I have been wanting to try kava for years and finally it happened! I've read about the calming and…read morerelaxing effects of this tea and it sounded like something I would enjoy (& need) in my very busy life. When I entered, I was immediately greeted by the friendliest staff member. I asked a few questions and was given a lovely introduction to the tea and kava culture. Flavors were offered but I went for it straight. I was expecting a hot drink but this one was served very cold. If you've ever taken diatomaceous earth as a supplement, kava tastes exactly like that. I am so grateful the server cautioned me that my mouth might feel numb because I experienced that within minutes. Unfortunately I couldn't stay too long but I loved the chill atmosphere and welcoming vibes inside Green Turtle. It seemed like many regular patrons hang there. I definitely felt relaxed for a few hours after having kava. It was a very pleasant feeling. Whether this was true or a placebo effect, who knows! I will be happy to return next time I'm in the area.

Staff were more friendly and approachable than at any kratom bar I've ever been in - very quickly I felt like each staff member was a long lost friend. Very clean and well-maintained. Great seating out front for when you want some air. Cool Book and magazine collection to flip through. 10/10

I had heard of Odd…read moreBirds from a friend who lives in the area and wanted to check out their speakeasy, Charlotte 33. We made a reservation for a Thursday evening and had a wonderful time. Our mixologist was named Talon; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He started by asking us what we usually like to drink (spirits and flavor profiles). Once we gave him the information he needed, Talon proceeded to make us some amazing cocktails. I absolutely loved mine and could have drank them all night. I tried some of my friends' drinks and they were all excellent as well. We ordered several appetizers to share (guacamole, wings, empanadas, and mojo chicharrones), everything was very tasty. Talon came back over to ask us what options we'd like for our second round or drinks, so we all went with something different than the first order. Every cocktail he served us was really good and based on our individual tastes and preferences. I wish I lived in the area because I would go to Odd Birds regularly. The night we were there, they had a secret disco going on in the main dining area which sounded like a fun idea. I loved everything from the drinks, food, and interior decor. The Charlotte 33 Speakeasy area has a very pretty atmosphere as well.

I liked them, but I did not love them. There was just something missing. My side dish was the sweet plantains, and they were so very odd...black, hard, a little crunchy on some edges which I liked, topped with balsamic glaze and crumbly white (cotija?) cheese...a very odd combination. My friends had the shrimp tacos (they were okay), and the Arepa. The Arepa chicken was dry and lacked flavor and the cheese was hard. Nothing was terrible, but also nothing was anything we'd try again. The entrees were just too m "crafty." The service was great, and again, the decor and vibe were super fun. Plenty of parking as well.

I came to McCoy's Rum Room while traveling solo in Daytona beach for a weekend (and was staying at…read morethe Hilton). I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. I felt it was difficult (within walking distance from the Hilton) to find nicer bars where you could lounge, enjoy the ambiance, and also have a nicer selection of wine and spirits. So I'm glad I (literally) didn't have to walk anywhere to enjoy exactly that. This is what made my experience at McCoy's Rum Room great: - I love the decor. The plush couches. The finishes and thoughtful touches they added (like the lighting and curtains). The space comes together nicely, is airy and spacious, welcoming and posh. - I liked (not loved) the drink list. The wine selection for red was on point, bubbly was a little low class, but the cocktail list seemed fun and I enjoyed a Raspberry Collins - Which the bartender was happy to accommodate my additional asks (less sugar, extra lime) and in general, he was SO friendly, attentive and nice. - They have a short but GOOD bar food menu that included bigger items (like burgers) and a nice selection of light bites (I had the hummus plate, which was really nice, and also quite inexpensive ($8) and LARGE). Good thing I was drunk and hungry. I really enjoyed this bar. I recommend it and when I come back to Daytona and stay at the Hilton, I'll definitely be back! It is a bit on the messy side, but that's to be expected with a well-stuffed breakfast burrito. My only issue with the food was the breakfast potatoes--they were noticeably undercooked and still had a raw crunch to them. The coffee was fantastic and came out quickly, which was a nice surprise. The service was also impressive. Despite working behind a very small counter, the team moved efficiently and kept everything flowing smoothly. The one thing that gave me pause was how the coffee was served. It came out without lids, and while customers were leaning over to grab their food, they were talking directly above the uncovered cups. I'm sure no one intended anything by it, but from a guest's perspective it wasn't the best look and raised a small hygiene concern. A simple change, like placing the coffee on one side and food on the other would be a much better aesthetic. Overall, Luma delivers great food, excellent coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere. With a small tweak to the coffee service and a little more attention to the breakfast potatoes, this would easily be one of my favorite breakfast spots on Flagler Avenue.

I figured that they may be doing a Mother's Day Tea as most tea rooms do, but I had to message her on Facebook to ask as there was no information on it anywhere. She replied that she was and put us in for our reservation. The location is great- right across the a pier. There is parking outside, and after tea we walked around the park near it. While the tea seating was at noon, the doors did not open until about 12:15 as she got ready for us. Not a huge deal, but would have been good to know as it was hot outside. Once we got inside, the place is beautifully decorated. Teapots and teacups everywhere, lace and antique furniture, colorful and feminine decorations. She even had a photo station set up for Mother's Day and offered to take pictures! Since everyone was sat at the same time, the three tiers were already set up on the table, salads were set, and iced tea was poured. She came around to ask us our choice of soup (broccoli cheddar or greens and pork) and that came around as a second course with a mini quiche. Everything was great, dainty, and filling. On the three tiers was your usual afternoon tea varieties. Bottom tier were sandwiches. The cucumber sandwiches really surprised me as they were served topped with balsamic vinaigrette! I have been to a lottttt of tea rooms and had hundreds of cucumbers sandwiches and never seen that! It was amazing! The chicken salad sandwiches were on a store bought croissant and made with canned chicken (or that is what it seemed like) but they were still good! I believe she runs this tea room on her own and I understand that not everything can be home made. The scones made up for this- they were fresh, soft, and some of the best scones I have ever had. And again, I have had hundreds of scones! Unfortunately they were served with whipped cream on the side instead of a clotted cream or Devonshire cream, but they were so soft and fresh that they could go without cream on the side. The third tier was the sweets. Some macaroons, cookies, and mini cupcakes. Again, seemed store bought but the things that were homemade made up for it. The salad, soup, cucumber sandwiches, and scones were the highlights of the meal. She came around with pots of tea and poured those who wanted it, rather than taking orders. You could request types of tea to be made, though, so that was alright. It seemed like all the tea were types of celestial seasonsings tea which I love because I grew up on those. The Bengal Spice chai was made with milk which was lovely. This is the only tea room I have visited in Florida so far, but I would come back! I would love to come back for lunch or when it is not just 1 seated tea time. My family loved it, and as far as tea rooms go, she is doing a great job.
