This location has increasingly become my regular stop for haircuts. I've never noticed much difference between the grooming chain outlets, because people come and go and you never know how your next cut will compare to the previous one. But, even though I regularly see different stylists, this location seems to do a good job of bringing in people who know what they're doing. I was looking for a place to get a haircut on Tuesday night because I was getting a little shaggy. I pulled out the Great Clips app and noticed this location had zero wait time. I checked in on the app and headed over. I stopped in on a little after 7 pm. I was fearful they would be closed by the time I got there. After struggling for a few minutes to find a parking spot I was grateful to see they were open. It turns out they are open till 9 p.m.. This news was refreshing since most places close pretty early. The salon was very clean and well maintained. I was immediately greeted by friendly staff and was in the haircut chair within minutes. The young man that gave me my haircut was awesome. We had great conversation about nothing and he did a great job on my trim. read more

For the most part it's a pretty good salon it depends on who you get . If you get Yen or Jessica you're good to go . Others could use a little more work . Lee was pleasant enough but committed a cardinal sin in the service industry by not listening to the client . When you tell them shears over comb NO clippers the the first thing she does is break out the Clippers . You tell her not too short in the back I have cowlicks she cuts it too short in the back now the back of the hair looks like Elon Musk you tell her not too short the girlfriend likes to have a little to grab back there when she's feeling frisky she cuts it so short you can't grab anything . I left the gratuity out of consideration this time but next time I think I'll wait for Yen or Jessica . At least they listen . I'm not sure Lee even speaks the language other than little sounds and noises that sound like yes or no . For essentially $30 today for a haircut I insist on getting what I pay for . read more

I asked the lady for a mullet and showed her a picture she said I don't need you to prop that picture up. I know what I'm doing no longer after she said that she used a size 2 that was supposed to be for my sides and then cut the back of my hair after I reacted she acted surprised and said we can do it a different way and give me a different haircut. I still had to paid and my hairs ruined after I grew it out for a long time. Never again! read more

The hair dresser I had was horrible. Didn't do a proper fade, argued with me about how I wanted my hair cut, and when I told her that she missed a section that had uneven and obvious hairs sticking out she told me it was finger length. She didn't properly comb through my hair to check for uneven spots or anything else. On top of this, she didn't introduce herself and didn't say she didn't know how to fade hair. I got home to check my haircut and it is truly messed up. Completely uneven and has major areas that are WAY shorter than the rest of the finger length cut. She was rough and tugging the whole way through the cut and seemed mad that I didn't want a rinse, shampoo, or product put in my hair. Please stay away from this place if you want even a half way decent haircut. P.S. I didn't see one certificate of beauty school or license to cut or style hair on any of the stations. I don't know what the requirements are in Oregon or Portland, but everywhere I have ever had my hair cut/styled they have had their licenses displayed at their station for the customer to see. read more

After 6 years since it first opened, I am still one happy customer. This is the only Great Clips location that I will go to. The hair stylists that have been cutting my hair since 2003 are still there to this day. They always have a big smile when I walk in the door. Big shout outs to Heather, Becky, and Charles. First time to write a review, cause I'm very mad about this place. I will not go back even though the price is very cheap, however, I don't think the hairdresser did a standard job. He does not know how to use a hair clip properly, my hair is not clipped and divided well, and he still kept cutting it anyway, not to mention how the final look turned out. I took my glasses off, cannot see clearly so when I went back home I found the bottom part is not even trimmed well, and the whole haircut is pretty messed up. I need to find another place to redo it today, and I do not want to go back there cause I'm very doubt about their qualification, cannot take anymore risks. read more

I've been a fan of Great Clips for many years. I first became a customer there back when I lived in Montana and was so impressed with their great customer service and terrific work. When my husband and I moved to Portland, one of the first things I did was look up the nearest Great Clips. I've been coming here for awhile now and they never cease to impress me. I don't like this product at all! The workers in Great Clips told me that many people bought it and it worked. They told me to keep using it. However, after I used it, More hair came out and I lost more hair. I really worried whether I will become a bald after using it. Now I stop using it and found that my hair stopped coming out from my head. I brought the product to the shop and hoped that they could be able to refund me. However, they said no! Worst haircut I've ever received. The line going over my left ear is way to high up compared to the other side. There is like a half inch difference and its an inch above my ear. I'm gonna look stupid now for 2 weeks till that grows back out. I knew something was weird when i wasn't offered a hand held mirror to check it out and the cut was 7 minutes long, she didnt take her time. Should've waited the hour at the other place. It was a clue when i walked in and all the stylist were sitting in their chairs with no customers. They were even talking about someone else that had left a bad review on yelp, but it was too late for me to walk out, but i should have because she hadn't lined my hair up yet. Back to Bishops Barbers again and I'll pay the extra $10. Figured I'd post this to save other people the trouble and pain. Asian lady with short brown hair is who cut mine. Last time I let an older Asian lady cut my hair, the same thing happened and now I look like Forrest Gump. Looks like im wearing a beanie for a couple weeks, damnit. I wonder if Great Clips hires anyone off the street with no training. Feeling pretty devastated cause my wife just laughed at my haircut which is what sparked this post. I usually go to salons for haircuts, but since my hair was looking awkward as hell and I'm broke, I decided to go to Great Clips. My boyfriend went there before and got mixed results. The first time was great (probably the best haircut he had), second one was meh, third one was alright. I got a trim since I'm growing my hair out, and I really like how my hair looks. The stylist (I didn't catch her name) was super nice and asked me throughout the cut if I liked how it looked and whatnot. My hair is definitely not looking awkward as hell right now. Yes, 'tis true. I get my hair cut at Great Clips. Never thought that would happen. BUT I will say that I was referred to an amazing hair stylist by the name of Shalou, and she just transferred to this location (Mall 205). It's $13 unless you have a coupon, and she's not only sweet, but she does a fabulous job and never screws up. I get the exact same haircut that I'd get down the street for less than half the price. So how can I go wrong? I am heartbroken that I'll have to find a new stylist in Seattle. I'm almost tempted to come see her every two months for a trim :( read more

The Mall 205 Great Clips is very professional. I came in last month and got a phenomenal haircut from a friendly talented gal named Heidy. She was pleasant in her introduction, made sure she understood the haircut I wanted, and executed exactly the way I wanted it! I came back yesterday. I'm sitting in here right now while my partner is getting her hair cut. I'm listening to the hair dresser talk to her in a condescending way and not listen to what she is requesting. She's talking over her and telling her that what she wants won't look good. Like she knows what my partner thinks "looks good". She wants a unique cut-- yes, this is true. But the hair dresser seems to not have the skills or patience to do it. I want to get up and just take her to bishops or somewhere with more of a current knowledge of hair. Now she's giving her advice that she didn't ask for about what she uses on her hair (baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and coconut oil). She sounds very critical and is saying things that are simply not true about hair. Gross. Did these people even go to school? I've been going to Great Clips off and on for nearly 6 years and with the last hair cut that I got and the last hair cut my son got, I'll either find a barbershop or go back to shaving my head. I've only had a few cuts where I was really happy. A majority of the time I walk out, get home, shower the hair away and then look at my hair and say, "well, that was a waste of money". The last two times I was in, Kelli (with an "I") cut my hair. She gave me the worst hair cut I have ever received. It was uneven all over the top and on the sides and back it had big clumps of hair that were longer than the rest. When my son got home from getting his hair cut by Kelli (with an "I"), he found that the top was jagged and uneven and that he had a clump of hair on the side near the back of his head that looked like it wasn't even trimmed. At this point, I see no reason to ever return to not-so-Great Clips. My recommendation: If Kelli (with an "I") is cutting hair, give a chimpanzee a set of clippers and let it go to town. I have Toshia cut my hair and she does an excellent job! Helps me pick a style that will look good with my type of hair. I have gone to expensive stylist in the past that have not taken the time to do that, they just ask me what I want. I am not a stylist and have no idea what would work best with my hair.
