I'm posting this review exactly 1 day shy of being 3 months out from my double eyelid surgery. I…read morecan sum my experience up in one statement - I wish I'd done it sooner! I'd debated double eyelid surgery my whole life but got really interested during COVID. I saw some tapes that claimed they could give permanent double eyelids by using for 6 months or more every night. They worked...until they didn't! When the double eyelids stopped showing up one morning, what I did realize was how looser/lower the skin had gotten from the repeated crease tracing and tapes. Not good at all when compounded with how fatty/thick my eyelids naturally are. I also realized how my eyelids were getting in the way. I was unconsciously raising my right eyebrow pretty much the entire day in order to see better as the eyelid was covering so much of my pupil (which is also to say that my eyelashes were basically invisible at that point). I was starting to develop a wrinkle on the right side of my forehead only from this. Given my family has been debating a trip to Korea for a while, I also thought about pushing off getting my eyelids done in Korea. But I didn't want to spend a good week or so of precious vacation time dealing with recovery. Plus, what if something DID go wrong, I wanted a local doctor I could easily follow up with! I booked a consultation with Dr. Chaboki as he had the best portfolio out of all local doctors. This area already has a limited pool so I wasn't too hopeful when I first searched, and was worried I might have to go to NY or CA to find a doctor familiar with Asian eye anatomy. I needn't have worried as Dr. Chaboki gave me the exact results I wanted. I merely wanted my lashline visible and a defined fold. I've heard some doctors push ptosis correction (even in cases where it might not be needed), and epicanthoplasty alongside double eyelid procedures but there was none of that here. After all, ptosis is a medical condition and a whole different procedure. I booked the surgery and took a 1.5 weeks off of work, even though I work from home, because I knew my eyes would be tired. The procedure was easy-peasy, not to minimize anything since it's still a surgical procedure, but it was so tolerable. I had no ill effects (compliance with aftercare instructions is of utmost importance!). I will say there was a big difference at the 6 week mark in terms of healing. A really natural look settled in by then. And now at 3 months there's an even bigger difference and I don't think anyone would be able to tell unless I disclosed it. Very happy with my results and Dr. Chaboki is clearly a master at his craft and he's SO specialized in facial work, it really immediately shows!

They have one laser - the Alma diode - and didn't seem to care that the Alma diode laser is not appropriate for black skin. Also, there is no Dermatologist just a "doctor down the hall" affiliated with this center. When I went for a test dose and it hurt like hell! A day later I had 2nd degree burns from the test dose!! During my first and only visit, I asked what I thought were simple questions: what kind of skin care would be appropriate and inappropriate to use before laser treatment, name of a numbing agent they could recommend. All I got were vague responses. They did not seem the least bit knowledgeable about laser treatment. This was very annoying to me and bells started to go off in my head. To make things worse, one staff even recommended that I do my own online search! Well I did and found out all too late that the only appropriate laser for black skin is the YAG. These people seemed to have no clue. Though I did chose to come to this location because it was close to my home, I will say that if you are a woman of color - you should think twice before coming here. There are other reputable medi spas that have far more experience working with black skin and the Alma diode is the WRONG laser for you! My other problem is that you should never expect that if you call the office during business hours that they will actually pick up the phone. I spent one saturday calling for 2 hours straight with no pick-up. The only good thing I can say is that the staff seemed friendly and the other customers that came in seemed satisfied. Update - I was surprised to discover today that Yelp has an interesting practice of filtering reviews with some long winded and convoluted reasoning to justify their practices (smh). Until today, I didn't know others had written poor reviews of this place for months! So if you don't see all the other negative reviews then scroll to the bottom of my review and click FILTERED and type in the captcha code. Update #2 I found a review on Google Reviews for this sham business by someone named Kelly Young and it just goes to show that this business tries very hard to inflate itself. Clearly this silly Kelly Young has not read the Yelp reviews. I seriously doubt this business is in good standing the BBB and as for Groupon continuing to promote their services, well that really reflects poorly on Groupon given all the complaints and requests for refunds. I included this update because if what Kelly Young says is true then apparently the "Doctor (?owner) is a surgeon with 2 private practices and privileges at the best hospitals in Maryland." This is scary indeed because if this is true then I think the State of MD licensing board would be interested to know that one of its licensees is negligent and harming patients. Since that review is on Google Reviews I have to assume it is true but it if anyone knows for sure that it is wrong information then send me and email...Just food for thought.

He is genuinely a good person, and that integrity carries over into the way he practices medicine. Everyone on his staff is incredibly helpful, kind, and professional. Trish is amazing, Amanda is wonderful, and I have always felt genuinely cared for whenever I'm there. One of the things I respect most about Dr. Bitar is that he will NOT upsell you. In fact, he has turned me down multiple times when I've asked whether I needed a procedure or additional filler. A less ethical injector or surgeon could have easily taken my money and said yes, but Dr. Bitar has told me no when he genuinely did not think something would benefit me. That kind of honesty is rare, and after knowing him since 2011, I can say it is completely consistent with his character. I originally came to him wanting a very specific type of nose, and instead of simply agreeing with me, he patiently explained why that nose would not necessarily work with my other facial features. He took the time to explain proportions, balance, and what would actually suit my face. I'm so glad I listened to him. Years later, I trusted him with my breast surgery as well, and I have been incredibly happy with the result. I feel so much more comfortable and confident in swimwear now. I've also had Botox and fillers done through the practice, and the work has consistently been precise and beautiful, with no complications. When it comes to injectables, knowing anatomy matters tremendously. Please do not choose someone simply because they are offering the cheapest price. This is your face and your body. Go to someone with the training, experience, precision, judgment, and integrity to know not only what to do, but when to tell you that you don't need anything at all. It's now gotten to the point where I trust his judgment every time I visit and, if he has a suggestion, I tell him to go for it. It's worth noting that this salon is incredibly LGBTQ+ friendly and I've noticed over multiple visits that the staff works tirelessly to make people feel welcome here. If that's something that's important to you, then this is a really good option. I will say the time and care does mean you're paying for quality, so if you're looking for a $10 haircut, maybe somewhere else is the move for you.

Her hair looked great, so I decided to give it a go and booked an appointment with the same person. I was skeptical that enough time had been allotted for my appointment, so I called to ask if I needed to come earlier or more time needed to be set aside, but they assured my my stylist was experienced and someone else could always dry my hair if needed (which was totally fine with me). The stylist and I had a conversation about what I wanted my hair to look like (really just a touch up, partial foil, not too cool) and then he got to work. They put me under the dryer while my hair processed, which no one had ever done before. I assume to speed things up? As predicted, my stylist ran out of time, so another stylist had to dry my hair. As she began drying the front pieces, I realized that my hair was not looking as I had hoped. It was WAY too cool-toned (platinum) for my skin tone, and there was a harsh line about a quarter in from my scalp. It was blended beautifully from side-to-side, with no stripiness whatsoever, but it looked like it had already grown out and I hadn't even left yet. The stylist who was drying my hair was extremely kind and understanding, and ended up putting a toner on it to help blend the roots. My hair ended up being darker than I would normally prefer (we swung from one end to the other!) but at least it didn't look terrible and would hopefully grow out okay. The manager was also very nice and understanding, and she (1) did not charge me for any of the extra services, (2) took a bit off my total, and (3) gave me several sample products. They did the best they could. I considered going back and seeing the stylist who attempted to fix my hair, as she would have really understood what I was looking for and seemed competent, but I was embarrassed to run into my original stylist again, particularly as he was the owner of the salon. I ended up going somewhere else just six weeks later (which is WAY sooner than I normally go--I'm a 3-4x a year person, but it had grown out pretty bad already), and was much happier with their results.
