unheard of where I have been for a decade. Also, when the time came, he did more work than he expected just to correct what wasn't done right by the first guy at no additional cost. Terry also went out of his way when I called and asked for a written statement for my credit card company about what needed to be corrected and completed to ensure I could get my money back. He didn't require a deposit nor my credit card info and he only accepts checks so although I didn't get miles for the expense, I got piece of mind, and it is well worth it! I am very appreciative I found them and I will keep them in my pocket for future use and referral. I tried to go the less expensive route and got nothing but heartache. When I did things correctly I got more than expected and a fair deal.

For example, in my case I needed 8 recess recessed lighting in my room they quoted 1350 with two switches. In the job, the guy asked me 75$ for extra wire which was never communicated before the job. Once job was done guy asked me 125$ extra for putting one extra switch in the same box. After being asked for extra money I ended up buying double dimmer single switch from home depot for 30$.

One hundred percent of the work was unusable. After further investigation, I discovered that Ray is not licensed or insured and does not hold a valid Home Improvement Contractor license. Had this been disclosed upfront, I would never have allowed him on the job. When I started calling Ray out on the poor workmanship and asking for answers, his attitude immediately changed. Instead of fixing the problem, he became defensive and evasive. The situation escalated when Ray entered the property without authorization, which was captured on my security cameras, went into the basement, and removed the boiler. We are now dealing with attorneys, court fees, and court proceedings as a result. He is extremely unorganized, constantly pushes jobs off, and drags timelines out endlessly. What should have been a straightforward job turned into nearly three months of delays and excuses. Do not use this company. Stay away. Buyer beware. Don't say I didn't warn you.

They even stayed late into Friday night to make sure all the radiators bled and the heat was running properly as it should. It was a complicated job, but it turned out to be a reasonable bill, and these knights in shining armor even put my garage door, which I had reversed into that day, back on its tracks for me! Ray went above and beyond to make sure the water damage stopped and that my pipes wouldn't freeze by fixing the problem as quickly as possible. He also never speaks down to you and helps you understand what's going on in a really helpful way, and he is super responsive to calls and texts. The heat is working better than ever, and I cannot recommend him and his team highly enough!

Re-engaging with this business after an initially positive outcome installing a video doorbell was a serious and expensive mistake. While the electrician that was dispatched was professional and completed the work, the inability to price services in line with the competition is compounded by an arbitrary total that is placed on the bill. An alternative local provider charges $110 for the installation of a ceiling fan. In comparison, Northern Electrical, LLC will charge you $195 just to "roll a truck" and refuses to acknowledge that they're not the only business servicing applicable areas. If you think ~$410 is a fair rate for 90 minutes of labor to install a ceiling fan (prior fixture was already removed), a light switch and two outlets (which I was told I should have paid more because they didn't get to supply the parts and mark them up), then you may need an Economy 101 class to optimize your finances. Steer clear of Northern Electrical, LLC unless you like wasting money on overpriced services and non-itemized billing rates.
