Not air conditioned in the summer, so I'd get spirits instead of wine if I bought anything. Overpriced, and nothing unique.

I'm a big fan of buying and supporting local merchants. And the Great Neck Wine and Spirits is a great example. They have a very wide selection of wines and variety of price points. I'm in the $15 to $20 a bottle range and it's even better when the $15 bottle tastes like a $30 bottle. So off to T-day dinner to relatives I have not seen in a long time of course you bring a red and a white to cover your bases -- well the High Point Malbec that was recommended was so amazing and so smooth we could not help but to polish off the bottle. The Chardonnay was buttery and with a clean finish. Could not have planned it any better. Thanks to the staff at GN Wine and Spirits. Cheers!!! read more

The attitude of the owner is terrible. We bought stuff from him, gave us a broken bottle of the four bottles we bought and he did not want to exchange it a short while later. I would not buy again anything from him. BE Aware!!! read more

I was in the area the other day and didn't realize they had moved down the street or I would have gotten something. They've been around a long time. About 9 years ago, the owner got a hold of some rare scotch for me. The price was incredible, considering I wasn't going to find it anywhere else. My (now-ex) boyfriend loved it, it was the best gift. They're very knowledgeable and can't beat the prices. Owner is a jackass. Went in with my husband to check out their scotch collection. Dude didn't bother us much, so we looked at a few bottles but didn't really find anything we haven't tried. Meanwhile, some woman walked in, probably a regular customer. Sleazeball greets her like one would greet a striper, calling her "sexy mama" and mumbling some other suggestive crap. I looked at the lady's reaction, she looked annoyed yet composed. Anyway, the following dialogue was pretty fast passed, as we decided nothing impressed us much so we said "thank you" on our way out and he said "what?you didn't find anything?" while looking at us up and down suspiciously "you looked at all the prices and decided not to buy","what were you looking for?". I responded with (honestly) "well, I was hoping to find.....-", "you're a weird one" says he "I haven't had .....- in for 5 years". "I wouldn't know, this was my 1st time in" as I am turning towards the door. "What you want, I can order for you" all of a sudden. "No thanks, I don't live close by-", "-where do you live?", "......(far)". "Oh, you live ...... (far), you check all the prices, don't buy anything". "We happened to be in the neighborhood, saw your shop, thought we'd check it out ". He says, FOR THE 3rd TIME, "you checked all the prices, don't buy anything", with an ever increasing smirk and offensive tone. At that point, I just turned and walked out saying "yeah, fine, bye". #1. My husband and I are avid fans of single malt-especially peated- whiskeys, particularly from the Islay region. Have spent a fair amount on the indulgence. We were reading labels to see if anything tickled our fancy. (Filtration, notes, casks, peated/unpeated) Assuming that I am only looking for the price is offensive. Especially when I am looking for something rare. #2. I don't think that I am obligated to buy something simply because I walked in. I did not take your time, used your restroom, or inconvenienced you in any way. #3. Talking to existing and potential customers like a jackass could and should damage your business. read more

Love this place. So far on LI I it was the only place to consistently give great recommendations. They have a very large selection of French as well as kosher wine if you need one. Never snobbish if your price range is on the lower side. All I can add is that I am French and picky and this guy, Joe is always friendly and always delivers the goods. read more

My husband and I have been going to Great Neck Wine and Spirits for approximately 10 years. The owner and his family are wonderful business owners. They have assisted us in finding many difficult wines that no one else has been able to get. The entire family has been at the store to assist any customer needs during busy holiday seasons and during bad weather. They have even delivered to friends when we have requested In other communities. Amazing store owned by two amazing people. I've been to this location a few times and enjoyed all my visits there. The two owners (Joey and Pam) are amazing people who greet you when you come in and help you with your questions. This place has also treated my best friend with tremendous respect which makes me like this place even more. Huge selection of liquor and wine.
