This is a nice little cafe with outside seating in summer…read more Their prices however make Cafe Nero down the road look cheap. A "normal cup" -sized latte costs you £3 odd, whereas in Cafe Nero an "american-oversized-cup" size costs you £2.99. Shocking. Also the staff here are quite miserable/snooty.

A rather large Pret A Manger store located on Northgate Street in Chester city centre, it is…read morelocated fairly close to the Market and opposite Vision Express. While the store feels nice and has a good feel to it, with a good amount of seating both upstairs and down I was a little disappointed with my overall experience here in comparison to other Pret stores. The service was pretty slow, for some reason at a busy period they only had one member of staff both taking orders and making drinks with no staff member to be seen other than her, I only came in for a pre-bottled Orange Juice, normally I could be in and out within 60 seconds but sadly it took longer here, to make matters worse when I did get it, the orange juice tasted off and rather bitter, even though it wasn't close to the expiration date. It is a pretty narrow door to get in, possibly because one half of the double door isn't working, somehow it did also open when I was leaving the store, it sort of swung both ways so it didn't appear to be that safe either. In terms of overall feel, this is one of the nicer branded coffee shops in Chester centre but with poor beverage quality and slow service, there isn't many other positives about this place, and I'll stick to the slightly better Starbucks a couple of stores down the road when in Chester in the future. 2*
Just another typically over priced but convenient cafe…read more The location of this shop is great for grabbing a bite and a coffee after a long day shopping. However, I ordered food from here and it wasn't very nice. I could tell the macaroni cheese had been sitting under the heat too long as I almost broke my teeth trying to bite through the darn thing! Anyhow, great for a quick coffee or healthy and refreshing drink!

They have a good range of pasties including several vegetarian options (including spicy vegetable, mushroom and cheese and brocolli). The prices are reasonable; cheaper than getting a packaged sandwich but more expensive than a rubbish pasty from a certain bakery chain which will remain nameless. The Pasty Place also offers a range of sweet pasties as well as cookies, crisps and drinks which are priced at the usual small shop rates. There is rarely a queue, but this is because the service is so quick, rather than a lack of customers

The bakery includes homemade cakes and pies and my two favourites are the carrot cake and the delicious chocolate brownies. They also stock fresh breads and baguettes of various shapes and sizes. They stock my wife's favourite pudding too - Cartmel's Sticky Toffee pudding, yummy. Depending on what time you go, especially around lunch time, it can be quite busy. As with many smaller businesses you soon get to know the staff, who are all really nice.
