After my stylist and friend of 10+ years moved out of state and two traumatic salon experiences later, the universe (or algorithm, but I'll choose universe) sent me Gregga L.A. on instagram. Their instagram and website are user friendly and highly informative so that clients know exactly what they'll be getting. Appointments are needed and can be booked on the main website. My appointment was with Carina, and she is my new hair stylist angel. I initially booked for a foilyage, but turned it into a bold-color-yage (my new term, hehe). The base is essentially a foilyage, but with Carina's magic made it lilac/violet. It was a long process that took about 6 hours, as expected, due to my dark hair going light. During this time, Carina made sure I was comfortable, hydrated, and somehow I also felt like a new bestie with the great talks we had. Overall, it was a great experience and I am beyond happy with how my hair turned out. I can't wait to come back and get my hair maintained and to catch up! Thank you so much Carina! read more

Run, don't walk to Gregga salon!! I've been on the search for The Haircut for a long time. I'm talking the kind where the stylist looks at your face shape, hair type, and preferred maintenance level and then delivers on your goals at a great price point. Dani accomplished just that! I really appreciate how she took the time to read my form, which is amazing that Gregga has you fill out a form in advance, and then walked me through what my haircut could look like. She was also so fun to chat with. I went to a flea market after the salon and several people asked me where I got my hair done and I swiftly pointed them to check out the salon. read more

I love this place so much. Everyone here is so sweet and amazing, the vibe of the whole salon is so fun. I always recommend Gregga to anyone in need of a haircut. I, so far, have gotten my haircut by Amy and Carina, and both have slayed me so hard. You truly cannot go wrong here. I LOVE GREGGA LA! read more

I got a bixie done here a few months ago and it has grown out so cute. The vibe is great, trendy, and my stylist thoroughly understood what I wanted. I'm only going to get my hair cut here from now on! read more

Had the best experience here with Carina! I got a balayage and a haircut done with her and I love it so much. Even with just a few hours together, I trust her vision and expertise with hair. Everyone here is also so nice, welcoming, and really make you feel comfortable during the appointment. This will definitely be my go-to salon here in LA! read more

Erika moved away so Amy's been cutting my hair over the past year or so and she is WONDERFUL. She makes my fine, limp hair feel textured and bouncy. Seriously skilled and just the sweetest person. Love this salon, won't go anywhere else! read more

Gregga Prothero gave me the BEST haircut I've ever had in my life! No exaggeration. She knew exactly what I was trying to explain and envision. I really appreciate that the salon sends out a form to fill out where I could include reference photos and explain what I was going for prior to the haircut. I think that makes the experience a lot better because the stylist and the client have a little bit more understanding prior to when they actually meet for the haircut. I am very loyal to the hairstylist. I've had over the last 20 years and I'm really happy to say that I found Gregga. Also, the interior of the salon is gorgeous and they have excellent styling products. The value for the service I got was incredible. I highly suggest if you would like to find a new salon you can stay loyal to that you check out Gregga LA. I'll be back! read more

I found Gregga's salon by chance and I'm so grateful I took a chance with them! I decided I needed to chop off my peakaboo balayage, and I got paired with Amy. When I say Amy is amazing... Amy. IS. AMAZING. She greeted me as soon as I walked in, and the first thing I noticed was how cute her hair was! So I knew I was in good hands. She knew immediately how to balance my desired cut with my face shape. On top of that, she was attentive, relaxing and such a pleasure to chat with. I started with a cut today, and I am looking forward into venturing into more adventurous hair territory with her in the future :) Oh! And the icing on this beautiful cake is that it's located in super cute plaza with ample parking. Next door there is a cute cafe (Lemon Poppy), and since I had a bit of time before my appointment, I hopped over and snagged an Iced Americano with the fluffiest, buttery buttermilk biscuit I've ever had. It came with butter and a silky berry jam that put me in heaven - but that's another review. Thank you Amy, can't wait to be back! read more

Amy is wonderful! I had a root touch up, all over hair color, and haircut. My hair was bland and heavy, she gave me exactly what I was looking for. Leaving my hair light with movement and covering my grays! She gave me her professional advice while still listening to what I wanted. The communication was amazing! 10/10 in every possible way! The salon itself is super calming and clean. Can't wait to go back again! read more

I've been seeing gregga for years now! Followed her from when she was in hawaiian gardens, to LA, and now to her very own salon! She's been able to recreate every look I've asked of her, and she's the only one I've trusted to dye my thick black hair over the years. I always get compliments months after getting my hair done because of the color placement and her shampoo/conditioner recommendations have helped me keep up with it. I am currently a student and I work and she definitely makes the time to fit in my busy schedule. Not only that the cost is more than reasonable for the amount of work she puts in. She even gives me tips on how to style my hair or any products that will help it. read more

I found Gregga on Instagram because a friend liked them so apparently the algorithm popped them into my feed. Glad it did for once! I had my first appt there today, with Amy, and she was awesome and I'm super happy with my cut! Amy made me feel super comfortable and it was a great experience overall. Very cute place, and bonus is it's next to Lemon Poppy Kitchen. read more

I needed to change up my hair with a cut and something fun, and Monica really hooked me up with both! She helped me with deciding what would be both healthiest and the best looking for my hair, and we ultimately decided on dying my hair black with a pop of pink on my bangs, as well as doing a wolf cut. I wanted to keep my hair length, and she did a really good job with the layers while still preserving length. Overall, I felt really taken care of at Gregga, Monica did such an amazing job with the color and cut, I don't think I'll go to any other salon from this point forward. If you're thinking about it, do it. Lizelle is my girl. She got me! I had been bouncing around stylists, never really feeling comfortable anywhere else. Lizelle is great because she understands what I want and knows what she's doing. My hair feels so soft and healthy. And my hair gets all the compliments. My Lyft driver even said "People say perfection doesn't exist but there it is, your hair." Really glad I found this salon. Everyone seems really nice and the vibe is pretty chill. Beautiful, clean salon where the bright colors immediately fill you with great energy. I love having an excuse to come out from Midcity LA to get in some self-care! This review in particular goes out to Monica, who's a certified BEAST in fun colors & tones. She's done my hair 3 times now & every single time I come out looking & feeling incredible. I've been every color of the rainbow except for all black; going into our last appointment I only knew which colors I wanted on my head & NOTHING ELSE! So this color melty charcoal to neon balayage goodness you see here was completely Monica's idea. She also refreshed my money piece & layers & made sure I was comfortable the entire time. If you're feeling bored or uninspired & want a sexy lil change, look no further than Monica & Gregga LA!!! read more

I looked high and low for hair stylists that had portfolios that showcased hair cuts and not just color jobs and found Erika at Gregga. I've always been meh/laidback about my haircuts - every hair cut I've gotten has been okay, but never good enough for me to commit to one hair stylist. However, I think that's changed today! Erika really listened to my concerns and what I was looking for, often consulting me throughout the process and making me feel comfortable enough to voice my opinion. She also walked me through what she was doing as she was blow drying/styling my hair as I voiced that I didn't like the way it waved after it dries, which no one has historically had the patience to do. She styled it straight, made a few more cuts, and even gave me beach waves to show me how it would look wavy. Overall service at Gregga is also top-knotch. They ask you comfort level with mask on/off, whether you're allergic to anything ahead of washing your hair, etc. They're extremely thoughtful of their customers and that alone goes the extra mile with me. Their booking system is extremely easy online (I was able to make a next-day appointment online) and all pricing is available online. Definitely looking forward to returning once I want to color my hair! read more

A friend of mine recommended Amy because I loved her most recent cut. Unfortunately, my schedule didn't align, so I had a cut with Gregga herself. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best haircut I have ever gotten! She totally understood the assignment and how to give me what I was looking for while also keeping in mind my hair type. Gregga gave my long, fine, straight hair shape and bounce and somehow even discovered that I have natural waves??? Even after a wash and air dry it looks incredible. She was also great at giving me low maintenance product recommendations. Cannot recommend this place enough!! read more

Just had my hair dyed for the first time ever with Lizelle - highly recommend! Lizelle was great at answering all my questions leading up to the appointment. I was a little worried about such a big change but she did a great job in turning my virgin hair blonde, while keeping my hair super healthy. Looking forward to coming back. I've been coming here to see Monica for about a year and a half and I'll never go anywhere else! The salon itself is so relaxed and cute -- and Monica is AMAZING. I've been to her for both cut and color; sometimes, I go in and tell her exactly what I want, and she does it, but even better! And then, after wearing long hair for my entire life I went to her and asked for something short but I didn't really know what I wanted and she gave me a short cut that I am obsessed with. And she's such a lovely, funny, and sweet human being. Love Gregga so much. read more

I 100000% percent recommend Gregga LA for any of your hair needs! Erika gave me my detailed haircut for today. Gregga Does NOT disappoint. I don't trust anyone else with my hair! After years of wanting an ash blonde look but not receiving it, I found Gregga who made all my hair dreams come true. I live in South LA and drive to Glassell Park for this haircut, that should be indication enough of how much I have loved my past two cuts. You can really customize your experience with their online scheduler, i.e. if you want to have a chill or chatty appointment, bang trim or full cut, etc. You can send pictures before your appointment so you're both on the same page. And there is always parking which is a huge must in LA. Gregga is great! I always leave feeling confident and ready to take on the world. Already scheduled my next appointment! read more

I've been seeing Gregga since she was at This or Die in Atwater. When she opened her own salon in the middle of the pandemic, of course I followed her there! Not only is she a brilliant and super talented hair stylist, she is such a warm, kind, friendly, and overall lovely person. She does a great job taking care of her clients, making sure that the end result is exactly what you ask for. She is very professional with her consultations and will let you know what is possible or not possible based on your beginning hair. I have super thick, black hair and so it definitely takes some time for the hair lightening process. Gregga takes her time and I'm usually in the chair a few good hours. It is always great catching up with her! I've done a hair cut (no color), vivid color hair cut, and balayage hair cut services. Each time, I am absolutely thrilled with the results (see pictures!). I haven't been to any of the other stylists but they all look amazing based on the IG feed! I love that each person has their own style and the vivid & creative colors are always something to admire on Instagram. Gregga and the team take COVID precautions seriously. Everyone wears a mask, and there is also an air purifier near the entrance. I've gone twice in 2021, and I've felt 100% safe both times. Last but not least, the salon space itself is super cute. Parking is so easy with a large shared lot. Also, the bright yellow walls and custom cut out mirrors give the whole place a super fun vibe. Chairs are comfortable and they have hooks for your purse. Definitely recommend coming to Gregga LA, and you would be supporting a woman-owned, Asian-owned (Filipina-owned!!), small business - how cool is that?! read more

Gregga L.A was very friendly, cool vibe, and great work. The salon is clean, she offered me some water, very easy to talk to and it was such a nice experience. The owner/hair stylist Gregga talked with me first. She asked what my hair vision was, and made sure we were on the same page. She made sure she knew exactly what I was looking for and did an AMAZING job. It was worth every penny because I got what I paid for. Great service, beautiful cut, and it was exactly the way I wanted it. I recommend making an appointment and coming to see Gregga L.A. next time for me I'll add some color. read more

Tried to schedule a service, and when I sent pictures of my son's 3C hair, my appointment was immediately canceled. There was no communication other than an auto-generated email. I called the number that I texted the pictures to, and there was no answer. I texted them, stating their unprofessionalism, and got no response until an hour later. I also called the number on the website and was prompted to leave a voicemail. They responded by saying they "sent resources," but I didn't receive anything. The whole situation was very frustrating, and I did feel discriminated against due to the type of hair they would be working on. read more

I always /always/ fall in love with my hair after a trip to Gregga's! Every time I want to shake things up with my hair, Gregga is my immediate go-to! She always manages to get the exact idea I want but make it so much better (and keep it nice and healthy too)! Last time I went I decided to bleach some money pieces and they turned out even better than I imagined. I'll always come here whenever I want to try something new out with my hair. We'll discuss what I had in mind and she'll always let me know how long the process will take and how much maintenance my hair will need to keep any hairstyle I'm thinking of! The salon also follows COVID protocol and requires masks to be worn at all times which makes me feel extremely safe and comfortable when coming to get my hair done. Just when you think it can't get any better, you can also show off your new hair look using their cute studio light mirror in the restroom! read more

She is so nice and always made sure that I was comfortable and checked in constantly, which I appreciated especially for a longer service. I was aiming for more subtle highlights and the final look was exactly what I had in mind!
