She was great with our toddler during both sessions (maternity photos were taken outside and a local barn property and newborn photos were taken at our home). I was looking for a professional photographer to do an outdoor portrait session with my family. We…read moreran into lots of photographers out there but many were basically all the same. Same shots, all boring pictures with no imagination (sit down, turn left, face front). Then through a friend we heard of Caren Morris. We found her website and loved her past work, it was exactly what we were looking for. Called and left a message on her voicemail and my call was returned in about an hour. Her prices were extremely reasonable and we discussed what I wanted was some modern family portraits that we could put up in our new house. We discussed the shoot for a bit and we booked. On the day of the shoot Caren was there waiting for us at the park we decided to meet at. As discussed she brought some cool props to aid in getting our creative juices flowing! Caren was super easy to work with and had some great ideas as to what would look great. She was able to keep the mood light and keep everyone engaged. After seeing the final products (just arrived in the mail today) they are awesome! Not only the pictures but the presentation of them to us were on a cute little flashdrive in one of the nicest packages. She is warm, easy to connect with and feel relaxed around. She has a very contagious laugh which I believe is a necessary asset in a photographer. She is great with kids and creative at keeping toddler's attentions. At a newborn session with my week old son, I wanted some bare bottomed pictures. As soon as his diaper came off he unloaded all over her. She didn't even bat an eye. Just chuckled, whipped out her own wipes and went right along with our session. She comes to each session with her own ideas but always asks us what our vision is. She is creative with her shots and editing but not so out there that it seems unrealistic. She captures moments that are unexpected. My little tot was not thrilled for one of our sessions. Older sister sat down next to him with a look on her face that could only be described as a preschooler eye roll at little brother's tantrum. Kari captured that moment and knew it would be a picture that would make us smile. She has sent us walking to our next shot location and stood behind to sneak photos of us walking and hand holding. Some of these informal pictures of our family are what we cherish the most. Kari actually cares deeply about her clients, which is why she has so many repeat clients who come back to her at their next phase of life. I also respect her as a photographer because she uses the talent she has to volunteer for some incredibly meaningful causes. I would recommend her without hesitation.

I know a lot of couples are opting to do a "first look" before the ceremony so that they don't have the squeeze the formal photos with the bride and groom in between the ceremony and reception, but my husband and I wanted to be traditional and decided that the first time he would see me on our wedding day was as I was walking down the aisle. It was beautiful and romantic and exactly what we wanted, but it also meant that we had to take ALL of the formal photos (i.e., bride and groom with bride's family, bride and groom with groom's family, bride and groom with wedding party, etc.) during the cocktail hour between ceremony and reception! RFBF was extremely accommodating and professional during the hour of madness; never once seeming like we were an inconvenience and always keeping the moody upbeat and joyful. They got along with everyone! And when I say everyone, I mean everyone! A pretty large wedding expense for me was videography (I wanted to capture the day!) so I booked a videographer that came with the three assistants and a ton of filming equipment. I was worried how the videography and photography vendors were going to interact, whether or not there was going to be a turf war over the "shot," but everything flowed smoothly. My only complaint would be that they make a big deal out of telling you free downloads on their website the next day and there's even a sticker on the photo card that they give you that says the same thing, free downloads. I went on their website the next day, scanned the event QR code and no free downloads. I'm not surprised that there was a charge because they are such good quality. Just stop telling people they will be free if they aren't. I even sent an email asking for an explanation but never received a reply.
