The other day, went out to water plants and saw siding laying on the ground, again, looked up saw it was from the dorms where he put up siding. As for his line of If anything is not done right, he'll come back out & fix it, he just couldn't live with himself, etc... what a line of crap. Because he won't come back to fix anything and has an excuse for everything, not his fault.

April 4th we experienced a hail storm. A couple of days later I noticed water running out from under our siding and it had not rained for more than 24 hours. We phoned Dave and he was unable to get to our office until after we closed. Due to the storm in the area he checked the roof and was at the office the next morning to tell us what he had found. We reported to our insurance company, he met the insurance adjuster, he scheduled for everything to be done and he worked around the criteria we needed worked around at our office and we not have a beautiful new roof. The company came in sealed off the area that they were going to work on within a few weeks. It seems like. It is now January of the next year and they have done nothing since. Their sign is on the side of the building, advertising that they are the ones that will be working on it. I wonder when that will happen?

Our finished walkout basement flooded and I had heard all of the insurance renovation nightmare…read morestories. I was not optimistic about the time frame for restoration or the process for putting our nightmare behind us. Van Dam was on the job the same day as the flood, brought in huge dehumidifiers and a zillion fans and had the entire basement demolishened and dry in no time. After working out a quote for the insurance company and us agreeing to the scope of the work, everything moved very fast. I was in construction for 20 years, and I know how a well-run job works. I've also found that it's rare! Van Dam, their employees, and their contractors were amazing to work with! Shane and Darrien, their carpenters, and general go to people, were very professional and did expert work. Rob, my project manager was always prompt to respond and to get things done. We had about 800 square feet of finished basement and from the time they started to its completion, it was only about a month. The renovation included replacing drywall, removing and replacing a subfloor, painting, baseboard, removal and reinstallation of bathroom fixtures and cabinets, carpet and plank flooring, They moved the furniture and put it all back when they were done. All in all, I am very thankful for the work Van Dam did for us and I would highly recommend them to all my family and friends.

The job was done well, the communication between their team is amazing, their estimate included all aspect of the job including clean up...i.e. stump removal and raking (there were no surprise fees at the end of the work), and their prices are very fair! When they were finished there was absolutely no evidence they had been there, except there were fewer trees! On the trees they only trimmed branches from, the cuts were safe for the preservation of the tree being trimmed. The crew were all considerate and helpful, a pleasure to have working in our yard! Also, the job was completed in a timely manner. Would use again if ever necessary and would recommend!

M n S has performed work at my house for several years, and I have found the owner Mike to be…read moreunprofessional, incompetent, argumentative, and totally lacking in accountability. Cocky would also be a perfect word. Whenever there were problems, such as when he ripped up my lawn AND my neighbor's lawn, plus my step stones and driveway with his snow plow multiple times, he acted as if it were no big deal and it took months to fix. He never did restore anything to its original condition. An M n S employee backed into my expensive aluminum fencing and again, he treated it nonchalantly and took five months to replace the damaged pieces. He was advised that the house was for sale and that time was of the essence because potential buyers would be touring the property, but he didn't care. Interesting that my sprinkler system coincidentally had about the same dollar amount as the damage in repairs that year. Both he and his drivers are careless with the property that they plow and I have watched his hourly lawn workers stand idle while watching their co-workers work; but Mike does nothing to correct the situation. While plowing last night, an M n S employee backed (slammed) into my friend's van even after he blew the horn while he was in a parking lot. The co-owner of the van, his wife, is both my employee and friend. After arriving at the scene of the accident, Mike said, "That's why we have flashing lights," and he is now blaming my friend for his employee's negligence...even though the M n S employee immediately accepted blame and admitted he didn't see him before Mike got on the scene. Mike has changed his employee's story. He has hung up on both me and the couple whose van he destroyed and refuses to provide the name of his insurance company. The wife depends on this van for work, the repairs are beyond its value and it is financially impossible for them to purchase a new vehicle. Before hanging up on me, Mike shouted that he didn't have time to deal with this...that he had clients to take care of. Click. His arrogance, business ignorance and lack of compassion are astounding. Ironically, it is my friend and employee who convinced me to keep M n S on the property every time I wanted to fire him after each incident. She is the one who had to deal with him because I refused, and she always wanted to give him another chance. I am both sadden and angered that she and her husband have been treated this way. If you use this company, be prepared to possibly have it cost you money for repairs to your property, medical expenses, and possibly litigation. The problem is that the owner has an attitude and doesn't care.
