I've visited twice now and each experience was different. I should be clear that my first visit was great, which is why I went back. I was less happy with that second visit. It seems that, typically, visitors are led into the main room of the house in front of the fireplace (the same fireplace Whittier made famous in his poem "Snow-Bound") where the guide gives a (clearly unrehearsed) narrative of the life and work of the so-called Quaker poet. Certainly, Whittier was an interesting fellow, but the guide would do well to watch their time (and be aware of the body language of visitors). After the potentially tedious talk, the visitor is led through the rest of the house - totaling about four rooms. The last time I went, if my eyes lingered too long on anything, I was treated to a long diatribe about the hapless object of my attention. It was hard to enjoy. Ultimately, the experience depends on who is working that day. The experience should last no more than 45 minutes for such a small house museum. If it doesn't, the guide isn't doing a good job.

Most of the furniture dates back to the original home when Whittier lived there. Also, they had the original book of poems that Whittier carried every day of his life! I loved it. The other houses that I have seen in the surrounding areas. The tour guide to this house, Gus, was a very nice man. Yes, he was a little long in the tour and also went on about his personal life, however he was an extremely passionate nice gentleman.

Adults traveling alone may find a set itinerary somewhat confining, but with kids it is fantastic because they know what to expect and can be prepared. After expressing an interest in both Disney AND a cruise, she emailed me a variety of different cruises that left from the Orlando area. She informed my fiancé and I of the different cruise lines and what was unique to each one. Then, she helped us find information about the best package possible for Disney. From the Embassy Suites by Hilton at Boston Logan airport it was less than 10 minutes to Airport station. We cut through the park and headed to the station on foot. Standing at the ticket machine we were trying to decide how many rides we wanted to buy. Fortunately there was a MBTA agent on hand. He suggested we buy a one day unlimited Charlie card for $11.00. We each purchased one. Then we took the blue line to get to Faneuil Hall. Later we also took the SL3 to get to Seaport from Airport station. The Charlie Card was perfect. And every driver we encountered was friendly and very helpful.

We never had to take a bus or train, and the longest we ever waited was five minutes. Forget taking a trolley ride of the city, we had tour guides wherever we went-local drivers that were happy to give us the scoop! It was much more organized that the system in Minnesota-professional, courteous, and made traveling with a disability much easier than it would have been if I had to take buses, trains, and taxis, or if we had to rent a car in order to see the city. This way I was able to focus on having a great trip even though walking long distances is hard for me. This was a great service!

They are firing many of the drivers if they have the slightest, routine health defect (which is just about everyone). They have too few drivers and are routinely half an hour to 45 minutes late. I have been late for many appointments. My driver Thursday told me they just have too few drivers now. When you call to ask where your ride is, they are told to say it's just around the corner. When you call in another 15 minutes, they routinely lie again. It's really a shame that handicapped and mobility impaired people are treated like this. But, we're not the 1%, so many feel we don't deserve anything.
