EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE-HOG HUNTING The entire staff was friendly and fun, the atmosphere was relaxed, great food and accommodations. Each guide was cool, but our guy Leroy was the best. It was my first time ever hunting anything, and Leroy set us up for success by dropping us at his favorite spots. I got a nice pig and Leroy came over lightning fast to collect him so the meat wouldn't spoil. Then he even cleaned/cut the meat up for me to go home with. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Cannot wait to go back now that I have a little more experience!

There is not enough stars that I could give this fine establishment. Being a first time hunter I was beyond intimidated to say the least. As we drove up the expansive driveway my anxiety was beyond measure. We were a tad early and were greeted by Chase doing some yard work. Upon reaching the office Hunter greeted us and took care of check in with the utmost professionalism. The plantation was meticulous down to the perfectly hedged bushes and welcoming lounge areas. The cabins were clean and all you needed for your stay. We unpacked and got right down to business on being debriefed for the weekend. Hunter you sir are not only a great speaker but a wonderful leader. As we went through the rules my nerves were calmed to nothing. Which says a lot for this city slicker who stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the skilled hunters in the room. And we were off! Chase was my guide and one of the absolute nicest gentlemen I have ever met. He patiently listened to my ridiculous questions and eased my mind as he walked my to my blind- alone!! Yup i hunted for the absolute first time alone. I can only give this accomplishment out with acknowledgment to the whole GSO team. They made me feel confident and safe. My first hunt was a night hunt and let me tell you what I expected what not what I experienced. Chase stayed in contact with me along with other members of the group the whole time. I got a shot off a hog, but wasn't able to retrieve it. Still an epic night. The whole 3 days was more then I could type in this review. So I'll leave it as this- if you are looking not only for a beautifully kept and gorgeous plantation for your hunting wants, you will get beyond top notch guidance and hospitality from the entire GSO team. Oh and the food was beyond amazing!! Chase thank you thank you for everything and good luck on your next adventures!!!

Great atmosphere. Great food and good hunting. Leroy and Hunter do a great job trying to put you on deer or hogs whichever you want to hunt.

The gentleman that answered the phone said there was space and told us to try to be there before dark. We arrived at 6:30pm, which was after dark, and were told we couldn't camp because he had locked the gate. It would have been helpful if he had told me on the phone not to bother coming if we were going to be there 30 minutes after dark instead of saying "try to be here before dark". We are now in a hotel in Montgomery. Thanks a lot.

Luckily, we paid, and were then calling the phone number to get the code, when someone who was camping pulled up behind us and put the code in for us. The small road bridge leading from the main land to the island was a little scary for me. Good thing there wasn't a car coming the other way, or I would have freaked out even more. This land is wonderful. I could see the appeal to kayak, fish, or have a picnic here, or even camp here. We stopped at the bathrooms first, and they are clean and provide running water. On our drive to the town of Spectre, we ran into the goats. We were driving down the road and all of the goats were coming at us. We put the car in park and enjoyed the goats. One goat even jumped up on my door to say hello. They are fabulous and very friendly. When we exited the vehicle at the Spectre movie set, a super friendly goat was charging at me, I immediately went into the car and the goat approached my boyfriend. All the goat wanted was some pets. And that's what he got. They are like large dogs. There are swing benches around the lake and it is nice to sit and enjoy the scenery. Watch out for goat poop. That is the only bad thing. The goats keep the island well manicured and provide the best entertainment and are adorable.

Parking is non issue. Theres a cute park along the way, artwork... even zip lining. I loved watching the kayaks in the water. A lot about livin' and a little 'bout love." Alan Jackson I remember when Alan released this song in '93 and (having never visited the South to that point) I wondered if he invented some magical river called the "Chattahoochee" because it made for such a catchy guide vocal. Now that we've seen some of what Alan was singing about while on the "Chattahoochee River Walk" in Columbus, Georgia, it makes me wonder if the lyrics to his song could actually be semi-autobiographical. ‍ This trail runs parallel to the river and offers a consistent connection to it during your adventure. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome here and from a safety standpoint I'd assign it a perfect score during daylight hours. Those with mobility challenges should not be dissuaded from enjoying it because it is well maintained, mostly flat, and easily accommodates wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc. While I typically elect to run most of the trails that we review, I quite enjoyed causally meandering along this one. And that's...Henry's Take. #chattahoochee #alanjackson #columbustrails
