Dr. Gregory Douglas has almost completely stitched up my vagina during the perineal repair process. I had a third degree perineal tear after I delivered my baby. Dr. Douglas had given me unnecessary stitches where he went beyond the perineum and placed extra stitches that significantly closed my vaginal opening.
I experienced constant pain and pulling after the repair and felt that something wrong was done to my body. After one week of suffering I went to another doctor who examined me and confirmed that the repair did not look right. She recommended a second evaluation in four weeks when I stop bleeding and heal completely after birth. When I returned in four weeks she confirmed that I was stitched too tightly. She apologized for all medical professionals and looked sorry that this had happened to me.
I felt betrayed and completely devastated. The way Dr. Douglas did the repair left me with constant pain and made it physically impossible to have sex.
About two months later I saw yet another doctor. This doctor eventually did a surgery where she cut the vaginal opening back again. I was told that there was 1.5 centimeters of stitched together tissue, which means 3 centimeters of total tissue length.
I am surprised to see positive reviews for Drives. Douglas. I assume that he can be different... somehow choosing who would be victims of his unprofessional conduct and his gross negligence.
I saw Dr. Douglas two times - right before I went into active labor and after birth when he came in to place stitches. During both visits he was unprofessional. He never explained any procedures he was going to do. When he did my vaginal exam he would just dip his gloved hand into gel and come up waiting for me to pull off the sheet and spread my legs. He would not let me know what he was going to do. Instead he acted like I had to guess his intentions and looked irritated when I hesitated or questioned what was going on. When my husband questioned Dr. Douglas' recommendation to fast forward my labor, he said that my husband was micromanaging me, though my husband was simply trying to help and advocated for me.
My husband and I did not want to argue with him. All we wanted was to welcome our baby into this world with love and peace. It is outrageous to me that people like Dr. Douglas are allowed to practice and mistreat women in their most vulnerable state.
In the hospital I had a number of nurses taking care of me. Sarah, Cara, and Dawn deserve a separate review because they all were angels.
I hope my review will raise the awareness and warn future mothers-to-be of Dr. Douglas' actions and conduct so that they may not suffer at the hands of his unprofessionalism. read more
