Phillip from Ladera Design was our third bid. He showed up on time and listened to what we had envisioned for our pool. His bid was well within budget. I can't stress this enough...Phillip really does listen. I told him that I wanted something low maintenance and could withstand the extreme Texas heat. Also, I wanted plants that wouldn't drop leaves throughout the pool adding to a big mess. He picked several Iris and Plumbago Plants to surround my pool. He also installed two very large Texas Sabal palms, three large mediterranean fan palms, and a 7 foot windmill palm. Added several Mountain Laurels along the perimeter. He built the beds surrounding the pool up with additional soil. Added an automatic drip system, LED lighting, weed barrier, and river rock. I can honestly say that Phillip is more than just a Landscaper...this man is an artist! He transformed a boring pool area into our very own resort! I wanted something low maintenance and he listened. Irrigation system on a Hunter automated digital timer. LED lighting tied into the pools remote control. All of this well within budget. He is very easy to work with and cleans meticulously after every work day. Several months later and the landscaping is thriving! A few weeks later the wifey and I decided to use Phillip for our newly built flower beds and sprinkler system. Ladera design installed several plants with river rock, weed barrier, and a surrounding drip irrigation system. Phillip then installed a front and back sprinkler system. Up till now I have lived with dead grass in the summer months for 12 years....I now have green grass thanks to Phillip! When I had questions about the sprinkler system Phillip walked me through every step and took the time out of his day to make sure I was satisfied. Top of the line Hunter pro-series sprinkler heads and equipment. Breakaway easy fix sprinkler bases in case one gets driven on. Initially, I was apprehensive about picking a landscaper. Phillip made the whole process easy. He knows his plants. I had several last minute changes and Phillip took care of every one. Sooo...If you just want to walk out and enjoy a beautifully landscaped home then Phillip is your guy! If you have no idea how you can transform your yard into your own private resort give Phillip a call. His expertise is second to none. After talking to a few pest companies, not only did they get the species of ants wrong (acrobat vs carpenter) which affects the bait being used, but they also can't get their story straight. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service.

Mind you, Juan drove all the way from Seguin out to Brauning Lake, after working all day at another job to take care of this because I was afraid they were going to die if they weren't rescued soon. After getting the trees I explained to Juan that I wanted to deck the area where the original tree was being removed. (The other tree removal was a bonus for me.) His friend stated that he does that work. He gave me a quote to do the deck, & we quickly got to work talking about what was needed, as I want to purchase the materials. (Control freak, maybe ) So, I'm now going to have my deck done as well. To say this was a good experience is an understatement for sure. I discovered that he was lying about cutting different properties and was always filled with hundreds of excuses. Meanwhile, he then tells me he got a big mowing job at the VA. Well, I am happy for him, but you don't just kick your good customers that pay within an hour of the property being completed to the curb. His communication skills are totally absent, and you constantly have to run after him. When he starts making excuses, you need to cut him loose. There are many lawn care people out there that are dying for the jobs and the work. Find one of them and give them your business. Dwayne doesn't care. This is a photo of yesterday 6/18/26 in Monticello, a historical district in San Antonio. This is the current condition of how he has just walked away with no communication and the condition he has left my property in. The backyard looks the same. Since I trusted him, I agreed with it. I have to admit when the was finished was the icing on the cake. It made it perfect. So well worth it. The weather hampered work, which is common for the spring. It was a big job because of the amount of dirt that had to be brought in. When they came out and got to it, they got it done. It was a lot of work. It looks fantastic. He provided me with an exact watering schedule and has been very responsive if I had any questions. Absolutely amazing all around!!!…read more Backstory: From the freeze that happened back in 2020 I was in the process of replacing my floors for my condo, but the contractor that I ORIGINALLY hired with a different company kept giving me the run around and never finished the project. I reached out to Valot General Contractors through a friend of mine about my situation and they worked with me on the materials and how I wanted to get the project done. I'm definitely not the easiest customer to have because I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but they EXCEEDED the expectations!! My original contractor half assed the work so they didn't have an easy job to complete because they also had to fix up the previous mess. They did absolutely amazing and Pedro was always on time. He worked with my busy schedule to make sure we could complete the job correctly. Susie, the project manager always made sure I was up to date on the project and what was needed. I will definitely be reaching out again to have them do other projects for me in the future.

Sadly, this contractor walked off the job after he had been paid in full. He spent about 8.5 weeks…read moreon the job working at a painfully slow pace. His guys told me that they were being asked to do things they didn't know how to do, and it became evident in their slowness. For instance, the day before he walked, he sent two guys to my job--one a painter and another a helper - to tile the bathroom shower. When I asked why it took them all day to only lay 3 tiles, they told me that it took him 4 hours to measure for the tiles, and the other time to lay them. I spoke to the office to complain, and she defended them. In the end, this contractor took a large commercial job, and his workers told me that he would be fined if he missed a deadline. Despite the fact that he was a month past my deadline, he choose to pull his guys after I'd paid him $26,000 (Full payment). I anticipate that he will respond by saying that he ran into things he did not expect. That is true. He had to remove the sheetrock from about 15 feet and replace it, rewire 5 electrical plugs, and do some extensive plumbing work. We made financial arrangements for the extra work, and I acknowledge that it pushed back the timeline a little. But that does NOT give him an excuse to walk away from a job that he was paid in full for. I DO NOT recommend this contractor--he uses amateurs that cannot get the job done. UPDATE: I am having to redo a lot of the electrical work he did, and the windows he installed are wrong. They open crooked and get stuck.
