Topaz is one of 10 interment camps during WWII (there is a display of all 10 interments plus other detention facilities set up in the US). We got lucky when we showed up because a Weber University group was there so the tour had lots of people. Enhanced the experience tenfold. Our family went to honor many people but especially during Veterans weekend to honor the 'Go for Broke' 100th Infantry/442nd battalion of Japanese Americans who fought and saved lives during WWII. There was a very generous tribute to them in the museum. The museum is in town and the old interment camp (Topaz Mountain- not on a mountain) which housed the Japanese is about 20min drive away. Tours of the camp are given also. Or go after the museum to experience the desolate place for yourself. Free admission, great little gift shop with books, cards and other items. Books written by camp survivors. Loads of personal belongings donated by the survivors and people continue to send items to share. My pic does not even scratch the surface of what there is to see. There is a virtual tour online also Yes, it's bit off the beaten track (wasn't that the point in 1941) but the area has grown some since WWII. It was chosen because it was remote but also was on the train tracks with a direct line from LA to SLC. On your way out, grab a little origami crane for peace and remembrance. We plan on visiting again!!

Incredible state park in Utah…read more As part of our family trip to Utah's National Parks, we stayed at Utah State Parks since they had openings. It was a good choice. This is a nice state park with friendly staff and clean facilities. There are clean restrooms with showers and even a laundry room. Just be sure to bring quarters if you arrive after the visitor center closes. In addition, the park itself has some recreational activities available and is located on historic land with pictographs to find. Very good state park.

They high lighted the ones I could definitely do and I did!! I loved the paved little loop at the visitor center itself that is ADA approved. My favorite was probably the 100 Hands Cave. Just a neat little walk by the creek and a small hill to get to the sight. I forgot my binoculars, so if you go bring some with you! I went on the second weekend in May, so not quite the summer season yet, so it wasn't crowded at all and I spent a couple of hours there.

There is a lot of information about the area including pottery pieces from the Fremont Indian community which resided in the area long before the Presbyterian church was built that now houses Miss Mary's Museum. There is also displays about the area mining industry and the local Redmond Real Salt mine. It will provide a welcome rest break for wearied travelers alone the I70 corridor. Admission is free. I never went inside the courthouse since i have no official business here…read more I stumbled upon this beauty while searching for the Territorial Statehouse State Park Museum. I thought this actual courthouse was the museum cause its soooo pimp. The state park museum is behind this courthouse and the exterior has murals galore. The mural connected to Millard Courthouse is for Millard County's veterans. Technically this review could have been for the veteran's monument only but i figured the actual courthouse is easier to see from the street. Hearings are by appoitment only! And the hours are 8-5am. Small town courthouses arent crowded or busy so its ok to walk around and do touristy stuff. Safe travels y'll.

The former cafeteria includes a a stage and is used for mini community events. The annual petite neat Christmas boutique, which is held the first Friday and Saturday of December invites the community to visit with Santa for free as well as purchase various goods from local vendors and enjoy entertainment from several youth performing arts groups. There is not a boring inch in the whole facility as they even decorate their employee access doors with intricate art work. Tasteful planters everywhere. I loved this Aquarium, like all Aquariums there are different sections. This one was in…read morecontinents, there was the Asian section, South American section etc.. it was very cute. They had a lot of animals that isn't usually common to see at an Aquarium. I saw huge roaches (YEEUUCKKKK), they had a snow leopard, a Komodo dragon, sea otters and some more. Where the sea otters are it looked like the beautiful formation rocks in Utah. We had such a good time.
