They're very consistent with their quality and although there are other nice bakeries in York, for me, none of them compete with Thomas's. Thomas the Baker is really cheap too, it's possible to get a decent lunch there for a couple of quid. The only bad thing I can say is that it's unhealthy but then again all bakeries are!

It was going to be Valentine's day after all! I'm told that it was delicious, so I'm glad I made that choice. I bought a set of six mini breakfast jams as well, for a friend, and they were totally bargainous. I wasn't wrong - inside Moores is as quaint and, for want of a better word, sweet, as it appears from the outside. People should be warned that this is not your Greggs-style bakery, but an independent establishment where really care is taken in creating and baking the pastries. The delicacies are so indulgent and perfectly sugared that you'll probably find yourself going back to Moores for more. Luckily, I followed my fruit pastry up with some boiled sweets, meaning that, for the time being at least, I'm sweet enough.

I shouldn't have to make an excuse to go here - It's excellent. The ground floor is their outstanding chocolate and cake shop - definitely worth spending some time here tasting and choosing what they have on offer. Their selection of over 40 celebration cakes on display are stunning - you'll find yourself staring at them like some sort of art. A few of the wedding cakes are pushing £1,000.. asking if it would be worth it? For me, yes! Their cakes are amazing - no wonder Wayne Rooney bought his wedding cake from here and had it shipped to Italy. You'll find me with my face pressed up against the viewing window where you can watch the cake decorators working hard to perfect these masterpieces *drool* I'm certainly not planning my wedding or anything but I already know that there's a massive possibility that my cake will be from here.
