He said he could pick our items up the very next afternoon. The pick-up time slot Trevor initially suggested was not going to work, but he was super accommodating and worked with me to find a time that suited our schedule. Following an estate sale last year (where our house got torn apart and we got ripped off) our house was left in shambles and full of "stuff" that we did not want. I called 1-800-GOT-JUNK last summer and their prices were absolutely ludicrous. So, I waited thinking m maybe we would have a garage sale, or that I could sell stuff on our neighbourhood app. Well, none of that happened. Life did. And then COVID-19 came along. The outlook for a big spring garage sale went out the door, but the house, after many months, still needed to be cleared out. So, I looked on YELP. I submitted a request asking for recommendations for Junk removal companies. Trevor, the owner of Big Junk, returned my message within 30 seconds. He was helpful, honest, very clear with pricing, super reasonable, and available immediately. I ended up scheduling his company for the following weekend, although he was available the next day. I wanted time to bag and box our belongings. In actuality, that was not necessary. This company takes care of EVERYTHING for one price. Trevor and one of his employees, Troy, arrived right on time (they called one day before as a reminder, and then right when they were leaving their office to let me know they were heading over), and we discussed their plan. They had a 26 ft truck, and huge strong plastic bags so they could do the bagging! Since their price was fixed, I kind of kicked myself in the butt for doing all of the prep work already, but it actually helped, because I was able to sort what I wanted to keep & what I wanted to get rid of. Just to give you an idea of the amount of stuff we had, - our entire living room floor was covered with boxes & old furniture. Then we had 3 bedrooms and a full basement of stuff - plus one half of a two car garage. There was no way that I could have gotten all of this material to the proper donation centers, and we couldn't continue working on our house renovation without clearing some of the detritus. This completely solved our problem. Big Junk took everything! Mattresses, an old 200 pound TV, clothing, furniture, appliances, books, tires, rims, construction supplies, and more. We did have to pay a fee for the mattresses & the TV. It was worth it! That TV HAS LITERALLY been a huge weight in my mind...and we have called electronic stores about recycling it; none of them would take it. Just getting rid of this huge TV from the second story of our house was worth the FULL price of the junk removal. It took about 2.5 hours for Trevor & Troy to remove all of the stuff from our house. They were great about asking questions the entire time, and not assuming that something should go on the truck. That was great. They were very detailed & wanted to make sure they took everything we wanted and nothing we didn't want. In the end, they even swept and cleaned any trash from the floors. Seriously! Trevor discussed with me his process after our materials leave the house. He organized many things as he loaded the truck, but he also takes the truck back to the office and sorts the materials so that he can effectively recycle, donate or dump. Metal and some electronics get recycled. Anything that can be donated to an organization like Goodwill or Salvation Army will go there, and the rest will go to a landfill. I felt so much better knowing that HE would take care of all of those details. In conclusion, if you have stuff around your house that you don't want, leave it to Big Junk to get rid of it for you. You will not be sorry. I recommend this company 110%. They were professional, perfectionistic, pleasant, prepared, prompt, physically fit, and proactive. We asked for an estimate on yelp the night before, got a response with a fixed price in less than a minute, it was cheaper than all the competitors, and got our questions answer after hours! All with a Google calendar invite with exact times :) For the actual pickup process, Trevor arrived within 30 minutes of the scheduled time, and texted to let us know he was running a little late. The removal process ran so smoothly we finished in less time than expected. My favorite part though was Trevor's passion for responsible waste disposal. He helped sort everything so that the right stuff went to the right place and everything recyclable got recycled. I was thinking of renting a truck and taking everything to the dump, but this is definitely a better option. Big Junk Co can use economy of scale to do it cheaper, better, and faster. Got an estimate, made an appointment, and Trevor arrived to pick up couches all in one day!! Trevor arrived and there were no couches, I was so upset because I couldn't even verify for myself nor the landlord.
