    place to launch your kayak

I booked a site for one night ($53, site #39), kind of expensive but nice to have a shower. Disappointed because this park is right in town, train noise, odd to have a golf course, lots of green grass -- but beware -- sprinklers go on 5 days a week at 10 AM, so if you pitched a tent (other than weekends), you have to move your tent every day or it gets wet. The main problem for me was the two very bright lights on the bathroom building that shown all night right on my site.

    Seriously? WHY?

After long day on the road, had booked this spot as a short one night stay. Arrived in somewhat late about an hour before sun down. First of all, very limited signage as to which way was where on the roads. I eventually found the marked spot and proceeded to back in. This was ridiculously tight spot for what they said would fit a 30 foot RV. Anyway, I had no option but to drive on the grass and slowly back in. Complicating matters was a huge tree on one side of the site that was leaning deeply into the road on one side and a huge boulder/rock on the other side. Seriously, WHY????? Anyway, after 5-10 minutes of easing in there, I realize (as others have pointed out) they put the hook ups on the wrong damn side of the campsite!! I confirmed later with my receipt this was considered a back in site for this size of RV. I can promise you, there is no way to back in without driving quite a ways onto the grass into another person's camp site to maneuver in there. And man it's treacherous given the trees and boulders on each side of the lot. So, anyway, to avoid going all night without my electrical hook up (end of June), I pulled back out, went back around and came back to pull in and park forward instead of backing in so I could access the electric. Swinging as wide as I could without hitting the boulder on the driver's side, I thought I was clear of the massive hanging trunk of a tree on the passenger side, but NO. As I pulled in, the trunk, scraped the top side of the RV which bent the awning and snapped off the cell booster mounted to the ladder. The awning was still usuable but eventually the fiberglass portion of the roof was starting to separate where the damage occurred. Clearly, given what other reviewers have said, they simply don't care about the people's property or safety in this park. I'm not sure if it's because it's owned by the state and thus a "state job" or what, but this was beyond negligent. At the very least, they should mark this site for tents or cut back the damn tree!! Not only is it a hazard for RV's, it will be a hazard in a severe lightning/wind storm one day and this lack of caring will not only destroy property but is likely to get somebody hurt. I really can't think of a positive thing to say about this place. Oh, and $53 for ONE NIGHT? I've stayed in many state parks for a quarter of the price (or less) with much better amenities and location that won't damage your vehicle due to negligence. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I'd rather stay in a Walmart parking lot. Safer and free without the headache!

Great campground!  Big sites. Friendly rangers. Right next to the river.  Great access point for boats. Tip:  You can leave tour car there for a small fee if you take a trip on the river. Good for RV'S and camping. Tip: make sure the Rangers turn off the sprinklers. Restrooms are clean.  Showers are free even if a little worn.  The frizbee gold was a surprise!

if you're dragging a trailer behind your RV, you might not fit here. We are 65 feet and there's only a couple of places to park and we got a group spot with no water, no electric, no sewer. Basically paid $20 for a parking lot spot. It was noisy from the train and we left as soon as we found out a Group was showing up and camping right next to our rig... bye bye... anyway, the park is nice for most camping, but not for our big rig. The staff was nice and friendly, but I wouldn't choose this for our situation.

Wasn't planning to stay here, got smoked out at Grand Junction West RV park and wanted to find clear sir. 90 mins west and here we are. Silver lining as they say. Very happy to be here! Great park, nice sites with plenty of space between neighbors, green grassy areas and big shade trees! What find. There are other RV parks near here but they do not compare. Skip all of those and if they have availability stay here! And an added bonus is boat launch and 9 hole golf course too!

Honestly wasn't mad at all -- it was one of the permanent RVs and it was very comfortable! I found the place relatively easily since my bnb host gave very detailed instructions. It comes with a parking spot and easy to follow instructions to get in as well. It had indoor plumbing, hot water, fully working kitchen accessories (including a small oven which I didn't use but was nice to have access to!) and a space heater in the bedroom. That heater was essential because it does get COLD at night if you don't use the central air system. The heater worked great though, my little room stayed a nice 73F although the rest of the place did get cold overnight. Of note - the walls are (obviously) THIN. It stormed/sleeted overnight and was windy so I could actually feel the place shaking. It was loud too but I always travel with ear plugs and those combined with an eye mask made it so I could easily fall asleep even though I did feel shaking from time to time with the wind. So come prepared! But otherwise I felt very safe/secure and comfortable. Would definitely stay again on a road trip :)

They do have a shared bathroom with running water, which keeps the place just civilized enough for moderately experienced car campers. -- at the same time, this place is really remote. The city lights are far far far away, and the desert sky is clear, so you can see so so many stars. And if you sit and stare at them you see more. The only place I have ever seen so many stars in my life is standing on the side of the road outside Marfa, TX. -- two decades ago this was one of the first camping trips of my life, and it remains a special place in my heart.

Now for the not so good- where to start :( The staff was never around when folks seemed to need them- I always saw people looking for someone who worked there. The women's bathroom was just unreal how gross it was. I truly think the only thing the staff did daily was empty the trash and refill toilet paper and one of the two paper towel dispensers. Never once cleaned or attempted to clean any of the three showers, sinks or toilet's. The little store they have closed nightly at 7, sometimes sooner. Which really wasn't convenient if you wanted a treat after dinner like an ice cream or adult beverage. You really have to plan ahead. We just went to town, but would have rather supported the camp ground and stayed there. Overall - this could be an AMAZING place. Just needs more staff, and a little more TLC- We would go back if we heard of improvements.

We hiked the East Rim Trail, which connects to the West Rim Trail, for a total of about 3.9 miles. I'd rate it as easy to moderate: mostly flat with a few sections of light climbing. The views throughout the hike are breathtaking, and when we went, it wasn't crowded at all. Keep in mind that the park is very hot with almost no shade, so bring plenty of water. If you're traveling with a dog, be mindful of the ground temperature to avoid burning their paw pads. The visitor center itself isn't pet-friendly, but the bathrooms are located outside and accessible. My only complaint is that the trail markers could be clearer--since some trails overlap, it can get confusing. Entry is $20 per vehicle, paid at the gate. We spent about 2.5 hours exploring, though you could easily stay longer if you want to sit, relax, and take in the scenery. Overall, this is a must-visit stop in Moab.

I came to see the 2,000 year old pictographs but, honestly, the scenery simply blew me away just as much. I'm sure some of it was due to a confluence of factors: the time of year when autumn yellow and reddish brown tree leaves echo the colors of the towering canyon walls. The late afternoon sun amplified the colors and I was truly overwhelmed. If you want a mashup of the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and a hefty dose of your favorite trees, this place is for you. The pictographs didn't disappoint, either. While somewhat faded, it was still an honor to see these magnificent images on the face of the canyon wall. Utah's reputation for treating Native American sites with respect is less than stellar. This site is no exception. Fortunately, preservationists repaired damage from bullet holes and other acts of vandalism. However, these images won't last forever. If you visit, respect the history and artistry. If I had known about all the hiking and camping opportunities in this area, I would have changed my itinerary. This is a special area.
