I love getting my hair highlighted here. The prices are unbeatable and they do a really good job. I…read moream so picky about highlights and I usually don't like to try new hair salons, but I'm really happy I tried this place. Also, they are really flexible with timing and will try and fit you in the schedule to be accommodating. This place is a hidden gem!

I have contemplated for days on whether or not I wanted to talk about my hair and the service I…read morereceived from Hair By Carmen in Oxford. But, after tonight (my third night dealing with this salon and the rude owners) I wanted to share my experience. I went in Friday, with blonde hair and an inch of copper toned roots to have my have my hair colored and cut. The color was a match for my roots, but turned out red, orange and ash brown. Since my stylist was nothing but respectful I won't say her name. But I did tell her I wasn't a fan of my hair that I saw green in it. I went home and cried for over an hour, then decided to call and speak to a manager. I spoke with Keith, who insulted my original hair on the phone and told me a refund was not policy I could come in and get it fixed. So I agreed. Saturday morning, I came in and was told cutting my hair would help the color and I was given options to choose from. I settled with the darkest, warmest color in fear it would still out green. This color has black streaks in it, when the day before I was blonde and went in for a light color. I was fine with my service from the second day, although Keith did rush my stylist, kept coming over and taking over for her and being incredibly aggressive with my head as well as plastering color on my neck and saying "don't worry about the mess". I left and paid an EXTRA 35$ to fix their mistake when I wanted a refund. That day my face and hairline were broke out, swollen, itchy and red, I came home and took off my makeup to see it all over my face and neck. Sunday morning it spread to my eyes and cheeks and was worse so I had to get cream to make it go away. Tonight, I was in contact with the other owner of the salon who had me come in for the THIRD time on my vacation from California, to discuss my experience and what we could do to solve it. She agreed to refund me for the 35 of the second day, and as she was refunding me Keith the other owner got upset with her and said "so she comes in with basketball orange hair and leaves with perfect hair for nothing" and insulted me again after the entire experience I have had. I have cried all weekend, because I did NOT want to go this dark. I DID NOT want to cut an extra 3 inches of hair from only one side of my head. To me, I DO NOT have "perfect hair" and I didn't get it at the cost of nothing. I spent the entire weekend crying and it will take me a good year or more to get my hair back to the correct color.

Pros know. And these pros hit it out of the park! I cannot say enough good things about Classic…read moreHair Design and Olivia, specifically, I've written many Yelp reviews over the years, mostly restaurants, and do not hold back. I'm candid and transparent in an effort to share the perspective from my experience to help guide you and your experience because that's what this platform is here for. My daughter attends and is about to graduate from Miami (Love & Honor!) and we live out of state. We had scheduled a graduation photo shoot for this past weekend for her MONTHS ago. The planning that went into this (hair, nails, a photographer, the outfit, the locations, a shot list). I swear, I don't remember my parents doing anything more than taking one flimsy polaroid of me at both my high school and college graduations. Times have changed. There was an additional level of challenge since I was trying to coordinate all of this from out of state and sight unseen, relying exclusively on online reviews and testimonies from parents on the Miami parent page on Facebook. I selected a salon, which shall remain unknown, based on positive, glowing reviews. And felt even more reassured that the stylist with whom we were booked was the owner. What could go wrong? We found out quickly that they use different words there in Oxford than we do in Nashville. In Nashville, there's a blowout bar on every corner where you go in with clean, dry hair and they style it. No cut, no wash, no color. Just style. Put some volume in it. Add a little shine. Throw in some waves or straighten it out. Easy peasy. I found Oxford salons didn't seem as familiar with this request. My daughter has beautiful, long golden locks with a bit of body/wave and curtain bangs. She wanted some body added in with long, soft waves and her bangs fluffed up. Then, since rain was in the forecast, we needed some product that would hold up against wind and humidity but not weigh it down. We had a bad feeling as soon as we walked in the salon. You know the little voice that says "run." But we were there. The stylist, armed only with a curling iron, took to putting in long corkscrew waves. No round brush. No rollers. My daughter showed her some inspo pics, described how she fixes her hair, what she wanted, and what other stylists have done. The woman insisted all she had was the curling iron and that she'd "get close" to what we wanted. We left utterly disappointed and my daughter was getting upset. This day had some emotion behind it as it wasn't just a silly photo shoot. It was the culmination of years of hard work and realizing this chapter and journey is coming to a close soon. I called around in abit of a panic to some other salons that popped up on a quick google search. No luck. They either didn't answer the phone, wouldn't take us or were fully booked. We wound up driving by and walking in Classic Hair and this angel named Olivia was finishing up with a client and said "I'll fix her." Fix her she did. Olivia was amazing. She reassured her, listened to her, and sent her out the door with exactly what she wanted. The weather held out and the shoot went off without a hitch. Thank you Classic Hair Design and thank you Olivia. Not all heroes wear capes. (But sometimes their clients do.) ;)
