One of the larger inventories of handguns, rifles and shotguns in this area. Nice selection of magazines and laser sighting devices etc. I have visited them a half dozen times since August and always leave feeling as though I am valued s a customer. Rare that I hand out 5 stars. I suppose I could nitpick it down to four but in this case the Customer Service wins out. Your service is important to you I think you'd really enjoy the store.

A really excellent A/N/AF/M/CG [Army / Navy / Air Force / Marine / Coast Guard] "surplus" store -…read morewhich is to say that in addition to "experienced" gear they also keep an EXCELLENT selection of new [greenhorn?] items currently, recently or previously used by various armed forces / first responders and the elite proletarian guard [police types]... notably a good selection of Red Rock bags and a SUPER selection of Real Live Genuine Made In USA 550 Paracord for all your cording and tie things up, down, etc. needs... The helpers are quite nice, well informed, helpful and polite + hours are reasonable enough to accommodate the majority of schedules. Prices seem quite reasonable from what I saw - although I only went in for a single item [BDU desert weight pants - YAY! cargo pants from Mars] and these were less than paid for same / similar item at BOTH other surplus establishments OR online resources. They also have a genuine dog tag maker machine with a good selection of blanks, though if you have your heart set on a pair or three of these EXCELLENT identification items - call first to make sure an operator for this cool machine will be around. BONUS: this store is located in a REALLY cool [read: non-white] part of Pcola with some excellent dining options [YAY! Oscar's the Hot Cake King!!!] and several funky groovy thrift stores - where you can part with some of the moneys you saved at Brownsville... FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a fan of all things military & surplus and survival / camping / Zombie Apocalypse and generally find these types of stores cool Cool COOL; some being better than others and Brownsville being one of the better ones I've been through / found / visited. Zenjoy.

Above all else he has a "passion" for what he does, and that passion is passed on to his clients in his training. I believe he truly desires for every person to be as prepared and capable of taking care of themselves and their loved ones as they possibly can be. The range is VERY well kept. At first sight it may appear to be sparse and barren, it is in fact laden with amenities to rival any range in the greater Gulf Coast area. ...just don't wear white.... Alabama clay stains! His training training class prices are very competitive with other organizations, and scheduling is very flexible. All in all a solid place to take basic and advanced classes. I don't believe disappointment is an option.

Academy has the best athletic shoe selection, BUT the department's customer service is the pits. Rarely do they greet you or offer help and if you do ask for help it appears that you are bothering them. This past week I have been in the shoe department four times and I have never been approached by an employee. Actually that is not true yesterday while standing by an employee for a couple of minutes, as he shuffled and arranged boxes, he asked if I was finding the size I needed. When I told him no, he said "those are the sizes we have." This is great store, great merchandise, but management needs to sell the importance of customer service to their employees.
