The Owner and staff are professional and cater to the hunter the best they can to insure success, Hunter and our Guide Leroy pick the best areas for you based on wind, weather and other conditions and have always been on Animals every time we go! This the email sent to Great Southern Outdoors. "I hunted at GSO in early January 2025. I shot a deer and Hunter Pritchett (the owner) told me he could have it processed and shipped to me warning that the shipping would be expensive which I ok with. I still have not received my deer meat which is the primary reason I booked the hunt not to get a trophy buck although that would have been nice. I was fully prepared to transport my deer back and have it processed but decided that the convenience of having it shipped was an added benefit. I understand that you cannot have complete control over your suppliers but I talked with the processor at least 8 times and each time I was assured that shipping was would be taken care of after deer season ended. It is and has been a source of frustration. You can look forward to unsatisfactory reviews if I don't get the deer meat or if I have to anything more beyond this email. This is the email received from Hunter Pritchett, the owner of GSO. "Dear Fran, We are terribly sorry that you have not received your deer meat. However, being my first time hearing about this issue I have reached out to my processor to ask why there is a delay. Please know that processors are a completely different entity than Great Southern Outdoors. In my experience I have not had any issues with the processor that I recommended and would not have advised you to use them if I felt there would be any problems. I do know they are good people and will make this right. Can you give me an idea of the last conversation you had and what you expected as far as date you should have received, etc? Hunter Pritchett" This was not a recommendation, Hunter said he could have my deer meat processed and sent to me but shipping would be expensive which I agreed to pay. He provided an order form and transported the deer to the processor. He is now claiming that the processor is a completely different entity and is just him covering his butt. He charged me $400 - 500 a day to hunt told me he would get the meat processed and now wants to say not my fault or problem since I haven't heard back from him in weeks. A good and reputable business person would accept responsibility and find a way to make it right not back away and claim no responsibility. As I said in my original email I know they can't control everything that their suppliers do but how they handle YOUR customers is a reflection on GSO since it was GSO who said you could have the meat processed and shipped. It wasn't me who picked the vendor or delivered the meat. Hunter is a fairly young guy that I understand inherited the business from his father and needs to learn some things about running a business. My opinion of him is that he wants to be seen as an authoritarian figure and really has the guides jumping to his every word. It seems to me that he also wants his clients to see him in this light. I found it very strange that he wasn't around at check in time to welcome his guests or around at check out to thank his clients for using his service. I wouldn't be writing this review had I got my deer meat but I was already looking at other outfitters for the coming year. The guides were outstanding and were the highlight of the trip. Accommodations were fine and lodge like, they talk up the food big time but I found it very average. I was there for three days around January 10. 2024. They talked and talked about how big a buck has to be to shoot and how much of a fine you'll get for not shooting a big buck. (750) Oh guess what, not one person saw a shootable buck out of 11 and they were all good hunters. I saw many very, very small bucks. Also, I was promising a handicap assessable room the room was anything by handicap assessable There was a 4 inch lip to get from the porch into the room. There was no safety for the toilet and no way for me to take a shower. Thankfully I brought my own little ramp so I could at least get in the room. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE-HOG HUNTING The entire staff was friendly and fun, the atmosphere was relaxed, great food and accommodations. Each guide was cool, but our guy Leroy was the best. It was my first time ever hunting anything, and Leroy set us up for success by dropping us at his favorite spots. I got a nice pig and Leroy came over lightning fast to collect him so the meat wouldn't spoil. Then he even cleaned/cut the meat up for me to go home with. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Our group hunted 1/8-1/11/24, which is the first week that the higher fee is in effect. We were sceduled to hunt 3 full days but lost 1 AM hunt due to rough weather. The staff was great, lodging & food were fine too. The reason I don't recomend GSO to anyone is the land is clearly over hunted. There were 11 hunters on those dates & no one saw a shooter deer! I only saw 1 small buck & 2 does in 2 &1/2 days. My buddy didn't see a single deer until the last hunt when he saw a couple of does & took 2 hogs. I never saw any hogs. The other hunters all had similar poor results. Additionally, i was never put on a food plot or green field as i expected. Bottom line is don't waste $2k going to GSO as it is no better & possibly worse than public land. read more

There is not enough stars that I could give this fine establishment. Being a first time hunter I was beyond intimidated to say the least. As we drove up the expansive driveway my anxiety was beyond measure. We were a tad early and were greeted by Chase doing some yard work. Upon reaching the office Hunter greeted us and took care of check in with the utmost professionalism. The plantation was meticulous down to the perfectly hedged bushes and welcoming lounge areas. The cabins were clean and all you needed for your stay. We unpacked and got right down to business on being debriefed for the weekend. Hunter you sir are not only a great speaker but a wonderful leader. As we went through the rules my nerves were calmed to nothing. Which says a lot for this city slicker who stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the skilled hunters in the room. And we were off! Chase was my guide and one of the absolute nicest gentlemen I have ever met. He patiently listened to my ridiculous questions and eased my mind as he walked my to my blind- alone!! Yup i hunted for the absolute first time alone. I can only give this accomplishment out with acknowledgment to the whole GSO team. They made me feel confident and safe. My first hunt was a night hunt and let me tell you what I expected what not what I experienced. Chase stayed in contact with me along with other members of the group the whole time. I got a shot off a hog, but wasn't able to retrieve it. Still an epic night. The whole 3 days was more then I could type in this review. So I'll leave it as this- if you are looking not only for a beautifully kept and gorgeous plantation for your hunting wants, you will get beyond top notch guidance and hospitality from the entire GSO team. This is my first hog hunt and I couldn't hardly imagine a better experience. I saw several hogs at each location Hunter (owner) lead me to. On the first night, my best friend and I shared a blind and brought home 4 hogs. I saw hogs each time I went out, though I wasn't able to connect with any after the first night - that's on me though, I didn't verify my zero prior to hunting. Hunter provided each person with a light that would illuminate the game near the feeder, though I recommend having some sort of night vision capability. You'll see that some of the older hogs are a bit shy of the feeder and if those are the game you want, you'll want to see them without scaring them off with a white light. Many of the blinds will put you at about 25m away from the feeder, so be prepared for close in shots. Some blinds give you shots at hogs up to 250m out, so also be ready for those longer shots at some bigger boars. Hunter and Leroy were quick to clean the game and get it into a cooler and send us off with a ton of ice to keep the meat cool on the drive home. I've seen a lot of poor reviews here. I was concerned that we might not see any hogs and would consider the trip a success if either my friend or I got a single hog between us. The fact is, everyone who was present the weekend I was there saw several hogs. If you shoot at a hog and miss, that's not Great Southern Outdoors' fault. If you smoke during or leading up to a hunt, there's a good chance hogs will avoid you. As a former smoker, I think it is easy to not realize how strong the acrid smell of smoking actually is, and how it totally permeates your clothing. Be aware of the scents and sounds you omit. If you hit a hog and it falls, give it a quick follow-up shot. Many people connected with the first shot, then the hogs got up and ran into the wood line. The brush is thick, save yourself the time of looking for a blood trail. I drove over 8 hours for this experience, and it was worth the drive. The weekend went by almost too quickly. read more

If I could give a zero starts I would to great Southern outdoor I would will one of things hey lie about the three day hunting for hogs they say it's three but ones you get there it's 2 and half day because on Sunday they only hunt on the morning and not in the after they should be onesies about it then they don't give food for three days it's only on Saturday that's it not Friday or Sunday and I did not see not one hog there was 13 of us hunting and one one of us got one hog in two in half days and the blind that I was in wow it could not have anymore dropping into because it not so don't waste your time and here is the picture read more

Was down in August 2022 for a 4 day hog hunt. Hog hunting is a lot different than Deer hunting for sure. I had a great time. Such a great time that I booked the Muzzleloader hunt this November and another Hog hunt in April 2023. The Staff was excellent and the food was out of this world good and plentiful. I did not kill a hog but had my chances for sure. I saw plenty of game. Hunter Pritchett was a great guide that actually gave me a little leeway and put me on the Hogs. The lodging is comfortable and clean. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. By the third day I had to skip a meal I was so full. Great time, Great People, Great Lodge, Great Guides, Great Hunting and even better Fellowship. This was my first "Outfitter" Experience and couldn't have asked for a better time. Myself and three other men from Tennessee traveled down for a weekend hog hunt beginning on Friday September 13th, and ending Sunday September 15th, 2019. We spent approximately 15 hours each on stand during the recommended hours of our guide. None of us saw any hogs. The lodging was adequate, the food was good, the staff friendly; hunting was poor. There were 22 hunters total in camp, two hogs total was taken. There is a possibility you may see a hog, however it is a slim chance. I wouldn't recommend hunt for anyone who must travel far or count on it as an annual hunt. If your looking for a place to chill out, get drunk, relax and say you went hunting, your looking at the right place. read more

Great Southern Outdoors provided a great lodge but completely disappointed in the hunting aspect of the trip. A hog hunt was what was paid for and an old, wobbly hunting blinds/stands with chairs that broke when my average sized 71 year old father sat in it. No apology was offered, only a chuckle and a metal folding chair was provided. 20 hunters and only 2 hogs taken. The most unprofessional guide service out there. No integrity. They are after your money and don't even try to hide it. No scouting, trail cam pics or updated stands. We hunted in the peak of their rut and only 2 deer killed. No one even saw a pig. They talk a big game but produce a big zero. Do not book a hunt with GSO. Spend a little bit more money and hunt their competitors. Lots of shooting on surrounding properties. I'm a very experienced hunter and didn't even see a deer until the last morning (button buck). They don't even want you to shoot your rifle prior to going out. read more

This was my first time hunting and it was an awesome experience. We went Dec 3-Dec 7, which we learned was not the best time. I am from Wisconsin so our seasons and rut are a little different than the south! We didn't see much (that we could shoot) the first couple times out there but the last day proved busy! My dad, husband, and I got a deer (they got does, i got my first buck). They did all the skinning and gutting and cut up the meat to fill in our coolers. I would recommend bringing canvas or something to wrap it so the meat doesn't absorb the water. Food was great, rooms were okay. They don't have trail cams but they know their land and know the best stands/blinds where you are most likely to see something. We are going back again, but closer to the rut (mid-Jan to mid-Feb). read more
