Well, sadly I think my favourite tea room is permanently closed... so we gave Grayz another go. We just snuck in before they closed for the afternoon. One of the group had the Victoria Sponge again, one had a scone, and the rest of us had the carrot cake.
While there was one waitress, she seemed to be doing a good job of getting everyone served as there were quite a few full tables. When another two members of our group showed up, the waitress was a bit hesitant to serve them because they arrived after 4:30 p.m., but she did anyway. She also brought us hot water to top up our tea so they wouldn't have to order extra.
The carrot cakes were lovely! They were like little loaves with a smear of frosting on top. Again, the frosting was nice, but could've done with a bit more cream cheese to it. The cake, however, was just heavenly! It was moist, it was dense, and it had flavour. Sometimes when people make carrot cake, it ends up with no flavour, not enough spice, but this one was just right! This tea room has potential! read more
