I approached the Pharma counter for a recommendation. As fate would have it, a western Iowa native by the name of Connor stepped up to fulfill my needs in the war against bad breath. Without hesitation, he declared Oral-B as the GOAT of t-brushes. "Throw that Colgate in the trash." - Bob 3:16 Thank you Dr. Clark!!!

I ordered a cheeseburger and a can of soda. The warm cans of soda were resting in a tub of lukewarm water. There were no napkins. The patio door was locked, so there was no place to sit down. The incident made me grumpy. So after I had finished my overpriced burger, I went back to the point of sale and complained. I politely suggested to the grill cook, Bryan, an Assistant Manager, that they had a customer service problem. I detailed it (lukewarm soda, lack of napkins, and a locked patio). Acting like a jackass seventeen-year-old, he said they did not have a problem. He did not accept the problem , Instead he denied there was one... He did not apologize and instead escalated his unprofessional manner. Whatever happened to the HyVee slogan "a helpful smile in every aisle"? I guess since he was outside the store, he's not required to be civil to the customers ...

(As a mom of two with an insanely packed schedule, delivery is essential.) Alas, it's available now for online shopping and pickup! I ordered on a Friday morning and picked up my order later that afternoon. (Pickup is available for any order over $30.) The online interface is great! Compared to Hyvee and Walmart I'll make the bold statement in saying it is the best. I say this because there are plenty of deals at Fareway (buy this item and get this item free) and 1) it shows your these deals seamlessly but also, 2) you're able to see the discount in your cart right away! Pickup slots are right out front, directly outside the front door. Just push a button on your confirmation email to say when you're leaving or there. My order came out super quick, the staff was wonderful, my order was correct and price was right. No complaints here! I'll be ordering pickup again soon! Try Fareway's online ordering now.

When I went back today to get the missing item, I showed them the receipt that showed the purchase but they said they would need to look at their camera footage to be able to tell what happened. Hy-Vee would never have asked for that and would have just replaced my item. At the end of this experience the clerk then told me I must have forgotten to put the item in my cart, even though their employee had been loading the cart. I will not be back...

The grocery store is very nicely organized, clean, and well-stocked with a variety of Mexican and Latin American items. The restaurant is attached and it too is clean and newly furnished with booths. The bar offers seating as well. The staff here are super friendly! And the food is fantastic! Their street tacos ($3) are delicious and my new favorite item is the "sencillas" ($5) - a large fresh flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans and queso. Served warm and melty - the accompanying salsa is a little spicy. But I had no trouble squirting in on and devouring it! They also have freshly made tamales on occasion - the "salsa verde y pollo" (green salsa with chicken) is DELICIOUS!! Check out their menu and give this place a try!!

Person 2 ordered a chicken taco. I ordered a chorizo taco and a chicken taco. Our food arrived promptly and as ordered. we all had corn tortillas. They are street sized and made by hand when ordered; not the 14" monster tortillas from a package. They're slightly thicker than packaged corn tortillas. They did not rip nor were they dried out and grainy like many packaged corn tortillas. All meats were flavorful. Chicken and pork were cooked to perfection - tender and juicy; not hard and dried out. The chorizo was cooked just right. It had a little kick but wasn't so spicy it was not eatable like some I've had. The onion, tomato, cilantro and other toppings were all so fresh. Presentation was great and enticing. I'd had beer earlier in the day and was driving so I stuck with water as did the others. Chatted with the cook for a bit. great gal. Everything is handmade. Wish she was my abuelita. Conversation on the way home centered on returning tomorrow for more of this great food and how tasty and filling the tacos were.

Surprisingly, the inventory on 12/23 was very good. I picked up exactly what I needed. Plenty of friendly staff working, but there just isn't enough room to move around. We were 3-carts wide in the aisles. My fault for having to shop on 12/23, but still. We got in and out quickly. I enjoy the 'specialty' items that Aldi carries for short periods of time. For example, the Green Bean Casserole pizza I picked up. Or unique sauces and jellies. Many unique cheeses. They have so much more than that. They also have their infamous 'aisle of shame.' This is the aisle you go down if you want to blow your grocery budget, or if you have no budget at all. We're talking about the non-food items. Those throw pillows, boots, candles, underwear you didn't know you need. Don't leave Aldi without strolling down this one. I should also mention their extensive wine and beer selection. Not sure it's Trader Joe's level, but good nonetheless. Check them out next time you're in the area. I'm a frequent shopper, so maybe I'll bump into you. Don't forget that quarter for the shopping cart rental. You WILL need a cart.

They also provide catering and will do a beautiful and professional job, going above and beyond with the quality of their food selections and presentation. The store is a fun and cozy place to shop, and they usually have samples...the deli is the highlight of the store with so many yummy treats you won't be able to walk away without at least a few goodies.
