The lower yough trip is a great option for beginners who want a little thrill. The rapids aren't too intense and it helps with a guide in the raft. Wilderness voyageurs also offers other outdoor activity options like bike rentals and kayak rentals. Take advantage of their pub too. It is a great resource to the ohiopyle area.

Yes, you read that correctly, we surfed on a river in Pennsylvania. Ian's skills in surfing, SUP and teaching produce an experience you will never forget. We were on surf boards "catching a wave" and SUPs navigating the river and when we tired from that we let the river current and eddy take us on a relaxing ride. Ian had everything we needed from booties to helmets. He made all of us comfortable from the moment we met him and assured us we would be safe, we'd catch a wave and have fun doing so; he was right on. A few days later we signed up for the SUPing on the Allegheny River with Ian. Paddling around the Allegheny islands all the way to a large dam. Pretty darn thrilling. Ian's knowledge of the area made the trip educational as well, who knew there was so much to learn about the Allegheny Islands. The communication was great throughout. Our guide was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and on top of the responsibilities of the tour. This is a great activity to push yourself, but not in a way that you will regret it the next day. A great time had by all! The parking lot was huge and pretty empty, and it was a quick stroll to the broad observation decks that jut out over the river. There was a group of kayakers huddled together as they were preparing to navigate the whitewater torrents. The hamlet of Ohiopyle provides a welcome coffee break.
