A rare old-fashioned sweet shop, the Green Door has a fantastic window display with rows of jars full of treats from a bygone era. Such delicacies as coltsfoot rock and cinder toffee can be found here - sweets that you may have assumed had gone for good.
The building itself is hundreds of years old and it really does have a green door. Once you step inside it's incredibly quaint, with a counter display full of yet more edible delights and a small range of cards and toys displayed on the shelves that aren't filled with sweet jars. One other good thing about this shop is that they sell the wonderful Lakeland ice-cream.
The staff are always friendly and the tiny shop is always packed full when the nearby school lets its pupils out at break times. read more
