The pontoon boat was a comfortable way to cruise, although I would advise EXTRA time if you intend to grill supper on the boat...I'm sure the regulators are there for people who may not camp often, but it shouldn't take 45 minutes to cook brats :-p They stayed in the "motel" style cottage which had a nice view of the sunset on the lake. Everything was well-kept and clean. And, they managed to catch a few fish during their stay! A very easy, scenic drive from the Nashville area, I'd definitely consider spending a weekend here!

I found this place months ago and my initial plans in February fell through, so on July 3rd as I planned a work related adventure in the area, I remembered this place. I called pretty much at the last minute and was welcomed by Michelle. She isn't actually onsite but met us a few miles away (not because we were lost or anything). I will admit, I'm extremely picky when it comes to hotels and resorts, so I was worried and didn't want to commit before checking it out. Michelle was extremely gracious and showed us around the entire house. It passed the test and I chose the "Lakeside" room. The room had it's own bathroom, and was immaculate. It was the only room in the inn with a private patio. When we first arrived it was loud because it overlooks the lake and it was a busy weekend. The view... why do we travel out of state when we have so much beauty within Kentucky?! The bad news: it's on the market for sale... If you have $775,000 and decide to buy this place, hit me up because I'd love to stay here again. The owner, Mr. Noble was a bit unwelcoming at first, as Michelle was showing us around. I guess that's what he pays her for anyway. As he sat in the living room, watching The History Channel on the community tv, my talkative husband got him to open up and he explained that this was Mrs. Noble's dream and she passed away five years ago. They built the 8,000 square ft home ten years ago. Breakfast was prepared by Michelle and we ate in a community setting, there was only one other couple and Mr. Noble. I don't mind the shared seating because I cruise a lot and that's the norm on a cruise. But if you don't like that, a B&B probably isn't for you. I don't think that I would've enjoyed it as much if the house were full to capacity. Check out was at 11:00 and they were expecting a full house in the 4th. The price was a bit steep, over double the rate that I was quoted in February. I think that if they were to lower the rate on non holidays and weekdays, I bet they would get more visitors. All in all, it's a great getaway with an awesome view.

Staying at an apartment for the price of a hotel is wonderful, & well worth a little extra driving to the lake. Thanks to having a washer & dryer in the room, I saved the $20 I would have normally spent on coin laundry, with more convenience, & saved $200 by cooking some of our meals in the room. The only thing that stopped a five-star review (which I rarely give) is not having enough of the supplies they said they provided. We only had one wash cloth, no trash bags/kitchen rag/towel/baking pan & had to run out for tissue & paper towels. A broom & dust pan could be mounted on the closet door for easy cleanup. We still had a much better experience than we would have had in a hotel. The positives outweighed the negatives immensely, so I'd happily stay here again & again.

There is one queen bed and a pull out couch. Some of the amenities in the suite include free wifi, air conditioning (that works great), a washer and dryer (bring your own laundry detergent) and several kitchen appliances including a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, oven, toaster and stove. There is not a main hotel office, but prior to arriving, the hotel sends you a code to get into your room. The process was extremely easy! For the price ($125ish/night) in Jamestown, I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

They were timely, cordial, and their customer service was off the charts. There was a good variety in terms of lunch offerings and vegetarians were fairly seamlessly accommodated (which isn't always the case in this corner of the world). There weren't any vegans in our group, though, so I'm not sure whether they are used to accommodating egg and cheese restrictions, particularly given their baked goods 'schtick,' which was certainly a theme all week.. Baked goods (breakfast breads, cakes, muffins, brownies, etc. were predictably indulgent, as was their banana pudding. Oh, the banana pudding... But *hot soup*? In July? In KY? Is that some sort of torture? Would have been great if they labelled things (at least generally - for example, can you tell the difference between tuna and chicken salad on identically wrapped white loaf bread sandwiches?). Not expecting them to label individual items, but it's not like this is rocket surgery: post a daily menu, or even give us a menu on Monday for the week. All I know is that I would have appreciated being able to plan ahead (and, potentially, to take care of my personal eating needs). And all of the sandwich bread they served was stale. Not rock-hard, but "Yeah, this has been sitting out for more than a few hours..." craptastic, crumbly and dry. That said, the food was (bread aside), generally, fairly good and absolutely well-intentioned.
