Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in all of London. It may be small and unassuming from the outside, but the people are all heart, the food is super-healthy and amazing - regardless of what you order - and the coffee never disappoints. It's also more spacious than it looks. There are a few tables on their small patio overlooking the street, but they also have plenty of extra seating inside and down the stairs.
Next to their friendly local vibe, one of my favorite things about this place is that, no matter how many times I go there, I never come away disappointed. And, believe me, I go there so much that I actually made 'Customer of the Month.' Should you ever be graced with such a high honor, you will not only have a focaccia sandwich named after you, but you'll get to invent it, too. Not to mention the brownie points you'll enjoy for being featured on their Instagram page. It will be a specialty item on their board for the month that you are chosen. And, don't worry, it isn't as intimidating as it sounds. I went with a simple mix of Brie, sliced pear, arugula, walnuts, and a honey mustard spread with just a drizzle of olive oil. The cooks are so good at what they do, that whatever you choose, they will turn it into gold.
The rest of their menu is full of healthy and creative items that will leave you feeling satisfied and energized for the rest of the afternoon; they range from veggie bowls with hearty ingredients like beetroot falafel and sweet potato, to quinoa and sliced root veggies. Their perfectly-toasted focaccia sandwiches will probably always be the star of the show, with their seasonal ingredients and Italian flair, you can never go wrong with one of these beauties. Smoothies and fresh juices are also available throughout the day, also utilizing the power of fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies, with a dash of deliciously-creative combinations that will make it feel more like a special treat than a healthy choice. If healthy isn't your thing, great news! They have some of the most decadent (actually healthy) pastries around; made in-house, if you can believe it. And, the coffee cannot be beat! They have their own unique blend of organic beans that actually taste like the notes in the description: Salted caramel, hazelnut, and chocolate, with a smooth finish I've never tasted anywhere else. Add some Oatly to that sucker and you've got a mix made in java heaven.
The cherry on top of this delightful sundae is how eco-friendly and responsible these guys are. Most of their take-away containers are biodegradable, and given the local nature of the ingredients they use, their carbon footprint is as small as they come. So, you can indulge to your heart's content with a clear conscience. And, don't worry. You won't break the bank when you dine here. Their prices are hella affordable, too.
I know! What don't these guys do? read more
