Green's Café is a handy half-way point down St Giles, and for us theologians it has on more than one occasion proved a welcome shelter from pouring rain on the way back from the library. The counter is downstairs while all the seating is in the endearingly wonky upstairs area, which consists of two rooms at no particularly sane angle to one another, chunky wooden tables, and some rather groovy pictures on the walls by local artists.
The sandwiches are well-stuffed with good-quality, fresh ingredients, and the selection is quite broad. They also have a range of tempting muffins and cakes which are as yummy as they look, and their coffee is really very good, and served in generous mugs. Free WiFi is available, which is great for essays, and there's often some interesting conversation going on if you fancy eavesdropping a bit. Not that I'd ever do that, of course.
It's a shame there isn't a bit more space, but if you stake your claim early and keep buying that lovely coffee, you'll be fine. read more
