It looks like a 5 star hotel from outside and gives tough competition to Hilton as far as the height of the building is concerned (Of course if the rooms were like Hilton then the students living there would have to be billionaires). I have been here so many times, yes I still have tons of friends who are students (Thankfully post grads, no I don't hang out with teenagers and I am not a pedophile). My friends live on the 29th floor and the view is absolutely breadth taking and their flats look nothing like student flats I lived in. The flats are while, with modern furniture, bean bags, central heating and they have a cleaner every week (how I wish I lived here). They are 2 bedroom flats, more like modern apartments but there are also studios available. There is a gym and common room in the ground floor too besides a super fancy lift! The price is not much higher if you compare it to other post grad accommodations in Manchester and the location could not have been better! Seriously its located right in the center of oxford road, near all the pubs and walking distance to the university as well as city center (what more does a student need?) Verdict: Definitely the best student accommodation I have ever seen!

I've waxed lyrical about The Edge…read morebeing one of the most important and central options for luxury living and aparthotel visiting. But Skyline Central is something altogether different. I've got two things to say to you. Rooftop swimming pool. Resident gym. While not the most central of locations, although the name would misleadingly indicate otherwise, it's a few minutes away from the Northern Quarter and a lot less boho. This is five star living. There are no rickety doors or original features to be found here. The key draw here is the upstairs 5,000 square metre spa, fully equipped gym and the 20 metre pool as well as an open-air hot tub on the roof, but there's more. The building even has an exclusive car hire service and laundry and housekeeping services. This is aspirational living down to a tee. If Patrick Bateman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Bateman) was a Mancunian, he'd be living here. Sorry to, er, worry you with that. At 18 storeys high some of the balcony views may give you vertigo, but they'll probably remind you of all those episodes of Frasier where you longed for his pad. And I know that's not just me. With 248 apartments spread over 17 floors, you'd get views over the Printworks and Deansgate and feel pretty much on top of the world. There's even a personal trainer and nutritionist in the gym, so you can certainly live like a celeb in style. The flats consist of one and two bedrooms with a few penthouses and duplexes. While the exterior of the building doesn't look quite as staggering as it might have a few years ago (metal? Glass? Angles? Meh... they're everywhere these days) but it's the epitome of modern city living. You might be paying through the nose, but minus your own gym membership off your monthly allowance and it might not seem too staggering.

Located just opposite the Angel pub, and a short walk (easily less than 10 minutes) from the Arndale Centre, Printworks and Northern Quarter, it's location is stunning. From the outside, the building is really cool. Massively tall, with an amazing penthouse that includes a huge glass section that could probably fit a tree in, it's fantastic.

Many employees/managers came up, finally got it to work, then i could not get dryer to work, they came up and got it on 2 hours, I needed it sooner. To cut to the end, my clothes were still in the dryer when I needed to leave for the airport. They mailed my clothes, but they did not get to me until I needed to leave for home. My English friends had to mail me my clothes to the USA. Full kitchen, quiet, next to Piccadilly station.

No. 1 Deansgate has to be seen to be believed. It was part of the redevelopment that took place following the IRA bombing and cemented Manchester's place in the UK's top urban dwellings. It is as a matter of fact the tallest steel residential structure in the UK and it's mighty expensive. Aptly, it was completed just as I arrived at university and it still overwhelms me every time I see it. It looks slightly more upmarket than that skyline-botherer Beetham Tower too. Gosh darn Hilton. Sixty metres high, fourteen floors tall, it's home to 84 apartments with a total of eight penthouses - four of which sold back in 2002 for a cool £1.5 million each. Nice! If any of us mere mortals were to be able to afford places in here they'd be box rooms and studios. Meh, alright for some. The places are furnished to the highest spec as one would expect, and with a 24 hour concierge this is luxury living and as central as can be.

I am the equivalent of a smelly vegetable grower wearing a potato sack and covered in grub, probably with a strange disease such as Black Death. It is actually the tallest all-steel residential building in the United Kingdom, and the penthouse suites at the top of the building were at one point the most expensive residences in Manchester. Now a 1 bedroom flat can be acquired for merely the price of a small house elsewhere, at around £200, 000. Looks like I'll have spend quite a few years growing and selling quite a few potatoes, save a few golden sovereigns and then auction them for modern day money (unless Natwest will change them) before I can move in.

A stone's throw from the main shops, it couldn't be more central and boasts a riverside status - although riverside in Manchester is not necessarily a good thing depending on the kind of sludge that could be floating past that day. Still, there's nothing quite like a balcony. Situated just off Blackfriars on the very edge (geddit?) of the Salford/Manchester border, this is all about location and thanks to dwindling numbers of renters, has fast become a serviced aparthotel too. You can stay in an Edge apartment from £100 a night, and it's certainly a great way to explore the city. It's about as convenient as can be with East Z East restaurant sitting right next door as well as the Gentry Grooming Co and a number of pubs, bars and a direct link to central Salford too. As you can see from the pics I've uploaded, the apartments are nothing short of stunning. Still, I don't know if it's just me but places like The Edge feel a little sterile, rather blank and minimalist. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself but it doesn't have quite enough character for me to think about settling down there.

Its a super friendly place to live with two blocks one smaller one and then the big tower building. The architecture is super cool, with nothing like it in Manchester! With its huge windows and amazing views of around Manchester. All the apartments range in different sizes from tiny to massive and are lovely inside with lovely features including modern bathrooms and great kitchens,and living space. There is also a great communal secret garden in-between the buildings which is great for those summer days and evenings drinking Rose wine and having BBQS. Its right by the Ashton Canal with passing Barge Boats coming up and down the canal most of the time. It has a lovely community feel to the place and we have a really good residents committee who likes to take care of this awesome place to live. There is also a great coffee shop in one of the Units called Vivd Lounge who serve great coffee and cake and do some special nights and do some great Thai Food. There is also a Barber shop, Tanning Shop and little convenience shop for that loaf of bread or sugar.

Islington Wharf showcases one of the more interesting architectural designs for new developments in…read moreManchester. It's all slanted and angular, with the flats seemingly having huge window space and thus amazing views over Manchester. However, me and my girlfriend looked at one of these flats when we were moving to Manchester and flathunting and the thing is that flats exist in between all the ones with amazingly huge windows and views. These flats have tiny windows, and feel quite enclosed and small. The building is still incredible though, and it's situated within easy walking distance of town and right by the lovely Ashton Canal.

Just down the road from me on Chapel Street, there's a brand new block of flats that formerly had a…read morelobby downstairs, now has a medical centre. How very odd! Then again that's quite handy I guess when you're feeling a bit worse for wear, you can just pop down a few floors. The Dylan Harvey Fresh Tower is both good and bad. It's plagued with the same problem as a lot of new-builds - that rushed feeling, loose fittings, the same issues I've had with my own apartment (my friend lives in one of Fresh's flats). But this is a great location. Adjacent to some of Chapel Street's older buildings, it might not have the scenery but if you're on an upper floor with a balcony I imagine the views are absolutely super. It has its own underground secure car park and it's only a short five minute walk to the centre of town. Most apartments are furnished in the same high spec way as many city centre flats, this time with unusual dark wood which I'm not too sure about but no doubt plenty of potential rentees would love it. Location is key here and it has just about everything you'd need, so it's definitely one to consider.
