Pick-ups are hit or miss. A call to customer service reported that "our driveway is too long" for à pickup. Oddly, the driveway size has not changed in the 11 years we have lived at our property, and donations have been picked up in the past. This is now a TERRIBLE company. Which is sad, because for years they were great to work with. I tried two times in a row to donate significant and valuable stuff in 5 boxes and a bag. Both times they failed to pick it up. the first time they blamed it on me because I have a building not a house (weird, as they have picked up stuff from me dozens of times). I dragged everything in and they re-scheduled for 2 weeks later. Today they canceled on me and re-scheduled me to two weeks from now, but I no longer trust that they will show up at all. I called Green Drop for a pickup at my place of work. It is a gated area with security access for truck deliveries and pick-ups. For some reason, out of all of the delivery trucks that come in and out of our gated area, Green Drop's truck is the only one that cannot make the turn into the area?? They also said the street was a busy street. I guess they only make pick ups on streets that are not busy?? They suggested that I leave the bags outside of the gate, on the curb. That's six times I hauled them to and from the entrance to the parking lot to make it easier for them. Nor did they alert me that they couldn't pick it up. Do not waste your time with Greendrop. There are plenty of other options. This "for profit" company is unacceptably unreliable. They have just lost our business and the business of all of our friends and family who use the this company upon my referal. I will find a more reliable company and refer them to the new company. Greendrop has too many no shows, an abundance of excuses when I call and inquire why they have not picked up, no notifications, no apologies and they take no responsibility. Today I spoke with someone at the general phone number, a supervisor at that same number an someone at corporate. No one there cares about their job or the company they work for it seems. We have donated a massive amount of items to this company. A lot of time and effort is put in to creating donations for Greendrop. Each box is organized with the same items, carefully packed, taped properly, stacked nicely, labled properly and covered in tarps to protect the donations for the rain and wind, for if the items are not in great condition why bother to make the donation? A lot of work and effort goes into my donations. My work and effort for Greendrop are not reciprocated. They have wasted my time once again. I have donated probably 500 boxes and have many more to go. Definitely severing ties with this company. read more

This is the second time that Green Drop has not shown up for a pickup. The first time they said the driver's truck broke down and rescheduled me for a week later. I instead took the items to Goodwill. I decided to try them one more time. This time nothing was picked up and a message was left on my phone that said the driver could not complete his route and rescheduled me to 8/3, another week later! They said they only come to my neighborhood once a week, even though it was their fault that they did not pick up the items. As I am a senior citizen, this time someone else placed everything in my driveway for me. I cannot carry it back in the house, nor can I leave it for another week in my driveway! Just found out about Green Drop and this service! So glad to find a place that can take more than just clothes and will put the items to good use, for a good reason. We did a drop off in Springfield, NJ and the woman was very pleasant registering us (it didn't allow me to do with a drop off earlier) and explained how the process worked. We left clothes, bedding, toys, applicances, so many things those big drop boxes do not take. This will def be my go to in the future. Even though the web was glitchy and there were not pick up dates in near future, this was 5 stars based on how easy/efficient/and nice the worker was. My father passed away last month. My family and I decided to donate his viable belongings to Greendrop to help those in need.  We painstakingly packed, wrapped and lifted sixty boxes of clothes, appliances, books, etc., and placed them on the curb of my father's condominium the eve of April 5 for a confirmed pickup on April 6. I have included a photo of my father's driveway. My sister received a call at 12pm on April 5 from GreenDrop saying they would not be coming and rescheduled for April 16.  This would not be acceptable. Here is the email my sister sent to GreenDrop: Upon the death of my father my family and I amassed 60 boxes and bags of clothing and household items.  I scheduled a pickup on April 5 and labeled all donations NFB.  My son in law put the donation on the curb of my father's condo. At noon on April 5 I received a call from you seeking to postpone to April 16 This was unacceptable for many reasons: 1. I am elderly and cannot bring the donation back into the house and my son-in-law is working out of state. 2.  I have the Salvation Army coming to take some furniture on the 13th.  They will not have access with the 60 boxes and bags in the house 3.  There are buyers coming in on the 14th 4.  It will cost the estate at least $600 to dispose of this. 5.  I will be fined by the condo board if these bags continue to sit at the curb During repeated calls yesterday I was told the pickup was not cancelled, and that you would be there by 7 PM You never showed We have no choice but to have GetJunk remove the items. Not only will the poor not receive these items but we will have to pay a large amount of money to have them disposed. I had to write an email asking why. I was told that their drivers are not allowed to enter any buildings. I live in an apartment building, but not an enclosed building. Spent hours meticulously preparing and moving 25+ boxes and bags of baby items from our basement, so that they were ready for a 7am pickup this morning. Called the day of to confirm pick up. Hours go by, no pick up or notification -- after I called to follow up, was told that the driver did not want to find parking and continued to another stop. The driver did not call even though a note was intentionally included on delivery instructions with our phone number in case of issues -- there was also ample parking on the street. We were waiting near the door all day. Customer service representative had zero solutions or recommendations and zero concern. We now have piles of items sitting in a small backyard with no one to take them for the foreseeable future. As someone who has donated several times via Green Drop before, we will never use this service again. read more

Terrible service. I had a pickup scheduled, and nobody came to get it. It was labeled clearly, placed somewhere neatly and easily visible. I didn't receive an email, text or call from them the day of, and when I woke up at 11:30pm ( I work overnight) all of the bags were still where I placed them. Very inconvenient, poor service, and poor communication. I've already sent an email to them, so hopefully they rectify this issue. Scheduled, marked bags not picked up in designated area. However, eight boxes delivered by post office, personally addressed to me were picked up. These boxes were "never found" according to the company. The company claimed to have searched 70 trucks because it was not known what truck was on what route that day. Hmm. Fortunately, my neighbor took a photo of my boxes. I wanted to handle this in the nicest way possible, without contacting agencies about mail theft, a federal offense, or the D.O.T. about truck routes. I scheduled a pick up a month in advance for 3 bags of gently used shoes, clothing, and bath towels. I placed the bags in front of my house as requested at 5:00 AM the day of pick-up. When I got home at 3:00 PM, I saw the bags were still there. I called and was hung up on three times, called a forth time and was asked when the items were placed outside. When I responded that they were out there since 5:00 AM, the rude person I spoke with said, "Well, there was a street closure." I asked why the driver didn't access my street from the other intersection (I live on a 1 block long street) she rudely replied, "All I know is that there was a closure. You can reschedule for 3 weeks from now". I asked if the driver could still stop by because I see no closures anywhere near my street now and she said no, there is no way. I scheduled a pick up a few weeks out and put everything outside labeled before 7 am. At 4:30 nothing had been picked up. I called the company to find out if it would still be picked up. They put me on hold for a while and then came back and said that their was an 'attempt' at 10 am and they could not pick up. They said there were no notes stating what the issue was. I was home and did not notice any attempts. I asked if they could come the next day, they said they would not be able to make it till next week. They said I could drop at one of their locations but the closest one is 40 minutes away. Received a phone call from Michele 48 hours before pick-up. Telling me drivers do not call and to leave items outside. This was my issue 3 weeks ago in leaving a message indicating that items cannot be left out because this is a business residential area. Green Drop is the BEST! A lifesaver! After our local Salvation Army closed, we had Green Drop pick up boxes of items for donation, which was easier anyway. They've come twice, on schedule, and picked up our boxes; then we download a receipt. Very polite and friendly. And now there's a trailer in Jersey City where we can drop off 7 days a week! They email you a receipt. Pro tip: we photograph donated items so we can accurately itemize for our tax deduction. They fail to pick up your donations on several occasions you carry donation and place them outside no guarantee they will be picked up.

I had some reservations about using this service because of the negative reviews but I am reporting that they did everything they said they would do. I had about 15 boxes of goods for donation. Originally I planned to leave them at the end of the driveway by the street but rain was threatening so I left them under a protected overhang by the front door. This pickup now required the boxes be carried a bit of a distance to the driveway. I notified them of the change. Voila, all the boxes were taken with no fuss. Very pleased. read more

I wish I'd read these reviews before scheduling a pickup with GreenDrop! Per the website, I scheduled the pick-up date several weeks out, received a reminder email, carefully packed and labeled my donation boxes, and responded to a confirmation call to clarify directions to my building and note that I would have my boxes placed outside of the front entrance before 7 am. Then, of course, the end of the 12 hour pickup window comes and goes with no pickup in sight, and when I call the service line I see that no one is available after 5 pm. I understand that GreenDrop's drivers don't call, but if your items are not going to be picked up for some reason it seems the least the organization could do is find a way to notify you that day, particularly when the boxes are sitting outside in inclement weather and you want them to remain in good condition for a future donation. I was excited to give these items to the American Red Cross, but it seems I will have to find another way to do this. What a disappointing experience. Highly recommend that others find an alternate organization if scheduling a donation pick-up. read more

I scheduled a pickup to be done today. It was three boxes of books, one home décor item, and a suitcase. I labeled all the donations and put them outside on my porch AT THE FREAKING CRACK OF DAWN SINCE IT WAS APPARENTLY EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO HAVE MY DONATIONS READY BY 6 AM. (Not that I'm bitter.) I felt so free and happy coming home - knowing that I had donated some good into the universe and (selfishly) my home was free of clutter. ...and then I saw it. All my donations - sitting exactly where I left them, hauling boxes in my dress clothes at six in the morning. "Huh," I thought. "That's weird. Maybe they are running late?" I got inside and called their number and someone picked up right away. I asked if they could check on the status of a pickup, and she knew right away who I was. I was secretly delighted - what customer service! Wow! They knew exactly who I was and they were about to explain exactly what happened. Then, she continued. "Yeah, we tried to call you. There was an issue with pickup." While she was on speaker, I checked my missed calls for today. Zero missed calls or voicemails from unknown numbers (other than my best friends, the robo callers who are insisting I owe the IRS money and the only way I will stay out of jail is if I send them $83 in iTunes gift cards). I asked if she could tell when he called, and she said "I don't know - he called you a lot of times." ...okay. So maybe my phone didn't register them? That's a possibility! I asked her why he was unable to pick up my donations. "There was a bee hive. A nest." I thought I might have misheard her, so I repeated her words. "Wait - bees? He saw a bee hive so he wouldn't pick up my donations?" "Yeah. He tried calling you." So...I've lived in this house for nine years. Children play in my front yard all the time. ...there are no bee hives in my front yard or on my porch. I asked if maybe he'd been mistaken - I was pretty familiar with my house (since, you know, I live here) - and there were no bee hives on my front porch. Then she started acting like she couldn't hear me. "I'm right here!" I answered - I'd been standing in the same spot the entire call (on the porch, looking at my stack of donations and swatting invisible, imaginary bees). "Ma'am? Ma'am? Hello? Hellooooooo-" and then she hung up on me. Yes, she'd perfected the art of the "hey, my phone is breaking up *pretends to make static noises* I have to call you *more pretend static noises*" and hung up on me. Well, she had my cell phone number. I'm sure she'd call right back. Nope. Okay, well, I could call her back. After all, she'd known exactly who I was by using my cell phone number. I was placed on hold... and then sent to voicemail. Weird. I called back a few more times, and every time, I was sent directly to voicemail. So, American Red Cross, I tried. I scheduled a pick-up with Green Drop. They told me that they take books and that the boxes had to be under 50lbs. I donated toys, games, household items and books. I arranged for the boxes to be moved out of the garage and easily accessible as the earliest pick- up was a day when we were not at home. To my surprise, I found out that the boxes of books ( which weighed less than 50lbs) were never picked up! The guy never even tried to move them. I was told they might rip even through they were within the weight limit and packed in new boxes!! read more
