My pups haven't gone there yet but the review is for the professionalism of the front desk. I…read moredropped in and they couldn't be nicer. They gave me a tour. Bayside was so clean and all of the dogs and cats were well taken care of. There was a play room which was recess for the dogs all running around. Their glass crates were air conditioned. If you pay a little extra, they get video monitoring and doggie door to play outside which includes a pool.

But when I got my dog back, he was extremely timid coming if the room until I called his name and he realized it was me. When he came running to me, I immediately noticed he was limping from his front right shoulder. I at first thought it wasn't anything, but the following day he continued to limp whether he was walking or running. I called back the facility immediately and asked if something had happened, or if they noticed anything and they said nothing happened. But they said my dog mentioned my dog would block the door when they would try and open it. They stated nothing happened but if that was the case he would not be limping. It just did not make sense they mentioned the door and my dog blocking it so now it seems like they shoved the door open or hit my dog with the door when they opened it. Now I have to take my dog to the vet to be seen and there has been no resolution or real explanation what happened to my dog.

If you're looking for a veterinarian, don't go to Island Animal Hospital unless you're a…read moremillionaire. If I didn't have an appointment, I would have thought they were closed. There were NO cars in the parking lot in the middle of a weekday. Very strange and should have been my first clue something is off for an office with two vets available and no visible patients. Another clue should have been the "payment responsibility" disclosure they required me to sign before they would even look at my pet. In more than 60 years of pet ownership, I have never had to sign something like that before treatment. I brought my cat in because she had not eaten or had a bowel movement in seven days. After an exam and X-rays, I was told everything was fine and that she was probably pooping somewhere in the house. EXCUSE ME??? As if I hadn't already thought of that and looked everywhere myself. This is a cat who has NEVER done that in the 13 years I've had her. So, I left with no answers, no explanation for why my cat hadn't eaten in a week, no explanation for why she hadn't pooped in a week, and a $250 charge on my credit card. Apparently, at Island Animal Hospital, "everything is fine" is considered a diagnosis. And don't even get me started on the condition of the office. With the fees they charge, one would think they could afford to update the place. It looks like very little has changed since Dr. Moore was there nearly 30 years ago. When your pet hasn't eaten or had a bowel movement for seven days, you expect answers. Instead, I got a guess, a credit card charge, and was sent on my way. No wonder they are still taking new patients when every other vet in town is not. Do yourself a favor and look for another vet.
