Jamie met me at the door and was fortunately available - the hair cut was fantastic and thorough, but didn't take any longer than it did at the barber's place (and was just a few dollars more expensive - definitely worth it). I highly recommend him. NOTE: Jamie and the other folks working here are going to move to a new place. I'll edit this review once I have the new address. I think they're going up the road to Lane Allen somewhere.

On a whim a couple weeks ago, I contacted Artique (thanks to a shining review from Chad C.) and…read moreasked if they could see me soon for an appointment to cut my hair. Stacey was able to make an appointment the next day; I had to reschedule it a few days later but she was super accommodating and chill about it. Awesome. After navigating the one-way streets to find the parking lot (note: enter the lot from Jefferson street), I found the cool house that housed the salon. I walked in and only waited a few moments before Stacey was ready for my appointment. Honestly, I have been wanting to cut and dye my hair for a couple months, but choose just to get it cut for now due to my tight budget. Stacey let me do what I want but also offered feedback/opinion when asked. I decided to cut most of my long hair off into a medium/long angled bob. An hour later, my hair was washed, cut, dried, and styled. It looked great! It wasn't the exact cut in the photo I used as an example (because the photo had different color/hairstyle), but we all know that no one gets the exact cut as a photo. I was still happy with it. And $40 was affordable enough for me for a good haircut (no more GreatClips)! A few days later, I sort of regretted cutting off as much hair as I did (it took a few years to grow it long), but that's just my own fault. Hair grows. So it's all good. And next time I'll get my hair dyed. I also loved that Artique had some friendly, chill ladies working there, with a nonjudgmental atmosphere. Definitely mind kind of vibe. I'm thrilled to have found this place. Artique is my new go-to for hair!

The two times she has cut my hair, I have walked out looking fresh and amazing. Floyd's follows all COVID-19 cleaning protocols. You have to book a reservation first. I know these times are scary, but they are doing everything to make sure people feel safe. I highly recommend Floyd's and be sure to get Jennifer! She is amazing!

The older black gentleman barber, who claims to have 25 years of experience, had no clue how to cut…read morea simple classic side part. I ended up with a disastrous cut despite showing photos and clearly explaining my expectations. He cut a thick hard line down to the skin at my part section. This wasn't what I asked for , nor what the photo showed. Additionally, when I told him that I normally use a clay pomade product, he looked like at me as if I were speaking Chinese. How did he not know of mens hair products? He proceeded to spray some cheap hairspray as a substitute. The other barber stepped in and gave him a jar of pomade. My barber applied it to my hair by smearing it on top leaving chunks of product in spots. One of the worst results I've had in a barber shop. It's a shame that this is the second barber I've tried in the Georgetown area and both have been disasters. I hate needing to drive to Lex for a decent cut. Unfortunately, I cannot wear a hat to my job to cover up.

Why not? Well first it's in a strip mall. Strip stores headed out of Georgetown. Not glamorous or nice, in fact kinda run down inside. Run down like a bunch of guys live there. Which they do, at least a few hours a day. Most guys don't notice things like tv cables hanging on a coat rack. Or carpet that is badly stained. At this point in this review you're like, "what? 5 stars at it starts like this?" I am a woman. I notice these things aesthetically, but men won't. If they do they won't care. The skill of these guys was amazing! 3 chairs constantly full. Walk in ready. The guy he got was the best! Took that rowdy hair mess and turned into my handsome man again! His hair was the best it has ever been, not kidding. The barber even shaved his neck, shaped his beard, and did the most professional job ever. Sadly we cannot remember his name but the younger man in the corner chair is the one we want every time! Totally doing the whole thing again! Sidebar: as a female in a barber shop I don't regularly plan to attend, just happens sometimes. These guys also talked sports with me and made me feel welcome. I'd recommend this business to any guy, or to a woman that needs her guy to get a cut.
