I've only managed to talk to Edward once in the website chat but have only received delay tactics. I'm in the process of taking this to small claims court. After reading horror stories about toddlers chewing on supposedly walnut wood during teething and the parents having to wipe the fake black-brown walnut paint off of their little one's face, I decided to dig deeper. There is so much bogus online marketing around "water based paint" and "green gold standards" all orchestrated by the disposable-furniture industry who are benefitting off the back of poor people in third-world countries. While you and I probably grew up in a crib with lead paint and we turned out "fine", we now know that there is a better way of making things, and that happens to be the old-school way of carpentry. The moment you walk into this store, you can smell the natural wood, unlike other furniture stores that look and smell like disneyland. Very cute store. I happened to be next door and dropped in here on a whim just to peruse. They had a very nice (albeit expensive) selection of organic baby goods: clothing, blankets, towels, toiletries, toys. One small criticism is that everything is NATURAL colored. I'm wondering if that's their whole gimmick? My advice is get some color in your store! There are so many wonderful natural products in lovely vibrant colors, especially for babies. read more

I have never left a bad review of anything, until now. The customer service is abhorrent. We ordered our crib and crib mattress on April 10. Their shipping policy says all furniture will ship out in 13-14 weeks. We did not receive our crib until October 5 - SIX MONTHS (25 WEEKS) LATER, and received the WORST customer service I have ever experienced throughout the process. My baby was already 1 month old by the time our crib arrived. As stated, their shipping policy says all furniture will ship out in 13-14 weeks. We inquired about our order periodically (every few weeks) after the 14 weeks had passed, and the owner, Edward, gave us delay tactic after delay tactic including "lumber shortages", "it's in the drying room", "the shipping agent encountered bad weather" without ever apologizing, or even acknowledging the ridiculous delay. He kept stating "it will be there in a few weeks", or "it was shipped and will be there next week", meanwhile the crib did not show up, and there was no communication from Edward or the freight company. By the time October came, he even stated that he would bump us up to "expedited shipping, and as a courtesy will cover the expedited shipping costs" - our crib was already 6 MONTHS LATE - how could this even remotely be considered "expedited"? Furthermore, the process of tracking the shipment is ridiculous, as you have to use the Shop app, which includes absolutely no information at all (no tracking number, no contact info etc.), so there is no way to track your order. The crib is beautiful, but the wait, stress, and anxiety of having our baby without her crib, even though we ordered it in plenty of time before her birth, was not worth it, and the obtuseness of the owner made the experience beyond aggravating. Unless you want to deal with unprofessional, rude, and bizarre customer service and wait literally 6 months for your order to arrive, stay away! read more

The horror! The horror! Terrible service. In addition to a bed that arrived completely compressed and cardboard uncomfortable, missing many inches in both width and length -- which was replaced a good 6 weeks later (meanwhile, the initial mattress was taken away with the first delivery, so that's what we were sleeping on) -- the owner lied about it 3 weeks later. I spoke to the manufacturer directly and they did not have the same "custom order" misdelivery story that he did (again, several weeks after the fact). And the exchange? I waited all day and they showed up nearing 9pm. Ouch. While they do have decent knowledge and a great selection of genuinely organic bedding and furniture, without fragrances etc. in the store that would negate clean bedding etc, I would still do business with PJ's or elsewhere instead. I had an issue later with the bed frame I bought from them and they would not honor the issue under warranty. They offered me a replacement at "cost," which really isn't good enough when you spend the money you do at a place like this. I was initially told that after a year, I would talk to the manufacturer directly (yes please!), but then was told the manufacturer never speaks to customers. Hmm. SOLID CRIBS!!! We are on baby two now and while our first child didn't sleep in the crib much our second child does and my husband and I have spent many nights sharing the toddler bed option adjacent to our bed. Let me tell you I took my research seriously and this company takes their product seriously. The owner himself called me to answer any questions I had and when he wasn't sure how his product compared to one in question he did his own research and got back to me in full detail as to why their product is superior. The construction is solid and meant to last a lifetime I think. We have had it for four years now and it still doesn't shake despite many nights in it with an adult and jumping during the day. The mattress is so comfortable we want to get one for ourselves. Even though it'll be really expensive we feel it will be worth the money. I highly endorse this product all the way for NYC! My first impression of Green Cradle is it is a beautiful store. It has a designer look. I really like the owner, Edward he came a across highly intelligent and well informed on organic products. He really seems to know what he is talking about and does not make you feel rushed. I love the organic selection. They have the best natural beeswax candles that are beautifully carved. I bought several of these as a gift. I received as a gift some baby clothing from their store. The clothes were so soft and comfortable it was unbelievable. You must try the clothing. I need to visit soon to see if I can get a shirt in my size. The bags that merchandise comes in make nice gift bags. This is a well thought out store. Sure organic cost a little more. My husband and I have been looking to replace our memory foam mattress for some time now. We went to a few stores that carry natural and organic mattresses but were very disappointed with these stores as they didn't really know what makes a truly organic mattress. Finally we made trip from Culver City to Green Cradle a couple of weeks ago and were so impressed with this store. They have it all...organic mattresses, organic pillows, organic comforters and organic bedding. All the raw components and materials are U.S. sourced, are certified organic and are manufactured in a certified organic facility in California. The sales person that helped us (Bruce) was well versed on all the organic mattresses in the industry and even helped us compare & contrast on how Green Cradle's organic mattresses were different from other organic mattresses that we were considering. He was very patient in answering all our questions and selecting the right mattress for us and our 4 year old son. We purchased an organic queen mattress for us and a full size mattress for our 4 year son. We received it last week and we love it. It's been a year since my review of my first purchase and I still ABSOLUTELY LOVE my mattresses from Green Cradle! So much so that when my dad came to live with us, I didn't even look anywhere else for his bed. I knew this was the one and only place to buy the best sleep experience. Not only did Edward help us pick out the perfect mattress for my dad, we also bought an adjustable bed from him as well. My dad was recovering from abdominal surgery so the adjustable feature was really helpful. Also, the bed we purchased moves in such a way that it "hugs" the wall which was another plus since the bedroom is not massive and it also came with an under bed light which seemed superfluous initially, but has turned out to be one of my dad's favorite features! What an awesome store. I have been looking online and also visited almost all the baby stores in Los Angeles but Green Cradle definitely stood out of the bunch. I was shocked to learn that most furniture today is manufactured in Asia from plywood and MDF and finished with chemical lacquers and stains. I was also not aware that almost all the mattresses are chemically treated with flame retardants and that they are known carcinogen and allergens. After reading Green Cradle's brochure, I was again shocked to learn that "According to the EPA, most of our exposure to toxic chemicals occurs inside of our very own home, with everyday furnishing releasing pollutants more or less continuously around us. In fact, the EPA warns that home furnishings pose a more serious risk to human health than even tobacco Smoke!" I couldn't believe what I was reading. No wonder our children have so many health issues these days. I spent about an hour talking to Edward who really educated me on what to look for when purchasing a crib & nursery furniture, organic mattress, bedding and body care products. This guy is a wealth of information and it was all free. I must have asked at least 20 questions and he was very helpful in answering all of them. I didn't feel pressured to purchase any of Green Cradle's products which I really appreciate as I really hate pushy sales people. After discussing my husband we returned the following weekend and purchase the Forest Green crib and changing tower and Green Cradle's organic mattress. The craftsmanship of their furniture is exquisite and we selected the dark walnut for our nursery furniture. So happy with Green Cradle! My husband and I had our first child in 2014 and wanted a non VOC highly safe 100% natural solid wood crib and solid wood dresser for her bedroom. We searched the web extensively, but we were not sure of the highest quality option until we found The Green Cradle in LA and Edward as the owner. We visited the store on Ventura Blvd and were immediately impressed with their selection and high knowledge of all the available organic, non VOC, solid natural wood options, both for furniture but all home needs. In addition, the prices at the Green Cradle were fair and even better than many sites on the internet, and we felt more comfortable with a real store and real customer services for our purchase. Ultimately, we chose the Sea Green crib and six drawer dresser in walnut from the Green Cradle (looks amazing BTW) and despite the 12 week lead time (it was custom built and stained with organic oil) it was hand delivered and looked awesome!!! Edward guided us through the timing and delivery so there were no surprises (we didn't pay extra for expedited delivery which is available). In fact, we were so happy with the Green Cradle that when we were expecting our second child in 2016 we ordered the exact same furniture set (Sea Green Crib and Six Drawer Dresser in walnut)...but with a bit more lead time! We now find ourselves in 2019 and our first born is bigger and again we sought out Edward's advice from the Green Cradle and decided on a full size crib conversion set in walnut that uses part of our existing crib to make a full bed. Plus we ordered an organic mattress so again felt very good about our daughter's bed set up. If you're looking for 100% organic, GOTS & GOLS certified, solid wood bedroom items, and a very fair price I highly recommend you visit Green Cradle. I have been very happy with the service that Green Cradle has provided and the products they offer! I found this store online after doing an extensive search for all wood, non toxic finished cradles. I've found that these are pretty hard to find (the real deal, that is). After months of searching, I kept coming back to this site. They go into great detail about the materials they use and don't use, which made me confident that this purchase was in line with my strong feelings about creating a truly non toxic nursery (they use NO plywood, particle board, MDF, veneers, engineered woods or other composite wood products that can off gas terrible chemicals into the air for months/years). They also use linseed oil as a finish, which is the most non toxic finish as far as I can tell. They have a nice selection of wood options and cradle designs too. Buying online can be tough, and this is a big purchase. Edward at Greencradle was very responsive to my calls and emails, sending me requested photos, answering all of my questions etc. Customer service is very important to me, and this was a 5 star experience. I don't think I could have ordered such a big purchase online without all of his help. In the end, I decided to order the footprint cradle and dresser in red oak (so pretty!), and can't WAIT for it to come in! I received my furniture just as ordered from Green Cradle, including the customized details. I'm absolutely delighted with the superb craftsmanship of the furniture. The furniture pieces are very light, but solid wood (not particle board pieces nor veneered parts). Best of all, it is all natural, organic, VOC free, and made in the U.S.A. My furniture did take the full 8 weeks to make, then an additional 10-14 days for shipping and delivery. I was impatient and had bothered Edward and his staff via phone calls and emails to check the status of my order. Both Edward and Bruce were very courteous and reassured me that the production was still in order and going along nicely. Edward responded to all my emails/phone calls and was able to answer my questions. I'm in love with my furniture and I'm glad I was referred here. Gorgeous solid furniture - P.S. do yourself a favor and upgrade to the choice of wood that you love. I'm so glad I decided to do so because it is worth every penny. We bought an organic crib mattress here as well as an organic puddle pad and cotton mattress pad, in addition to baby sunscreens, lotions, clothing, etc. over the past year. The owners seem to be very knowledgeable about green issues, and have a great selection of baby products and furniture. We'd planned on outfitting ourselves with a bed and mattress after we'd taken care of our baby. However, what merits the low rating is the return policy and customer service. When we went to buy the crib mattress, they were very convincing that we should get their proprietary mattress and strongly recommended getting both a cotton mattress pad and wool puddle pad. We purchased the wool puddle pad ($119) because we wanted to see if the sheets we got would fit with the extra padding. When went back a few days later to get the mattress pad, which one of the owners had strongly recommended, the guy sitting at the counter was onh is cell phone. I asked him where to find the mattress pads. He seemed to be annoyed that I needed help. I asked if there was one that was recommended and he said "they are all the same." Since I had previously trusted the customer service, despite this guy's rudeness, I bought one - it was in a sealed package, and within a cloth bag, so I couldn't see it ). Well, when I got home, I was surprised to see that the $80 mattress pad was a quilted pad with no fitted corners - so, really difficult to put on, and also, very plush. Still, since it had been strongly recommended by people who seemed trustworthy, I washed it and put it on the mattress - but indeed it was way too plush and soft for a baby's crib - like sleeping on a blanket ,and because it was not fitted, tended to bunch up, further increasing the suffocation risk. In addition, the stitching was poorly done and was coming out on one corner. It turns out that this pad was the store's proprietary pad, not some pad from a brand I could contact, and that there were two other kinds of pads (both with fitted corners) that were available at the store. This pad might be useful for someone whose baby does not ever turn on its stomach, and/or has a toddler. However, when I looked at the fine print on the receipt, it said that the store would not accept returns! What kind of retail establishment sells proprietary products that, even though they are faultily made or may increase your baby's risk for SIDS, refuses to take returns? I contacted customer service explaining the issue and asking if I could exchange the quilted pad for a fitted pad, but I never heard anything. I also noticed that the mattress that we purchased had a depression in the middle of it, as though it had been used. I regret purchasing their proprietary products and wish that we had gone with a more recognized brand. read more

I purposely waited to write this because had I written it when i was dealing with them it would have been a rant. It's been a few weeks now so i think I'm in the clear. If you read nothing else, please read what I wrote about the registry as it is important info. Edward, the guy who is usually there and I assume is the owner is quite a bit standoffish. My wife and I found him extremely arrogant on each occasion we had to deal with him. He badmouthed a competing store, and badly criticized the all natural brand of bed we have. The other people we dealt with were largely incompetent. They didn't seem to be able to do much with Edward. Their registry is incredibly disorganized. You cannot buy anything online, which sucks. And when you log in you can see every else's registry, which is a weird privacy thing for me. You can see what everyone else with a registry there registered for. A friend bought us something from our registry and we were not notified. We stopped into the store to pick up an overpriced co-sleeper that we'd ordered and the guy behind the desk (who seemed very unsure of himself) said that someone had purchased something for us. But he wasn't sure what and couldn't tell us who bought it. He called the owner and figured it out, but my wife and I were obviously put off that they hadn't notified us. Had we not walked in and asked, i do not think we'd have gotten our gift. And when we checked their website when we got home, it had not been updated to show that this was purchased for us. Also, took us 4 attempts to take our registry down. First we emailed...nothing. Then we called and asked the guy to take it down, and he said he had to do it at home, not from the store. OK. A few days later it was still up so we called again and the woman said she couldn't take it down. Finally my wife went in and told them to please remove our registry....they eventually did. Their products are natural, though quite a bit overpriced. One could find these same exact items for far less elsewhere. And when buying elsewhere you'll probably get much better service. read more

My friend who is very aware of how to live green likes this place. I love and trust her so I checked it out, looking for a new mattress. I walked in and really liked the selection of beds, as well as bedding and organic body care products. What I didn't like was not being greeted by the guy behind the counter, who was too busy texting to acknowledge me. As I was walking around, he didn't ask if I needed anything. I did - I needed a bed. When I finally asked him what the price of one of the beds, he finally got up and did so. Then he went back to his texting and really didnt seem like he wanted to be bothered. Here I was ready to buy a really nice albeit ridiculously expensive bed and the guy couldn't care less. I left, figuring no way it was the right place my friend told me about. As I drove around the corner and passed the shop again, Mr Textman was now outside, again on the phone and this time, smoking. Such green living i tell you. Gross. Anyhow, I told my friend this and she said no way was that the owner. she suggested I try again and call to check if the owner, Edward, would be there. I did and he was, yay. I went there and the owner was there helping other customers. The odd thing was his tactic was to tear down any other green manufacturer this couple had questions about. Hs prices were waaaay above what I was seeing elsewhere. Anyhow,I felt uncomfortable after listening to him talk to this couple for a few minutes and left again. This time I won't be back. If you need a bed and you want an Organic OMI one, check out PJs or living green. PJs has incredible service and better prices. This place needs to clean up their act, or drop it all together in favor of a more honest approach. Also, it's eerily quiet in there. Put on some music or something, for real. read more

After doing MANY hours of research, this was the only company that was 100% non-toxic material. Also the only company that offered more than two styles, and we could mix and match different styles (got one style of crib, different style of changing table). I would recommend that if you want the crib prior to birth, order at least three months prior to your due date. We ended up moving close to when the crib was due to be delivered. Greencradle was very accommodating in changing our shipping address even though the shipment had already been processed at no additional charge. Over the course of past 4+ months we have purchased and had delivered to our home: full and queen latex 10' Chestnut mattresses with the 8" foundations, 1 Fern Green Queen bed in Hard Maple with Linseed Oil finish, which Edward tailored for us by rounding the headboard (super grateful for that), 1 baby Footprint 6 inch Crib Latex Mattress, Mattress Wood Moisture pad Full Size, Cotton Protective Mattress Pad Full size, Baby Moses Bassinet mattress, and a few more things... First of all, we were looking for the firmest and organic mattress on the market and were able to find it only at Green Cradle. We have visited many stores and tried many options. However, either mattresses were not organic or they were not firm enough or they had springs inside, which we wanted to avoid because they conduct Electro Magnetic Field (EMF). We have been now sleeping on our Chestnut mattresses from Green Cradle over several months and are super happy with the sound sleep they provide by cradling hip and shoulder pressure points while being firm for the back - just super. No weird smells or off-gassing time needed. The mattresses were great to use right out of the boxes. Our 12-year old loves it too. The Fern Green bed is spectacular - it is of the highest quality, smells like fresh wood and linseed oil right out of the box. Again no weird smells or off gassing time was needed. The linseed oil smell is wearing off, and the only smell remains is off fresh wood. It is really great. We would have purchased the full size bed and the crib just like Fern Green bed in addition to queen, but, unfortunately, I had the misfortune of ordering Romina's full size and baby crib before finding Green Cradle. The store in Minneapolis would not let me return those two Romina items, despite the fact that the crib came in with a metal mattress support, which we specifically said we had to avoid because a) it conducts EMF and b) it makes any crib mattress cave in, which is a danger for newborns. Buyers be aware of Romina furniture - their cloth panels smell months after being set up in the bedroom and having open windows day and night, and they are not 0% VOC like the beds in Green Cradle. No such problems with the bed we bought from Edward. We tailored the Fern Green bed by going from rectangular headboard to a rounded headboard. Edward shared the renderings and specifications of the changes we requested, and the bed came out wonderful. Picture of the bed is attached with the queen Chestnut mattress on it (if yelp has the picture function). The bed came in perfect condition from California all the way to Minneapolis. It was very well packed, so there was not a scratch and not a dent anywhere - just a perfect new bed. Other items were of superior quality as well. Edward turned out to be very knowledgeable about the products on the current market for both baby and adults. If I knew of Green Cradle earlier, I would have saved a lot of time and money. read more

I'm so happy to update that we got our crib, matching dresser, moses basket, and crib mattress! We LOVE all our items =) Because we had some questions about the crib, Bruce came to our house to assist us. He did a fantastic job putting the crib together and making sure that we were happy with the product before he left. We had a lot of fun while he was here, felt like we had known him for ages. I went to the Green Cradle for an event last weekend, and was curious to see what they'd sell. I'm an eco-friendly, organic parent and although most baby boutiques feature some organic, green products, I thought this place would have it all. They don't. One massive lack that they have is in the cloth diapering department - they have one fitted Under The Nile diaper, which isn't a product I'd ever use. Most of their baby clothing and bedding is at the highest end of the price range, ditto for their furniture and other products. I found that the organic sunscreens and other toiletries can be purchased elsewhere for much less.. Meh. It was a beautiful store, but I probably wouldn't make many purchases there. Besides, it seems to be mostly focused on expensive organic mattresses which is something I'm not into. read more

They have occasional sales, making their prices among the lowest compared to other mattress retailers. I love that they have organic product selections. My wife and I just returned from the store and I'm very pleased with our interaction there. We just bought a beautiful crib, a six inch mattress and are very excited about the whole deal. The owner was extremely helpful and offered to even stay after closing hours should we need to go that long, although we didn't. I'm really impressed by this company. I have been looking at and will be purchasing a crib and they have all natural products and the craftsman ship is bar none. Their customer service is really fantastic. I have spoken with someone on the phone and asked additional questions via email where I have received quick and clear responses. The website has some downfalls but the staff is open to feedback and I understand the company is in the process of improving/fixing the problems. Yes the products are more than the standard cribs but if you want all natural and have it mean it then it's worth the extra cost. We shopped around for a while looking for a quality crib, but never found anything that was worth the investment, that was until we came to Green Cradle. The solid wood cribs they have are top notch & American made. Honestly, the organic factor was really just a bonus for us. We wanted a convertible crib that wasn't going to fall apart as the years went on. Edward, the owner was extremely kind, informative and not pushy at all. It also feels good to support a family business that choses to make their products in the USA.
