This company is a joke. The representative helping select pictures with our sorority sisters was extremely rude and profoundly unprofessional. Not only did he rush everyone through the process, but he effectively told multiple sisters they were not pretty to their face. He left quite a few people extremely unhappy with their pictures, which cannot EVER be retaken and will stay with them for life. This company should not receive anyone's business if their employees are heartless enough to act like this, and leave this impression on new sisters. This man singlehandedly gave multiple people a bad day, or even a bad week, and he deserves to be fired. This company also has no way to reach out and complain about this person, so there's not even a way to let the company know about the actions of their employee. 0/5 stars if I could, worst representative to exist. read more

My experience with this company was miserable. First the photographer made me hold my head in a series of strange ways, not looking at the camera, and then when i had to go to the table to view the pictures with another man he was unbelievably rude. The pictures were all bad (due to the fact that I was not able to look at the camera) and when I kindly asked if it was possible to retake them he rudely said no and asked why. When I explained that I just didn't think I looked pretty in them and that I would be able to fix it if I tried again he replied "well retaking them isn't going to change that." Men like this should not be allowed to work with young women and especially not with organizations full of young women with the goal of lifting up women. Ordering images should be easy, right? Not with this company. I was sent a link to view 4 images. The link did not work. I emailed and called customer service. I was finally sent a link which at first had the 4 images. When trying to decide what to order, all but 1 disappeared. I emailed again for help. I received a response that they would look into it. Nothing else. I finally just ordered the 1 available image. I paid $75 for the digital download. The confirmation email said I would receive it within 5 business days. It has been over 5 business days and I still have not received the image. read more

Vantine Imaging has apparently been in the business of college fraternity and sorority pictures for most of its history. My only exposure to them came in the form of a letter from them demanding payment for photos my daughter had supposedly ordered. However, my daughter had been led to believe that she had placed a $10 deposit just so we could go online and review her photos in case we wanted to order them. When I went on the website, there was no option to order photos. There was no option to see what package she had supposedly ordered or to order more photos. The only option was to pay $77 in advance for a an undefined package of photos. The letter also "encourage" you to pay in advance to avoid an extra COD charge. Who sends anything COD these days? In any event, please be aware that the only way to cancel the order is to call them, you cannot do it online. I will give them credit for agreeing to cancel the order and refund the $10 when I did call. read more

I called them multiple times in December to ensure that my composite photo would be correct (because every time they sent the proof I had no picture - as Chapter President lol) and the photo was, of course, incorrect when I got it. I've called every account representative for 3 days and no one has answered the phone or returned my calls. Don't use Vantine! Extremely poor customer service. Unresolved issue. My daughter ordered pictures through her sorority. When the pictures arrived they were so discolored/over developed or something that her naturally light blonde hair looked almost dark orange! I called the company several times and not once did anyone answer. I left messages with several different people's voice mails asking very courteously for them to return my call and send out reprints that were better quality/accurate color and not once has anyone returned my call, addressed the issue or sent better quality reprints. The first message was left 2 months ago.... Horrible customer service. Terrible quality. Unresolved. Sadly, we've used Vantine in the past and never had any issues. I'm not sure if they got new, poor employees or new, poor management or both but this is not the Vantine we've known and done business with. read more

I have never left a review on Yelp before but I feel so strongly negative about this company that I had to take the time to warn people - THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY YOU WILL EVER HAVE THE DISPLEASURE OF WORKING WITH. First, they use very shady and misleading contracts to rope you into multiple years of their service. To make matters worse, they are very unaccommodating when asked to review the contract to review the language they said we signed to. Secondly, since we were unfortunate enough to be forced into multiple years of service, we have had to do multiple composite photos through them. Each time they have messed up the composite, with mistakes ranging from misspelling our organization's name to putting repeat pictures through the composite. They refuse to offer refunds for their mistakes. Third, they have consistently changed the scheduled dates we have set up with them. This morning I received an email saying they can no longer honor our appointment for the next day. Completely unprofessional, over-priced, unaccommodating, and shady. You would have better luck making your own composite. read more

This is probably the shadiest company that I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. They took my sorority composites, and after coming in to decide which picture I wanted for my composite, they asked if I wanted to order any pictures for my family to have. I asked how much it would cost to get 2 5x7s of just my own picture, and they said it was only $10. I gave them $10 in cash and gave them my home address to send the pictures to my parents. My parents yesterday received a COD for $75. APPARENTLY Vantine imaging thought that people are insane enough to pay $42.5 per 5x7 picture? Apparently the $10 that they told me was fairly reasonable was just a DOWN payment. Not once when I spoke to the photographer/register did they mention any cost beyond the $10. Apparently they just assume you will be dumb enough (as I was) to sign off on my picture and agree. Luckily I called and told them I would under NO circumstances pay, especially after being completely LIED to. DO NOT use this company for composites under any circumstances. read more

When he didn't respond, instead of canceling the order, they sent the photos to his home address They sent a box C.O.D. to our home with 2 5x7 photos and a 52.00 C.O.D. bill. Who has ever gotten a C.O.D package? It is unheard of anymore. The trick is sending this to the students home address where parents accept it not knowing what's in the box. An overpriced couple of small pictures. I'm glad I was in time to stop payment on the check. A word of warning, if you get a C.O.D from this company, do not accept it. read more

Not only is Vantine an absolute RIPOFF, but their customer service is seriously lacking. It is extremely important as a photographer to make your subject feel good, at the VERY LEAST they should feel comfortable. Vantine's photographers are condescending, snarky, and all around rude, young men. I do not see how anyone's pictures come out decent with those men behind the cameras. I went in to ask a question and was ignored at first, and then someone else (whom was sprawled out on a couch playing on his phone) said that they had to do "paperwork" before our session-which is totally okay, I was early and just wanted to ask if they were ready. Regardless, it should be in their best interest to be kind to their customers. On top of that, I overheard them speaking poorly on the staff of California State University, Sacramento which is where this session was being held. This was an absolute ripoff. I am not satisfied with my experience at all. The entire process felt rushed and the employees made me feel like I was under an immense amount of pressure. The woman taking the photo did not make me feel comfortable or allow me to have an input on what I wanted myself to look like in the photo. She also had me look at her finger way off to the side instead of at the lens of the camera which is NOT how you take. So I look like I'm staring off into space. After I was finished taking the pictures the company lead me to believe that I had to choose a photo package without telling me the prices of anything. The price is RIDICULOUSLY high and they swindle you into buying a package that you don't need by making you feel super pressured. Overall, do not recommend. read more

Vantine Imaging is a scam operation. First they collect a $10 deposit from my 18 year old son (who is pledging the fraternity, so does not want to "rock the boat" by asking questions) that then obligates us as parents to the portrait charges, without being allowed to view the proofs or any options with an email stating that "C.O.D. charges will apply" if the parent does not respond within less than 7 days. I asked if I could have the portraits in a blue background color, so they charged an extra $10 for a different, very cheesy, but slightly better than the washed out gray background "included" in the extremely low quality 5x7 prints ($22 plus tax and S&H). Lifetouch does 5x7 color prints for $6.99 (blue background included) and their quality is far superior to the quality of the portrait sent to me by Vantine Partners. read more

There are four reviews for this outfit -- one "recommended" and three "not recommended." I don't know why those three are not recommended, because they accurately reflect my experience with TWO of my college children, who are six years apart, different genders, and attended different schools. The other day we received that "threatening letter," and it recalled to mind our experience back in 2008. Again a "package" that our child had not ordered; again a $10 "non-refundable deposit" that was represented to our child as the cost of a single 5x7 copy of the photo. And when I phoned "customer service" I was told she'd ordered some weird selection of wallet-size, 5x7, and 8x10 prints that I know she'd never even consider. Yes, they did agree to refund the $10, but I hate to think how many others just rolled over. I don't mind paying for what was ordered or for what is desired -- and I'm not one of those something-for-nothing moochers -- but this business model simply stinks. Unlike Wayne L., I don't "give them credit" for agreeing to cancel and refund -- any more than I'd credit the apprehended thief who then "agrees" to return the goods. read more

Horrible service. They do not let you use appropriate props or hats or anything fun. they claim it comes from nationals guidelines, but that is all lies, even our people from nationals said they were wrong. They do not care about their jobs and put 0 effort in. You may get some help from the higher ups who make the lower tier people do their jobs for once. We had a mascot picture and they had to edit it a handful of times to make it look good since the first time around they did not try any editing and just slapped a pack of cigs duct tapped to a stand (it was brutal). They trick you into signing renewals as well, we made that mistake a year or two before I joined and now going into my senior year we are finally free of them. We are exploring the market, but they all seem to suck. The customer service is dog shit and the photo crew are assholes and put in 0 effort. The dude that wears a little English paper boy hat is a cringey dude. Lastly, they rush you through the whole process, we have like 30 members so it's not like we are a huge task. It is honestly a paradox- they are slow asf when getting people into the pictures and you wait for long times and then they just suddenly turn on the jets make you sit in shit poses and fly through your pics and then do not let you retake them if you look bad. Morale of the story, Vantine sucks and who knows if we will ever find a quality company with good reviews. read more

My daughter had her sorority composite taken by Vantine. When the picture I ordered arrived, it had been damaged in the mail. I received very kind and prompt service by Rebecca after I contacted Vantine for a replacement. She went above and beyond to apologize, to make sure I knew she understood my disappointment and would send the replacement promptly. I was very pleased with how I was treated. I am surprised this company is still in business. BEWARE. Their business model seems to be to take fraternity and sorority pictures on college campuses for a non-refundable $10 "deposit" paid by the student. The company then tries to extort full payment ($94.89) through a C.O.D. process that forces the postman to come to your door to collect on their behalf. They mail several intimidating letters to try to get you to pay before they send the pictures C.O.D. I don't care if these are the greatest pictures ever taken of my son. I would never make a purchase through this process. My mail carrier told me as I declined to accept the package that she had two other families decline that day as well. Here's a suggestion; be transparent and provide some purchase option in a legitimate manner. Marketing by intimidation is not a successful business model, unless of course you consider the non-refundable $10 they charge broke college students all over the country. read more

I ordered a printed photo from the photographer who took our sorority composite photos, and I was very disappointed with what I got. The pictures were unedited, and looked very different than the one used in the composite. In addition, there was no background, just the black canvas used when the picture was taken. The photos were even damaged and bent. Overall, I could have taken a better photo with any smartphone and a filter. Customer service was also very bad. I experienced long hold times, and had a difficult time talking to anyone. I would not recommend this company. They overcharge for a poor quality product and show little respect for their consumers. If possible, use a different company! read more

My daughter had her portrait taken with her sorority. She wanted me to be able to order some pictures and was told at her sitting that if she put down a $10 deposit I could do so. She specifically stated at her sitting that she did not want to order at that time and was assured that the $10 was a deposit and not an actual order and that later I could choose what I wanted. I received a "bill" in the mail for $50.99 that stated "my daughter had placed an order and that I owed this amount in balance". I went on the website to see if I could choose a specific package. No option exists. I called customer service and there was no answer. I left a message saying I wanted to be able to see the choices. I recieved a message back a few days later just asking me to send the money, not answering my question about how to choose a package. The only conclusion I can come to is that this company is trying to scam parents into paying for things their students did not order and they hope some will fall for it. read more

This is apparently an old world company coasting on the business of fraternity and sorority composite photos. Of course, every Fall each new batch of greeks keeps doing what their predecessors do, and they order the same photos from the same old company clueless as to how this company operates. The real money comes from deceit of the students and parents. The clueless Freshman college kids come in for their "sitting" and are mislead into saying something that Vantine misinterprets as an "order". In my case, my daughter told them she wanted nothing other than her photo included in the group sorority composite. In November a COD package arrived at our door (no legitimate company would send anything COD these days). In a rare moment of doubt and confusion I accepted the package because it had my daughters name on it and I assumed it was something she wanted. Turns out it is was a few photos for which I had just handed the postman $88 before being allowed to open the package to see what was inside (grossly overpriced for what we got and nothing special at all). After speaking with my daughter I learned she neither ordered nor wanted the photos. Now... same goes for me. This company knows that many parents will fall into same trap I did. While borderline legal, this modus operandi clearly defines a company that builds revenue by a carefully crafted series of deceitful practices. After calling and never getting an answer (they don't answer their phones-- another clue as to what kind of company this is) I get recording they are on "summer hours"... something like 6 hours per day X 4 days a week. What kind of company operates like this? Left message. Got call back to discuss this mess. I have now had to spend my money to ship this unwanted package back to them for a refund. This was done via UPS ground which I tracked to being delivered July 11. As of Aug 4 no refund has been issued. After another round of telephone tag I get call back stating "they only process refunds once a month" (really-- why?) so it could be sometime between now and Aug 30 before they get around to sending me a refund. I'm sure they will drag this out as long as possible. Sad low-life companies like this still exist. Even sadder that they continue to do a lot of business with the greek system at many colleges. They are unaccountable because the greeks are clueless this is going on behind their backs with their individual members. read more

This company seems to specialize in ripping off young adults and/or their parents. My son was told two images would cost $40 and that the company would bill his parents. While that was a bit pricey, he was willing to pay that much. He was not told that the price was actually $43.99 for the prints, or about the extra charges that would be tacked on, including backdrop ($10), embossing ($10), shipping & handling ($7.00) and COD ($9.05), for a total of $60.99 for two drugstore quality prints. read more

It was only a $10 charge so I went along with it. I decided later on that I really didn't want any of their photos and did not order any. A few months later I received a package in the mail and was told I needed to pay $80. I refused the package and the mail-woman told me she's seen this happen multiple times. I went on the website after this incident and saw that they had ordered 1 8x10, 2 5x7s, and 9 wallet photos in my name. I only gave 1 star because giving none isn't possible. If you are in charge of your chapter's composite, DO NOT SIGN WITH THEM. If your chapter is unlucky enough to be with these scam artist, DO NOT BUY PHOTOS FROM THEM. Unfortunately, our past president made the mistake of signing on with this company for a 2 year term. I should have realized how shady this company was when they would not let us out of our contract to have our composite done. First, they charged our chapter of 120 girls $2000. When we asked if this was the price of the composite they said no, just the siting fee, the composite cost would come later. OK, fair enough, it takes a lot of time to photograph that many girls. Too bad the photographer was awful; half the chapter wasn't even looking at the camera. The workers were extremely rude, and the man running the photo selection area tried to trick our new president into signing up for another year! He said the contract was for them being there that day, too bad the dates were for next year! We may be sorority girls Vantine, but we are not stupid. After I had my photos done they asked if I would like to purchase photos. Seeing how it was my senior year I wanted to purchase one for my parents and one for my grandparents, as well as a LinkedIn photo. I was told I could not but the LinkedIn Photo separately, that it had to be with a package. Uh, ok, I guess I'll do the package of two 5x7 and 9 wallets. I was told it would be a $10 deposit and then my parents would be emailed to pay the remaining $45. $55 for photos did seem like a lot, but oh well. About a week later, I get an email in my spam saying my parents owe $91 and that they will be sent my photos COD. They mail the remainder of the statement to the parent and urge you to pay by a date or i will have to pay an $8 COD fee. Really? Because they will stalk me and hunt me down for pics I did not order? No. I called the company to see what this was all about (the pic was for his composite for his new frat) and the rep said that "the letter doesn't give details about the packet because our child was expected to do that." Huh? My 18 year old who just went off 5 hours away to college is going to A) order a "school picture" packet of himself and B)is going to stop and call his parents to tell us he authorized $64 for 2 5x7's and 9 wallets?? I called my son and asked him if the $1000 we had spent on Senior pics 4 months ago were already out dated and he needed yet more selfies. He said that -when the group took their composite - he was asked by the rep if he wanted a 5x7 for $10 - then fill out this form." He had no idea he had "authorized a packet purchase." I sent him a copy of the letter via phone pic and he said none of the details were brought to their attention. It appears to me this company is taking advantage of young adults and parents who are living separate lives. I do not appreciate their tactics on the front end. at all. it is borderline scammish. This company uses deceptive practices. My son had fraternity pictures taken by vantine. They were told they were under no obligation to buy. They asked for a $10 Deposit so that their parents could go online to view the pictures, but assured them that the deposit would be returned if their parents chose not to buy any. My son did not chose any package at the sitting. Several weeks later I got a demanding letter stating that my son had ordered a $80 package and put down a $10 nonrefundable deposit. It stated how to pay and that if payment was not received by a certain date, they would send the pictures COD with an additional charge added on. I was not happy with the tone of the letter and how they had lied to my son, so I called and told them I was not going to order any pictures and I wanted the $10 deposit returned. To their credit, they agreed. However two weeks later they sent the pictures COD $93. I refused delivery and two weeks later received another letter demanding payment "for the pictures you ordered and shipped COD as you requested" I was shocked that this company could still be in business using such deceptive practice!! Ironically they don't even need to. Everyone wants to buy pictures of their children and I would have bought some gladly if they hadn't lied,pressured and threatened. read more
