Oh my God! Actual Asian Food That tastes legit, Cooked by an Asian chef who owns the joint and it's…read morein Tijuana! Yay! I literally have no explanation why there aren't more awesome Asian places on this side. But thank God there is at least one. It's a literal hole in the wall and as cliché as it may sound it's one of those hidden gems. It's next-door to the Hyatt place; located in the Soriana supermarket building. Even then it's in a hard to see corner unless you know it's there. They really need your help to spread the word . It would be a pity if they are unsuccessful because nobody knows they are there. I've been to a number of quite highly rated so called Asian restaurants in this area and there is not an Asian face to see for miles. Definitely no Asians behind the counter or in the kitchen. The rice is not sushi rice or even jasmine rice, the teriyaki sauce doesn't taste like teriyaki, and the vegetables have been overcooked to death and then beaten to a bloody pulp for good measure. Every time I try one of those places I say a little prayer about the freshness of the fish before I dig in and take one for the team, and almost every time based on the taste of the food I don't even know if they've ever tasted real Asian before. Unfortunately that's especially true about Sushi. I always wonder what the deal is with those places. Did they work in a joint clearing the tables, washing the dishes, and one day they figured this is not too hard I'll go across the border and open my own place!? Who knows. Based on the reviews they seem successful enough. It's not their fault if they're from Chihuahua and they decided to open a Korean restaurant. These kind of weird business decisions are not unique to Mexico.I had the opposite experience in Beijing where a bunch of Chinese people had opened a Mexican restaurant. I had a bowl of Greek tragedy that they insisted was chips and salsa. I begged to differ; but I still ate it all because it literally cost an arm and a leg and I was outnumbered one a half billion to one. Shuyama; however, is it rare exception. I had the Singapore curry noodle with chicken breast. It was lightly flavored And the curry tasted like realcurry and it was not overpowering, the chicken breast was fresh and the portions were very very generous. The price was ridiculously low. I wish this guy the very best. You should absolutely try this place. You will be pleasantly surprised. This is not a fancy restaurant at all. It's tiny but it packs a punch. Right now I'm going to take my own advice and go back for lunch. I'll try something else besides the Singapore noodles.

The food I ordered was very flavorful which was the Tallarina with steak. I also ordered the…read morebulgogi but it was not the traditional marinade for bulgogi but it was still good. I guess it was wishful thinking finding this place in Tijuana but I know there are Koreans down here.
