Specialties
Please note: we only service most of the city of Santa Clara, the city of Campbell, and most of San Jose. The Yelp map shows much more than that due to the way the map is created - I'm sorry for any confusion!
GreenmanPS can care for any type of pet, including pet farm animals (kept for non-farm reasons), and have a special understanding of birds, including large parrots.
My husband and I are both certified by the Red Cross in "Pet First Aid and CPR" (which focuses on cats and dogs), as well as having hands-on experience with giving medical care to many types of animals. We are able to give insulin shots, sub-q fluids to dogs and cats, and oral medicines.
GreenmanPS is working on becoming a Green-certified company, do all we can to care for pets in an earth-friendly way. From using recycled poop bags, to driving a hybrid car, to buying recycled content paper products, we want our business to make as little impact on the planet, while making a big splash in terms of service and quality of care!
History
Established in 2007.
A lifetime of loving animals, friends and collegues who needed quality pet sitting from people who knew birds but also knew how to care for other animals, and a desire to be my own boss all prompted me (along with feedback & encouragement from a friend who started her own pet sitting business in NY) helped me take the big step of starting my own business.
Now I just wonder "what took me so long?" I love caring for pets, I love the loyal clients we've come to know, and I love knowing that I'm making a difference in the lives of the pets and the people we work for.
Greenman Pet Sitting will be reaching its fourth anniversary Thanksgiving 2011, and I have so much to be grateful for - and am looking forward to all that 2012 will bring. :)
Meet the Business Owner: Ailsa B.
I truly love being a business owner. Growing up I had dogs, cats, rats, and fish as pets, but have always had a love of all types of animals. Currently my life has an avian focus at home - I live with eight parrots (ranging from cockatiels, to conures, to poicephaluses, and a macaw). We also have four cats - a stray MamaCat and three of the four kittens she "gave" us before we could tame her enough to catch her and get her fixed.
I also volunteer with Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue as an admin and teacher. In my spare time, I love to read (historical fiction, fantasy, and young adult literature are my favourites), watch hockey (Go Sharks!), knit, and practice photography.
Along with my small zoo, I share my life with my husband, who also helps with the business, and two teenagers - and I love (almost) every minute of it. :)
