It's a good place to get your hair cut, wait times are usually non-existent or very short, unless you CHOOSE to wait for a specific person to cut your hair. This place is cheap. Only reason I would go and take my young boys. Last few times I have been there, it just gets worse. From uneven haircuts, missing whole areas of my head when they cut, to hands smelling like cigarettes. (Cancer survivor that has really sensitive nose and lungs). The issues are worse every time. The last straw was going in on a Sunday at 4:10 when they close at 5 and them telling me I should leave because they would not be able to cut my hair before they close. 2 in front of me, 2 people working and guys cuts... This is inexcusable awful customer service. I will never be back and at every chance send people to the hair cuttery across the street. Bad hair cuts, bad service= would not send an enemy here. read more

I am so happy with my hair. Finally someone listened to what I want and made it better. I have been there twice and she just continues to make it better each time! Danielle is relatively new to the location. She is very personable and produced a style that virtually fell in place easily with little effort. This location is somewhat busier than her last but she still tries very hard to produce a haircut that will be easy to manage and attractive. I'm a senior on a limited budget and find the price reasonable, the shop clean, and the wait minimal. I'll be returning. read more

This was the first haircut that I received since Covid began. The truth is, it took a lot for me to step inside the door for service. I was greatly impressed with Dani and the high standards she followed. Masks, handwashing, temperature check, disinfecting between customers...not only did I receive an awesome haircut, I felt the safest as a customer in a public business since this pandemic altered our reality. I usually go to great clips but I was pleasantly surprised by this location and the level of customer service i received. I happen to be in Dyer, IN for a job interview and i sure didn't want to show up to my interview without a haircut. So Great Clips was the nearest hair salon to go. When I walked in I was taken care by a young lady named Christie Lynn she was very professional,polite,sweet and kind. She ask me what i wanted to get so I showed her a picture of the haircut and I didn't have to say anything because she already knew what i wanted and she did an amazing job. I would definitely recommend this location for anybody looking for an amazing haircut at an affordable price. I would strongly recommend Chrstie Lynn. read more

I am giving 1 Star for this hair salon because I recently had the worst hair cut imaginable because of the input from the supervisor who advised the stylist working on my hair that day contrary to what I wanted. I specifically stated I was growing layers out and wanted a bob that a previous stylist who no longer works there had done which was the best cut I had ever had. The supervisor knew that stylist and I let her give input on my cut because I figured she knew what I wanted and was there that day when I had a wonderful haircut by the now retired stylist. I ultimately ended up with a mess. I am not blaming the stylist that cut my hair a few weeks ago. She did her best. However, I should have never let her involve the supervisor who can be arrogant and unfriendly. In fact, she was rude to my 92 year old mother one time when my mom had told her how she wanted her hair cut. From that point on, my mom would not go to this Great Clips in Dyer, and I will never set foot in there again. I decided to go to the Great Clips in Highland/Schererville area and one of the stylists softened my cut to where it will look better until it grows out. She will be my stylist from now on. I just want to say that being friendly and having a good attitude towards a client goes a long way. One shouldn't have to check what day a supervisor stylist works so they can come in on a different day because they feel uncomfortable, which is what I did. Some people look forward to a great haircut because it should make them feel special and attractive. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case for me at this Great Clips location. read more

We've been here a ton of times as the location was convenient being near the shoe store we get his shoes we would do both in the same day. I recently started taking him to another place and we went back here one day he needed shoes. The woman who cut his hair did not like kids, you could just tell. Sorry, but kids come to places like this! I know my 3yo isn't the most perfectly still person, but come on. I have seen other stylists work great with him. They talk to him and make conversations, play games to get him to sit still, etc. Saying things like, don't move or I'll cut myself are not effective. Also, I know it is hard, but I am not going to leave with my kids hair looking bad, so if I ask to make a small change don't roll your eyes and be like, okay mom wants it changed. I don't want my kid's bangs looking like dumb and dumber. We've had great success at other places and this was just the last straw for this place. read more

I keep asking if she can make me 20 years younger and she does a great job of making me look beautiful!! I was at Great Clips with my beautiful grand daughter today for a hair cut. This is how it went down. I called to make an appointment and was told no appointment needed but was never told about check in. So we went there and there was a 40 minute wait. Ok so we checked in and left to return about 30 minutes later. They then tried to take the gentleman after her first. When my grand daughter said she was suppose to be first they made all kinds of apologies to this guys but none to us. They washed her hair and had a hard time with it so my Angel said if she had an extra brush she would start the other side. Nope they didn't so my Angel ended up brushing her own hair for about 30 minutes. Then was told they couldn't cut her hair because of one reason or another. She by the way is half black and I did ask before time if they knew what they were doing. Thank you for not cutting her hair as I feared that you guys didn't know what you were doing. Or yea, she was offered a deep treatment free after she goes somewhere else to get hair cut. As if I would ever go there again. She was in tears and nothing you say or do will ever get me to step into that place again. read more

Worst cut my boys ever had. do to the convenient location to the proximity of our home I took my two boys there for a cut. When it comes to my boys (and girls) I am a stereo typical parent viewing my children through a lenses that makes them look beautiful (at all times). As we were getting in the truck I looked and thought (my wife is going to kill me) well I'm still here but she immediately sent me to Reileys Baber shop in st john to have her fix it. I noticed in another review that Great Clips usually has non-existent or very short lines. That is because nobody comes back twice. Jennifer and her staff always make my hair look great! The stylists are very friendly and professional. My hair has two cowlicks and is not easy to make manageable. They do it very well and are the only and best place I've found to cut my hair. read more

Usually this place is good, employees are willing to conversate. Friendly atmosphere, and useful record of haircuts you usually get. I had one bad experience where two employees argued over what to do about a computer situation. The whole argument should've been dealt with away from customers. It was an irrational and seemingly childish personal issue that wasn't necessary. It made the experience awkward and uncomfortable. read more

awful experience here. took my nephew to get a haircut and he had told her to do a 1 on the sides and to trim the top and keep it longer so it wasn't as short and she didn't listen to anything he had said. the lady was not a very good hair stylist and will not be going back. my nephew even said that if he had to go to school before it grows out he will not be going LMAO read more

I love this salon, always friendly service, Cindy the manager does my hair & always does a wonderful job. All the stylists at this branch are extremely friendly and are very good about doing a great job in a timely fashion. My niece also goes every year or so and does locks of love at this location. They are so helpful and send the hair out for her and include a wonderful haircut in addition to the donation. Highly recommend! read more
