Opted to give whetstone a second try. Not because we are interested in becoming members or coming…read morehere regularly, just wanted to try out something different from our norm. Pros : -Climbing options were good. There are a large variety of ropes to choose from. -There are 4 autobelay options I believe -There is also a lead climbing area. -Of course there is also a bouldering area which seemed like quite a few choices, but they were busy working on it today so there was not much of it open to use. -They have some sinks out by the climbing wall so you can go wash your hands and not have to take off all your gear in order to wash your hands. Cons: -Price! holy smokes $46 for me and my daughter climb for 2 hours. Yikes!!! this is more than i pay for my gym membership for my entire family for a month......... That does not include gear rental either as we have our own so we didn't need any of theirs. If you want or need gear it will be more. -You will need to fill out the waiver upon entering not a big deal but their ipad system makes it a little tough to get through. -If you want to do more than bouldering you will need to take a test for top rope and also watch a video for autobelay. Okay fairly standard. However, they failed to mention until after I paid that 1. they were working on the bouldering wall so not much available there. 2. The guy couldn't leave the front desk and no one else was available so can't do the auto belay training either If a good chunk of things are not going to be an option and obviously we are not a regular maybe make sure you let people know BEFORE they pay. We did do the top ropes test. It will take between 5-15 minutes depending on you. I just felt jipped because we did not have the option of using anything and I paid what I felt like was a LOT of money! They could have at least told me upfront that hey you wont be able to use the auto belay and a lot of our bouldering is tore up so probably can't use a lot of that either. I may have made a different decision and went elsewhere. Anyhow. I guess my impression from last time 2 years ago about to this time was not much different.

I tried Whetstone for the first time last week and had a great experience. I've done some indoor…read morerock climbing sporadically in the past, but it's been a while. Whetstone was a great place to ease back into it. We went on a Monday morning, so it was nice and quiet. The staff was really helpful in getting us set up with waivers, day passes, and a shoe rental for me. The shoes were very basic and smelled pretty bad, but that's what I'd expect from rentals. I also needed to get belay certified which was quick--it took about 5-10 minutes. The staff member conducting the test had some great feedback and safety suggestions for me during the test and ultimately I passed. We climbed for about two hours. There were a ton of routes of varying difficulties, all very clearly marked. I could've climbed there all day if my arms didn't pump out! The music was on point as well. Next time I would like to go later in the day so I can grab a beer with friends afterwards at Whetstone's cute little bar.

BRC deserves more than the 3.5 average it has right now…read more I can't comment on hearsay about managers or "uninspired" climbs (I am not a route-setter nor do I claim to be one) but BRC is pretty solid. The gym area is really nice, far surpassing The Spot Boulder (the other climbing gym BRC is usually being compared too). And unlike Movement Boulder, BRC has auto-belays so you don't need a partner to rope climb. BRC also has a small lounge area where you could theoretically work from (free WIFI) and free coffee and tea for members every morning until 11am. The biggest downside to BRC I'd say is that it's really a rope-climbing gym. The bouldering area has a lot to be desired if comparing it to The Spot (which in BRC's defense is a bouldering-specific gym). And though there are auto-belays, there's only about 1/2 dozen (I think?) so unless you have a partner to climb with most the climbing is inaccessible to you. On a side note, I do find the crowd at BRC about 20'ish years older than that at The Spot too. I received a free week at BRC after taking one of their belay classes and thoroughly enjoyed my time.

There are three main climbing gyms in Boulder and this is undoubtedly the worst of them…read more First and foremost, they offer the worst product at almost the exact same price. While Movement and The Spot have several gyms within driving distance of each other, the BRC charges nearly the same price for their single location. That means that members here are paying for less product than they would receive at other gyms. Second, the management is bad. The general manger exudes a kind of psycho energy as he stares at climbers through the front desk window. Multiple BRC youth team members have said that the managers make them feel uncomfortable. This has been going on for years and as far as I know they have done nothing to address it. Finally, the climbs at this gym are uninspired. There are a couple talented route setters on their staff, but the majority are inexperienced kids with an inflated sense of importance. It's truly amazing that a company that only needs to set a few routes per week is somehow putting out worse climbs than their competitors with 3x-5x the amount of setting.

The staff members were so helpful and kind, they showed the kids what to do safely, and then let them go at it on the appropriate courses. I don't know the technical terms but the ones that allowed them to clip themselves in and come down when they were ready was amazing. They treated the kids like any other climbers, and they were absolute naturals. My husband and I just watched (supervised) in awe. We took a short dinner break across the street at John's restaurant and bar (AWESOME) and then they went back to climbing until almost 9pm. It was truly one of the best days we have ever had as a family. Oh and then they begged to go back the next day so we went (equally amazing!). Their confidence skyrocketed and they are well on their way to being lifelong climbers. The only issue was that any other gym we go to will pale in comparison to our experience here! Many walls are not that high nor are the gyms as friendly to kids. Really superior facility. Thank you to the whole team! We will definitely be back!

Front desk has been rly nice and said they will also confront them next time I see them. There's good setting for each grade, moon board, spray wall, hang boards, weight lifting, and yoga classes. The turnover of setting could be better. It's February and there are still routes from October. Parking can also be really bad during peak hours.

Words cannot even begin to express what a wonderful experience we had today visiting CHAMP Sports…read moreAcademy! My husband and I are from Wyoming and needed some indoor batting practice before our upcoming Rockies Fantasy Camp. We were only able to come to Windsor at very specific times due to the long drive. The owners, Brian and Krista, were very accommodating in adjusting their hours for us. The facility is very versatile to everyone's needs. We were able to use one of the 8 batting cages for some throwing practice, which was an added bonus. The batting cages offer several options to cater to your needs and budgets. We used the amazing Homeplate Simulator and were not disappointed!! It is the most realistic batting experience next to receiving pitches from a pro pitcher. It allows adjustments for speed, type of pitch, etc. Brian, Krista and their staff were super helpful through the whole experience. While we only did baseball batting practice, the Academy also offers options for softball, basketball and soccer! So the next time you are looking for an indoor sports facility, you will not be disappointed with CHAMP Sports Academy. We're looking forward to our next visit. It is worth the drive!
