Thanks fellow Yelp contributors; I found this Great Clips location close to my office and decided to give it a try entirely because of your reviews. My turn now. Quick set up: I've used the same hair stylist for the past couple of decades (yikes) -- and he's currently off his feet for a bit (wishing you well Antonio!) -- and probably 3-4 weeks overdue for a trim, went with Yelp contributors' referral of Jessica at Great Clips. First time client, she invited me to sit down and voice my preferences -- to which she listened, asked some questions, etc. and got to shampooing. Never had a shampoo, where at the cream rinse phase, the stylist sort of squeezes the product into the hair; almost like with a scalp massage. Probably the right way to do it -- "this IS great" I'm thinking to myself -- having noticed their company slogan. And then she started cutting my hair. Our conversation while she worked was pleasant -- and at every turn, Jessica's interest in producing a great cut seemed apparent. Outcome: I've never had a better haircut. Period. I'm delighted -- and an advocate. Thank you Jessica; Great Clips -- I'll be back. read more

When I sat down the stylist said "I'm not one to chop off beautiful long hair" the proceeded to chop off my beautiful LONG hair. The haircut is choppy and uneven and NOTHING like the photo I showed her. I'm extremely disappointed and upset. read more

I popped into Great Clips, which is conveniently located next to the Secretary of State office in Novi, for a quick haircut. Of course, I knew a bad cut was on the table, but what I did not even consider was injury. And, I don't like to leave negative reviews because it can impact the business, but this experience warrants the following review. The pictures of my neck are what my family saw when I got home. When the clippers were being used on me, there were three instances where I felt some pain, but I just toughed it out. This barber clearly injured me in three separate places on the back of my neck, leaving visible red abrasions. Also, he failed to show me the back of my neck upon completion of the cut. I do not understand how a professional of 13 years could have caused these injuries. I've had many non-professionals, and even myself, trim my head with clippers without ever being injured or feeling pain. I feel like this is completely unacceptable for a professional haircut and shows a serious lack of care or something else. I experienced discomfort from these cuts, and I'm concerned about the potential for infection. I would not recommend this barber or Great Clips based on this experience. I have chatted with management who relayed my concerns to the franchisee, and I do not think they seemed to care much about what happened to me, so I posted this review. My son has been coming here for almost a year now and they are always so personal and caring with him. He's so excited to go because of how he's treated and always wants his hair cut. Last time he was so excited for a Mohawk and I was worried going in with Covid but you can tell they have an amazing process set up only allowing 2 people at a time to be inside and it is always very clean! So a haircut is haircut. I trade off between Borics and Great Clips. Borics has a tendency to have a longer wait, and I hate waiting, especially for a hair cut. I usually go to Borics first, and if the line is over 10-15 minutes I head over to Great Clips. So I guess I don't have a regular stylist, but my style is pretty basic. The stylists are nice enough, a little younger than Borics and faster - more clippers than scissors. The location is tough, this is a large strip mall, but its off the road and only about half full of stores. Its tough to tell how busy they are, you need to drive into the mall parking lot to see. read more

I couldn't get in to see my normal hair dresser so I decided to try the place where my mom goes....big mistake. The older lady that cut my hair cut it the way she wanted, not what I asked for plus she cut 5-6 inches off. My hair is different layers, different lengths on both sides. Absolutely horrible. The lady that cut my hair could barely speak english and wouldn't hardly let me explain how I wanted my hair cut, she kept saying "I know what you need" she cut it way shorter than I wanted, and lots of spots that are longer than others and it was blended horribly. I had to go to another barber to fix what she did. Very uncomfortable experience as well, She never used the blow dryer to blow the excess hair out and she didn't tie the neck thing tight at all so I had hair all over my face and down my shirt. When I asked her to blow dry some hair off of my she got an attitude and said "you picky" Will never be going to this location ever again. I'm so particular and sensitive when it comes to my hair, because it's so difficult to work with and get it to where I want it. My regular stylist moved to Mt. Pleasant a year ago, and I've had nothing but terrible experiences with people who think they know what they're doing, and then cut into my hair and realize when it's too late they can't do what I'm asking. Since I normally spend $40-$60 on a hair cut, I was really hesitant on trying a great clips. But in desperate need of a haircut, I gave this place a try. I walked in, was greeted and welcomed to a chair right away. I showed my original haircut to my stylist Robin, and she conferred with the lead stylist about the specific style. She started cutting, not too much, and turned me around to show me what she had so far. It wasn't ruined, it was actually a decent haircut, but not exactly what I wanted. I explained in more detail, and she knew the specific style I was after, but wasn't sure about how to do it. Rather than try to do it, she got another stylist, Zena, who finished it for her to exactly what I wanted. She even made the comment of "we want everyone to leave with a smile on their face," and I so did. Amazing, customer-oriented experience without the pride, ego, and do-no-wrong attitude I've had elsewhere. I'm so thankful for this staff, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I have never given a review before, but this needs to be said. If you care about how the management treats their customers, this is not the place to go. The hairdresser I had gave me good advice on what products to use, and I did not mind that she talked minimally throughout the haircut. However, when I went to pay, another hairdresser (presumably the manager) yelled at her employees and directed her frustration at me because I wanted to split the cost between my sister and myself and use a coupon. She said it was "taking away time from her other customers." As a customer, I expect to be treated nicely and with respect; however, this lady pushed me to pay quickly and criticized the time it took me to find my cash and pay. She wasn't even my hairdresser! Again, if you want to go to this place, don't expect to be treated with any respect. You can get a much better haircut at a place that actually cares how they treat you. They are extremely rude! p.s.: They're not very good with female haircuts....This was my second time going there, and I did not return with a decent haircut... read more

I got my haircut at the Wixom great clips again today and this is my second review. 5 stars again. I signed in online and didn't have to wait at all. Olivia gave me an amazing haircut again. She recognized me as soon as I walked in and remembered exactly how I like my hair cut. She cut it perfectly and also gave me great advice for my hair care and was very friendly. I usually don't like going to get my haircut but the last two times with Olivia have been a nice break in my busy day. Totally recommend the Wixom great clips and Olivia. Went to this Great Clips like I have been doing for many years. I go there specifically because I have a short lunch break and if they are not busy I can usually get my hair cut during my break. The haircuts are OK. Price is cheap but it's only for 8-10 minutes work. None of that really matters to me much anyhow. To me, I just need my hair to look presentable and time is what's important. When i arrived no one was in the waiting area, two stylists working and each had a customer. I checked in with my phone number as usual. Stylist told me about she would be done in a few minutes. About 10 mins later just as she was finishing up in walks some on-line check-in customer. Guess who got seated next? The whole on-line check-in is a stupid, no-value-added idea dreamed up by some marketing whiz with no concept of reality. What about good old first come, first serve? What about people like me who have tight and variable schedules and have to shoot over there for a quick haircut when the opportunity presents itself? I can't see how on-line check-in benefits the company or customers, but on the other hand it sure did give Great Clips an opportunity to piss a customer off. read more

She messed up cutting my hair and EVEN TRYED HIDING IT FROM ME! They give you a rushed haircut with no attention to detail... i just got a haircut from them and i was not happy with what I left with. For the most part they are very friendly ladies, and they seem to enjoy their job. But after my haircut today I won't be back. Everything was going alright up until the end when she was showing me what it looked like from the back and she had messed up, what makes it worse is that she did not own up to it, she had left a big chunk of hair just poking out on the line of the back of my head but instead of telling me "I'm sorry I messed this up would you like me to fix it?..." she just tried to hide it by holding the mirror up behind me slightly higher so that I could not see it. I would have left happy if she had brought it up to my attention and we could work something out like a way to fix my hair but instead she decided to do that. I hope this helps for future people wanting to find somewhere comfortable to get their hair cut. This was my usual haircut place but now I won't be back. read more

What a poor customer service. They enter me on the system at 8:10pm and told that two people ahead of me and I have to wait for 30min and if I wait I can get service around 8:40pm. They took more time and at 9:00pm they told me sorry we can't do it today. I was very much disappointed. When I asked why did not tell in the beginning if you can't do it today? Their answer is we can't argue with you. Why the hell they have to ask the customer to wait if they can't do their job? read more
