My two favorites were the one notifying patients that they must pay all co-pays before you can even see the doctor. I have never had to prepay for medical care and this is not a gas station! Right below this one is a sign that tells you that you must be no more "then" (misspelled) 15 minutes late or you will be rescheduled. On my first and last visit to this doctor, I prepaid the co-pay and then read the 15 minute rule sign until the appointment time had lapsed by 45 minutes. I asked the desk when we would be seen and was informed it would be at least another 30 minutes until we saw the doctor. The people in the lobby with us were waiting an hour and 15 minutes past their appointment time until they were called back to the next waiting room. Apparently, I can only be 15 minutes late, but the doctor can be 75 minutes late. I guess he thinks his time is 5 times more valuable than his patients' time. When I asked if we could reschedule and then voiced my expectation that the doctor would reciprocate his 15 minute rule, I was told that he was a very popular and busy doctor and that maybe he is not the doctor for my mom. I agreed. I got a refund on my copay and walked out. We'll find a doctor who appreciates and respects his or her patients more equally to what he or she puts in writing as expected from the patients. Apparently, they do not accept appointments by phone; instead only people with smart phones and the internet can access care here. And yes, some people do exist who don't have those things. Anyway, the woman on the phone said the online scheduling was necessary to prevent people with COVID from entering the office. If we are still trembling in fear of a scam-demic then at this point I don't know what to say. I bet these are the type of tyrants who probably refused to treat the filthy unvaccinated at one point. The woman on the phone was absolutely belligerent and hung up on me. Thinks not the only podiatry office in Johnstown so I'll be taking my business elsewhere. It's pretty scary when pain hits suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere and it doesn't go away no matter what I do. Visits with our PCP ends on an unsatisfactory note. The Dr prescribes physical therapy and medication. It feels like abandonment when our medical professional stops listening when nothing seems to work long term. It got to the point I was resigned to the fact that no treatment existed and I would have to struggle with chronic pain for the rest of my life. Depression hangs over my head like a black cloud for months. A referral and subsequent appointment with Dr Shetty gives me hope and no more hitting brick walls. Dr Shetty is a medical professional that weighs the objective evidence before stating definitively what's going on and what's next. I did not feel he was guessing at what was going on and I did not feel like I was a lab experiment. His calm, relaxed demeanor and methodical approach let me know the good Dr was actually weighing objective evidence. He asked specific questions and conducted a physical examination to find the location and nature of my chronic pain. After reviewing the x-rays, Dr Shetty concluded with an evidence-based determination. There was no rush as I asked my questions. Dr Shetty was respectful and listened to my concerns. He responded with empathy and was pleasant overall. I know the end of this saga will be chronic pain-free. He's exceptional as an orthopedic and pain management specialist.
