This is a wonderful coffee shop in Marseille. The owner spent some time in Seattle and it definitely shows. It's an old apartment, with parquet flooring, some mid century furnishings and beautiful plasterwork and windows in the main dining room. Everything is relaxed and they don't mind if you take your time here. There is free Wifi and there are a lot of gluten free and vegetarian/vegan choices. Everything is prepared ahead of time, so it's mainly salads and sandwiches, though I've been impressed with some of their desserts. Gluten-free isn't very popular in France and this place has been a godsend. They also have plenty of outdoor seating, though I prefer the quiet beauty of the interior.
Favorite items so far are the vegetarian noodles in a Thai peanut sauce and the carrot cake. I will be honest though, while the pastries are impressive if you can't have gluten, if you're not gluten free then you may be disappointed that the baked goods aren't exactly like the normal wheat flour cakes. I come here because it's gluten free, vegan, has a great ambiance, free wifi and music that I can handle listening to for hours - mainly "indie" from about five years ago - Iron & Wine, Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens, etc.
I prefer this location to the other one because this one is open later and has a lot more room, as well as a better ambiance. The other location is more of a typically restaurant, while this is a converted apartment. read more
