I was given a brand new, inexperienced dental assistant who plainly did not know what she was doing. She gagged me 3 times trying to get X-rays, touched the dental drills with her bare, unwashed finger. She did not have the putty to make the temporary cap in the middle of my bite and did not let it set at all so it was formed wrong...the cap popped off the next day. Judy, the other DA told me to use toothpaste to put it back on....didn't work. Office closed on Fri and she did not want to meet me to put it back in. The cap never fit. After 4 visits with numbing, drilling and burning off my gum, I had to have the tooth extracted by an oral surgeon. The dentist cracked the tooth and did so much damage, it had to be removed. It was a horrible experience....do not go to this practice.

A couple of months ago my wife had finally got to a point where she had to have some major work done on her teeth and she settled on Grand Oaks dental in Anderson, SC. After her first appointment (just one of many) she came back bragging about how pain free the whole ordeal was and said that if she would have known it would be this easy she would have gone years ago. I was a bit skeptical of this boast and thought that maybe the Dr hypnotized while she was under the gas or that it might just be a ploy to get me to the dentist myself so I would feel as miserable as she does. She stuck to her story after several visits and I agreed to go. On my first visit my apprehension grew even more when Dr Cannick came in. She looked to be about 18 years old and fresh out of high school. My fears were quickly put to rest though after talking with her for a few minutes. She and her staff are very professional at all times. All of the procedures were fully explained ahead of time and all questions answered. She has surrounded herself with a crackerjack support team whom all seem to love their job.

After the procedure, I left with not only the worst tooth pain of my life, but with a giant bruise that extends across my face and jaw. It looks and feels like I've been punched in the face. Came back on two separate occasions to try to figure out what's going on. The dentist takes no responsibility for what's happened, and tells me she "thinks" I need a root canal. Aren't we supposed to trust medical professionals to provide us with the correct treatment in the first place? You would think someone in this profession would be able to read a simple x ray and make the correct diagnosis on the first try. Now I've paid almost $3,000 for a "treatment" that left me feeling and looking worse than when I came in (I had no symptoms or pain before I came here). To top it off, I have to go see another specialist and likely pay thousands of dollars more to fix this problem. If I knew what a scam this place was, I could've saved money and more importantly weeks of pain. Stay away from this place - they are rude, unprofessional, and only out for money. As luck would have it, the appointment prior to mine was cancelled, so they took me back an hour earlier than my appointment time. When Dr. Noel came in for the exam, I was initially impressed with his demeanor and positive energy. He is an extremely personable doctor, and he put me at ease immediately. I had never had a root canal, and there are many horror stories about how painful they are. He provided clarity about what I should expect during the procedure and after. Since he had an extra hour due to the cancellation, he was able to perform the root canal immediately. All throughout the procedure, he explained what he was doing and what I should expect in terms of sensation. I can honestly (and happily) say that the procedure was painless! I've had fillings that were more uncomfortable. Most importantly, a day later I'm still pain free. I have some soreness as to be expected, but the pain I had prior to the procedure is gone. Beyond my confidence in Dr. Noel as a medical provider, I am impressed by his personal conduct. He puts you at ease with his friendly and warm mannerisms. In addition, his entire staff seems competent and friendly. Heather assisted him during the procedure, and they had a comfortable and collaborative work style. The reception and billing employees could not have treated me any better. While I don't wish another root canal for my future, I know that I would head straight to Dr. Noel should it happen. So between two clinics I thought they checked my insurance BUT they did not check my insurance, and only after the fact I found out my insurance only pays 25% or so! And they are very forceful with the billing. It was almost $1800 for the root Canal, and now I face a bill of $1300! All this could have been avoided if they actually checked my insurance!
