Green Acres is top notch. We started a bench seat around the fire pit and for unseen reasons weren't able to complete the project. Jesse, Richie, and Pope had the seat/wall finished in no time. They are professional, courtesy, and went way beyond what we expected. Dave was understanding of our situation and extremely easy to work with getting us on his busy schedule quickly. Called them after the 1st quote I received was really high. After a day or so, Dave Arnold came out and physically surveyed. He was very knowledgeable and gave me a quote on the spot. We agreed on a price that was reasonable and set a project start date of 10 days or so. Dave called to let me know they could come 3 days earlier. He brought a crew of six. They were very efficient in 96 degree heat. They got almost everything done in the same day but had to return just for mulch (planned.). Good quality products. Customer service and interaction with those that do the installation of plants is horrible. The owner seems to be far too busy to care much about talking with customers. Business needs a customer service representative that will take the time to ensure that the customer's needs and requirements are met. Also it seems that a 60% installation fee is a bit steep considering the limited amount of effort expended to install the items. read more

I hired Dave to install new sod in my backyard. With over ten years in the business, I expected professional work. Silly me. My sod all died, even after I followed all of Dave's advice. Turns out that professional landscapers all till to a depth of 6 to 8 inches before putting down sod. Dave merely aerated the ground. So grass could not penetrate soil and thus died. He came over when sod was dying, had a "whaddya want me to do about it?" attitude. Guess he didnt care that he blanked up my sod installation to the tune of $2700. Honestly, do NOT hire Green Acres. After being a patron of Green Acres since 2004, I decided to have them put grass sod down in the spring of 2016 for $2900. Too make a long story short, the sod completely died and it took a herculean effort to have Dave Arnold (owner) inspect the grass in August of 2016. When he finally arrived at my house, He recommended that my wife water the grass. My wife, a Master Gardener, was floored. During the spring/summer, she added dirt, seeds and watered per new grass requirements. Dave later told us he would come out in Sept to reseed the sod. He never showed. My review is on Green Acres Nursery located on 9230 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485. I hired David Arnold (owner/operator) to put in some flowers, build two retaining walls and put in a drainage riverbed to properly drain the water runoff in my back yard. All of this work cost over $4 thousand dollars. Dave completed the work at the end of July 2012. I had to call him back to correct some problems with one retaining wall due to the spacing between the stones and to complete the drainage around my driveway. Some work was completed while some other was not. During this time period it was extremely dry and there was not any water runoff to see how the riverbed was performing. Later in August after some good rain storms I noticed that the water was not running through the riverbed but along the side of it. My wife and I contacted Dave to have the problem resolved. Dave stated he would come by and assess the situation later in the month. I did notice later in the month that there were some clumps of dirt along the side of the riverbed but nothing seemed to be disturbed in the riverbed. After phoning Dave again he stated that he was out there and corrected the problem. As of November 2012, 4 months later, the problem has not been resolved. I have emailed and called Dave to have him come out and correct the problem but he has declined to respond to my emails or voicemails. The black plastic is exposed in the riverbed, the riverbed is not deep enough to have the water run through it and it is slanted towards the house leaving the initial problem of water running into the yard unabated. I would not recommend this small town nursery to anyone wanting landscaping done to his or her property. Dave was nice upon his initial visit but unresponsive after receiving payment for the shoddy landscaping. read more
