My mom just called me very upset about Holdaway Automotive. She lives in Orillia but I live in…read moreanother province [I'm leaving this review on her behalf]. She got her car looked at there and they said it needed a new catalytic converter which would cost about $730. She ended up going to another mechanic to get a second opinion and it turns out all she needed was a little bit of welding done and it would only cost her $150. She doesn't have a lot of money and me and my brothers all have to live far away for work so we can't be there to look out for dirtbags like thHoldaway Automotive should be ashamed of themselves for trying to take advantage of a poor widow. Companies like Holdaway Automotive are why the general public has a bad impression of mechanics as being sleezy. Edit: as a welder, myself, I find it very hard to believe that an auto shop wouldn't have a cheap little welding machine that anyone could get from Canadian tire.

Monday I talked to mechanic and it was arranged to replace to two front tires. When I returned a week later March 13 2026 to pick up my vehicle the shop denied any wrong doing; But March 21st, i was told by a Neighbor that my vehicle was placed on top of the 10 foot snow back in front of the store for maybe total of 2 days of March 9th 2026. I paid for the two new front tires and left to go shopping and then; I looked under the vehicle and the sway bar on the driver's rear side was broken off. I went back to Stop & Steer mechanic shop. The shop denied anything happened. They take joyrides in your vehicle if left there and or some mechanic employed with this shop is taking advantage of customers. Beware! One of their mechanics or all are playing games with a customer who entrusts them with your own vehicle. Lack of experts here! Sad taken advantage of since I am a senior and a woman!

I'm really disappointed with my recent experience. I came in for a tire change and only later…read morerealized the tires were installed incorrectly -- two different brands were placed on each side of the car instead of being matched front-to-back. When I returned, the staff acknowledged the mistake, which I appreciated. However, I was then told I would need to wait in line again to have it corrected. After already waiting about 2 hours the previous day, being asked to wait again because of an error on their end was very frustrating. While the team was polite, this situation could have been handled much better. When a mistake like this happens, customers shouldn't have to lose more time to fix it. I hope the management improves how they handle service errors in the future.

It took 11 minutes from when I pulled in, and left with snow tires on and summer wrapped in the back. Great customer service, great price, quality work, can't ask for better. Much better than getting to a dealer, leaving your car there for 1-3 hours and planning around not having a vehicle. Highly recommend!
